Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Aww, they're all so gorgeous! :D Good luck with the engineers and I hope they're considerate about keeping outer doors closed and not leaving booby traps for the cats (such as raised floorboards.) Be firm! :) thankfully no floorboards have to come up but they will be in every room in the house with...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

What a happy update! It must be a huge relief to you too, to have them all so comfortable together. Happy update and a good start particularly after Hendrix got over his own self importance! Many challenges ahead though as we doubt the 2 kittens will stay as close as the first 2 weeks. We now often...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Hi Dave I’ve caught up on Mia Ch3.. those kittens are gorgeous. Reminds me of when I bought Harper home. She & TC bonded immediately & I often found TC asleep on the lounge with Harper curled up in his arms. He often washed her & still does. I always smile when I see them & Bentley ...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

The kittens are now 12 weeks old so they went back to the vets yesterday for a health check, second vaccinations and a discussion about neutering. They certainly have come a long way in the past 3 weeks with Jasper putting on over 600g while Morgana Violet has put on well over 400g. Jasper has visib...

Re: Cat Proofing

ThorpeDave and Kay - I missed those photos - those gardens look great :D I recognise the coir mat - B&Q, yes? They've got quite a range starting at £7 if I'm not mistaken, which is pretty cheap compared to conventional pet products ... and my 'new' staircarpet, which is beginning to look a litt...

Re: Large cat flap selective on exit needed

Just a long shot - have you contacted SureFlap to ask if the dual scan pet door is in the pipeline?

Their customer service is excellent and may be able to offer you a solution. I had a custom built cat flap made by them but now need a pet door as my 11 month old kitten is rather large!

Re: Cat Proofing

that looks very neat Dave - I reckon they'll soon sort that out when they all have access - I think you will find they will want to lie in the shade more than the sun, and I have found simple decking slabs make cheap and popular place for mine to lie on, and scratch too a water feature would give t...

Re: Cat Proofing

I put trellis panels diagonally over two corners in my enclosure, which allows me to put a high cat climbing tower underneath without fear of escape, and also allows me to grow clematis up the fence and over the trellis, which provides nice dappled shade for the cats Any chance of a picture? Re: Cat Proofing

After cat proofing our garden, I quickly realised that the cats felt as though they were imprisoned. So I started to think what I could do to ease this feeling. Both Mia and Hendrix like to get high so, I put in some platforms and some catnip plants :D The platforms allow them to see over the bounda...

Re: Next Door's Cat Eating Our Cats' Food

As mentioned by others, getting your cat micro chipped and installing a microchip controlled cat door would solve quite a number of problems. Quite simply their cat could not enter your house and steal food. I would also strongly recommend that your neighbor has their cat neutered. This will reduce ...

Re: Problems introducing kitten to older cat

I will also add that while Feliway can help it is not the miracle cure some of the adverts make out. Agreed and I don't trust the slight burning smell. Our vet recommended the Pet Remedy spray and plug-in and I felt it had more effect. Also it burns at a lower temperature and doesn't give off that ...

I've seen this in Tesco but not tried it https://www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/291900262 Garlic powder??? Garlic is toxic to cats. Sometimes it is like I'm a celebrity get me out of here! - In Hendrix's case, definitely the latter

Re: Problems introducing kitten to older cat

Welcome to the forum Hissing and growling is quite normal and nothing to worry about. Your existing cats will initially feel threatened by the new arrival and will want to let the kitten know who is boss. There is always a pecking order in a multi cat household. which Feliway did you order? Feliway ...

Re: Dried food.... Won't eat wet..

The best food for your cat is the food your cat will eat. As long as it's a nutritionally complete and balanced food, of course. Yes I totally agree with that. I am personally a believer in "as natural as possible" with protein derived from meat rather than plant extracts. A simple test t...

Re: Kitty doing well

Good news that she is now recovering well.

Have you considered "cat proofing" your garden - or part of it?

It can be a simple job but it can also be difficult and expensive. But if you are able to do it, it will keep her safe and give you tremendous peace of mind
