Re: Help needed with incredibly vicious cat

Hi there, I'm sorry but i can only really suggest a behaviourist too. It sounds miserable for all of you. Have you tried zylkene? It's a natural supplement that is supposed to help them deal with stressful situations. I used it with success when we moved our 3 overseas but I'm not sure it would be m...

If the poo is on the lawn and is uncovered it's probably fox poo.

Re: After some advice on a seemingly permanently frightened

I was thinking of this last night and had a couple of thoughts: Have you checked his sight/hearing? Is it possible he might not actually know you're approaching him until the last minute because he doesn't see/hear you and therefore you're startling him? Unlikely I know but worth thinking about? Our...

Re: After some advice on a seemingly permanently frightened

This seems to be the tip that I suggest rather often - have you tried zylkene? It's a natural supplement that you put in their food to help them deal with stressful situations. I used it when I had to move my cats overseas. It has quite a 'natural' effect and just helps them calm rather than knockin...

Re: Robots!

Thanks for the review - that was quite useful. I've been reading the reviews on Amazon too. Our house is quite open plan - all on one level and I think apart from moving the kitchen chairs I shouldn't have to do much. We have our office file server running in the office which is at one end of the ho...

Robots!

I'm thinking of getting a Robot Vacuum to help keep the levels of cat hair down. We have mostly marble flooring and I seem to spend most of my life exasperated at the clumps of cat hair everywhere! Does anyone have one? I'm wondering if they can deal with those bits of cat litter that get everywhere...

Re: George the angry cat

I think it might help to think that he's not being angry but rather he is scared - you said he's had a traumatic life and therefore it's not surprising if he's going to be defensive  As Lilith says give him lots of reassurance - spaces that he can feel safe in and the others can't go until he's...

Re: My two cats very shy !!

To be honest, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

My cats are just the same - when I mentioned it to vet once he said it's better that way - he's seen too many cats that have been harmed by humans so it's probably better in the long run if they aren't too relaxed around strangers. :|

Has his hearing been checked? I think sometimes they can wail at night if they're losing their hearing? I know I would anyway!

Re: Thomas & Mouse doing well..but...

Just a thought - you say the tray is in the Conservatory - do you have blinds up in there or could Thomas have been startled by something (another cat perhaps or his own reflection?) through the window and now not feel too secure toileting there?

Re: Chasing bunnies

We lived in the countryside before we moved here and Jerry's way of thanking us for allowing her to move in was to leave half eaten rabbit carcasses (headless!) under the spare bed... she also kindly brought a live rat home one day - she plonked it down on the living room carpet, rolled on her back ...

Re: Facebook pets for sale and other free ads

I know that a lot of the ads on Scumtree - so it will be the same elsewhere - are scams. They say pets free to good home and you just have to pay the delivery charge... guess what happens.... you pay and nothing ever arrives. There are millions of them because they know stupid people want to buy pet...

Re: Trying to tempt Fluffy to eat

Awww, she's gorgeous :) I don't have any experience of this but the smelliest food I've come across so far is Feringa - it's cereal free, high-meat content, natural etc - available from zooplus. It stinks so much I have to put it in the fridge so it doesn't smell too strongly and even then my fussy ...

Congratulations on the move! Re: New cat owner advice please

I have 3 cats and they are indoors too. I have to trim Bagheera's claws every few months - just her front ones as even though she uses the scratching post regularly her claws start to catch on her blankets, rugs and my clothes when I pick her up and she can't manage to free herself quite often. I us...

Re: Night Time Howling

Bagheera used to go 'hunting' in the middle of the night. We'd wake to hear her meowling somewhere in the house - I'd rush to check if she was ok and she'd be half asleep with one of her toys in her mouth - once it was a 3 foot stuffed snake with a bell at the end which was very funny  She hasn...

Re: Night Time Howling

I agree with Ria about checking his hearing. But if everything turns out ok there (fingers crossed) perhaps try some zylkene in his food for a few weeks? It might help him settle if there's something stressing him?
