Re: And then there were 7 .........

I've just read through this thread - one of the many I suspect I've managed to miss due to being busy at work and there not being enough hours in the day! You've done great work with Teasel. She sounds very much like my Tipsy, who took 7 months to warm up to me and even now 18 months down the line ...

Re: 3 cat household needs behavioral advise

This could also be simply an issue of not enough litter trays for 3 cats, particularly if any of them are "fussy" and prefer to pee in one place and poo in another. An extra tray or two may be worth trying, but some outdoor access to a balcony or courtyard will never go astray if it is av...

Re: Does anyone have any experience with night blindness?

When I Google SAD lights, there is a whole bunch of stuff about seasonal affective disorder - these are lights to help the body clock? And are helpful with pets? Would not be any use to me as I read in bed and always fall asleep with the light on and I suspect anything brighter would be the end of ...

Re: Cat nail Caps

Yes, I agree. Some people just can't seem to deal with scratches on themselves or furniture, no matter how much they think they love their cats! One case I did agree with using soft paws was on TV the other night. The cat's owner was 95 - even a minor scratch to you and I at our respective ages bec...

Re: Cat nail Caps

Poor Denzel. I'm glad he wasn't badly burned. I've always had a terrible fear of this happening, especially as I have an electric stove and I don't stop my cats getting up on to benches (being indoor cats they have enough restrictions). I am always very careful to immediately cover the electric ele...

Re: Just moved house - my plan & any advice please

Trust Dora to be the perfect cat after a move!!  It seems as if Tobie and Lottie are doing quite well. It would be my inclination to have all their stuff in one place as you have, but if there's no way for them to get out doors leave their door ajar and see how they go. If either of the...

Re: Bald kittens.....

They look a little like some cats and kittens I saw online recently - the breed name eludes me atm, but they had a very thin coat - the reason being that some congenital anomaly meant that while they had a "top coat", they didn't have an "undercoat" (Sphynx are the opposite - ha...

Re: New cat in the house, won't stop scratching at our door!

Yes, I suppose leaving the door open could result in bullying, but then again you won't know until you try. To a point hissing and chasing is quite normal behaviour and helps them establish how each fits in to the new dynamic. You'll know if either cat goes overboard. Does Hauser have somewhere hig...

Re: Cat VS Litter Tray

Is it the same bean bag that you mentioned before? If so, how did you clean it? He may be attracted back to that spot by the smell of urine or what you cleaned it with. For example, some cats are attracted to the smell of bleach. As you can see I live in Australia so product names vary, but biologi...

Re: New cat in the house, won't stop scratching at our door!

I'd say as Kimble knows there are other cats and yet is yowling to have the door opened, I would open it part way, so that he can leave if he wishes but has somewhere to run back to if he becomes scared. I have done 8 intros in the past 7 years and only one required a closed door - and then only fo...

You are wise to keep him in. So long as he has lots of stimulation he WILL adjust. Just the thought of a young cat and a high-rise balcony frightens me.

It's been so long since I've had the wonderful experience of my cat having a litter that I truly can't remember for how long she was restless before the birth (I do remember my Siamese girl trying to make a nest in my wardrobe out of crepe paper which dyed her face and mouth bright green!!). If you...

Re: food quantities 11 month old siamese

If this link works it shows a very good comparison between a modern siamese and an old style. The head of the more traditional cat is often described as "apple-shaped". Back in my youth, about 20 eons ago, I had a traditional chocolate point cat who I had mated to a modern blue point male...

Thanks everyone. Shelly, I love the video I've seen of Dora on Facebook, with her rusty little meow and the way she is so child-like and curious. BTW, I'll be in trouble if I don't remember to tell you that Rose, my current avatar puss, is also a tortie. She and Thea are sisters and I would describ...

I am wondering if little Winnie has cerebellar hypoplasia. That's so good to hear. I'd rather have a cat who is a little nervous and heads straight back indoors than one with so much confidence it disappears for hours!! Hopefully he'll be less nervous in time, just enough to really enjoy himself.

Re: My cat keeps weeing on electrics??

Hi, it does sound like it is a behavioural issue. Is your boy an inside or outside cat? If he's an inside cat he may be being disturbed by something which he can see (or smell) outside - other cats in the garden that are spraying for example. Even if he has outdoor time as well, this type of thing ...
