Re: Poor cat is locked inside a garage :(

Thanks bobbys girl, it's a good job she had a loud meow! I was worried in case the people had gone away, thinking of the worst case scenario as usual. Glad your sisters cat was ok after a week, such a worry when they disappear like that.

Re: Poor cat is locked inside a garage :(

What a worry they are when they wander. Bailey is a funny girl who seems to have doolally moments when she is anxious, jittery and starts spraying everywhere indoors and out. Which makes me wonder if she would tolerate a collar and loc8tor or whether it would stress her even more. I really like the ...

Re: Poor cat is locked inside a garage :(

The loc8tor sounds a very good idea and reassuring for the times when a cat goes walkabout. My cats seem to be getting nosier the older they get lol. Last night I took my husband with me as his hearing is good and heard Bailey when I didn't, so he is my cat locator for now..:)

Re: Poor cat is locked inside a garage :(

Funny you should say that Jacks, normally Bailey has a feeble high pitched meow but last night she was shouting! Her brother Beaker was locked in next doors shed a few weeks ago and we could only hear him in the dead of night with his quiet meow! Last year it was Alfie in the same shed..I wish I cou...

Re: Poor cat is locked inside a garage :(

I've just arrived back with Bailey having hammered on their door at 7am! She ran to the back of the garage to start with, frightened when the garage door first went up then she came out purring for England! We didn't get much sleep last night, it's such a relief to get her back. She's wolfing down s...

Poor cat is locked inside a garage :(

We hadn't seen Bailey since lunchtime which is very unusual as she always appears at meal times and is never far away. On our third walk round the local neighbourhood at 11.30pm we heard her crying loudly from behind a garage door on the road behind ours! We tried the bell and knocked but the people...

Should I stop contact with previous owner?

When Baileys previous owner comes to stay occasionally (my DIL) we encourage her to see her and make a fuss of her. Bailey loves her and purrs and is really happy but when she's gone Bailey's spraying gets worse than ever. Bailey has been with us for over two months now and her fur is growing back s...

Re: Removing cat pee from carpets etc..

Thanks Elastu, one of my other cats has decided to spray as well today, having never done so before so I think the brandy, whisky etc will be for me as well as adding to the wash solution!

Removing cat pee from carpets etc..

I used to use biological wash followed by a spray of surgical spirit when dry. This isn't stopping our cat Bailey from peeing on the same places though. It worked for one of our previous sprayers but not this one..Can anyone recommend an effective remedy or shop bought product which works well?

Re: Sun cream

That's a good point Hazel, I'm concerned about using human sun cream in case it 'hurts' her if she ingests it, and she will as it'll be on her body. Manor Pharmacy said they can order Pet Screen in spray form but I would rather it be a cream...

Re: Sun cream

Thanks Alice, I was wondering whether a children's sun cream would be suitable. That's hilarious re the turquoise colour! It would be on her back and sides as well as nose and ears so it would have to be non toxic as she's bound to lick!

Sun cream

The vet suggested using sun cream on our cat when she goes out in the garden as her fur has been shaved/ clippered off. He mentioned Pet Screen can be bought in chemists but I haven't seen any and is out of stock on Amazon. Her fur has just started to grow through now. Does anyone here use sun cream...

Re: Bailey is spraying indoors

Thanks for your reply. We have to keep remembering that it's still early days and could take a long time for her to feel 'at home'. As the spraying is a new behaviour I'm hoping it can be nipped in the bud and that we don't unintentionally make it worse! Our other concern is for our other cats feeli...

Re: Bailey is spraying indoors

Meant to say I play as much as possible with her, she loves da mousey, to work off some of that energy! Although my husband thinks it makes her more hyper as she never seems to tire! She used to love playing outside which she hasn't been able to do over the last couple of weeks so maybe next weekend...

Re: Bailey is spraying indoors

Hi Anna, sorry, it was a bit vague! The previous thread was 'Bailey has been shorn' Since the sedation wore off she is still overly hyper, wide-eyed and loopy! She runs everywhere, can't sit still for long, frantically licks her bare skin and is generally upset poor girl. She had the sedation at the...

Bailey is spraying indoors

Bailey has been doing really well considering all the changes she and her brother Beaker have been going through over the past few weeks. But now, in the evenings when we are sitting in the lounge, and only then, she backs up to various pieces of furniture and gives all the appearances of spraying. ...

Re: Bailey has been shorn

We had a look at a few coats and jumpers today and none of them were suitable for Bailey, she wouldn't tolerate the fiddling about to put it on. She has quite a choice of warm blankets and beds around the house that she can snuggle into if she feels chilly. I hope it does warm up, it's supposed to g...

Re: Bailey has been shorn

Thanks greenkitty for the suggestions. She has a snugglesafe already for when she was in the conservatory pre shave. The baby vest top idea sounds good as I've read that the smallest dog coat/jumper can be too big for a cat..She's not keen on being handled so something simple would be best.

Re: Bailey has been shorn

Bailey is still very lively but much better than she was. She had a moment last night where she briefly walked weirdly on the patterned carpet but then she was ok. Her eyes had the third eyelids showing slightly for a while but were normal later on so she's not completely there yet. She's eating and...

Re: Bailey has been shorn

Dear Bailey :) no sooner had I called the vet than she woke up, jumped down and ate a bowl of food! Third eyelids gone. Now she's running around as normal. So have cancelled the appointment but keeping a close eye on her in the meantime :) So relieved..

Re: Bailey has been shorn

Well, Bailey woke up, had a wash but hasn't eaten yet. Her third eyelids are showing now. Now I'm getting paranoid but it looks as if her skin is bruised, apart from the normal pigmentation.

Re: Bailey has been shorn

Thanks Lyn. I hate to see her like this, she is normally so full of life like an overgrown kitten! When Ginger was hyper after his dental he was back to normal by next day, but this seems to be going on too long.

Re: Bailey has been shorn

This morning Bailey is quiet and subdued. She's not interested in her breakfast either. She has done a wee in her tray but went straight back to our bed. I'm hoping her hyper activities over the last two days have tired her out and she's just resting now. If she hasn't picked up by lunch time I'll ca...

Re: Bailey has been shorn

Lol Lyn! Her body isn't hot it's just body temp. if that makes sense. In fact she feels a bit cool lying next to my husband so we have to be careful she doesn't get cold. She's just had several mad minutes digging and jumping about on the bed again so you'd think she would be hot and bothered!

Re: Bailey has been shorn

You're right, it's been a trauma for her, lots of strange things happening to her :( She managed to escape from the bedroom and down to the kitchen which is bright and the patterned tablecloth stimulated her weird behaviour again. The other cats are a little scared of her too. Now she is back in the...

Re: Bailey has been shorn

I'm sure she feels very strange without all that thick fur and more comfortable hopefully! I like the idea of a little knitted coat for her :) I'll have a look in our local petshop..It's quite chilly and hate to think she's cold. She has just done a very smelly loose poo which is possibly the sedati...

Re: Bailey has been shorn

Bailey is still very agitated this morning, her pupils dilated and behaviour erratic. She was on our bed last night and she was so affectionate with lots of head bumps and purring most of the night! The thing that disturbed her the most before bed was the patterned carpet in the lounge! It had the m...
