Re: Fast breathing

Thanks for the replies. She's doing everything normal, other than that, and is only 3 so not senior.

I'll keep an eye on her and may take her in for one of the 6 monthly checkups the vets keep on sending through the post.

Fast breathing

I wondered if anyone had any suggestions regarding one of my cats, Tango? I've noticed today that she is breathing quite fast compared to the other cats, maybe 50-60bpm, a little irregularly too. She has no other signs of ill health, and is eating, meowing, purring and running after birds (when one ...

Re: Strange behaviour of bereaved cat.

She's probably looking for him, maybe trying to pick up bits of his scent. When I lost one of my cats last year the others were looking everywhere, inside cupboards, in sheds etc. I also lost one the previous year and the others spent hours on the top of the sheds looking out for him. It's heartbrea...

Re: Experiences with Locator? Looking for some tips

I've used Loc8tor tags selotaped to their collars. They have a range of a few hundred feet. They generally work quite well, and you can find the tag if they drop their (quick release) collars usually. I have the Loc8tor Plus, which gives an audible sound which gets louder as they approach, and direc...

Re: pls help me some advive would be great :) x

One of my cats was unneutered when I had her, and she soon found a place to have her kittens. I decided to put some sheets/towels down behind one of the armchairs in the bay window in the house. When she's ready (usually after 9 weeks) she will have them. All you need to look out for is the odd stra...

It's easier if it's banter, I suppose, and you're used to it.

Re: Sometimes its kinder to keep your thoughts to yourself!

I put a photo of my cats by my computer a couple of years ago at work, and one of my colleagues said 'we don't allow pictures of ugly animals here' (joking, presumably, trying to wind me up), so I said 'Better not put any pictures of your wife up then!'

I'm sure they'll be fine. They'll probably sulk for a while, but if you're worried you could always call the cattery at moments of doubt.

I do what Mark does - collect them up in a plant pot (wearing disposable gloves) and leave them a couple of hundred yards away on some unkempt, unowned ground to climb out, and replace the next time.

Re: Catching mice & birds

I've rescued about 4 birds recently. The cats seem to get them then bring them back unharmed to play with on the lawn. They let me have first access to them and I put them somewhere safe with bird seed and water if possible, while the cats continue to look for the bird, not believing that they could...

I did something similar a couple of years ago. here are some early pictures

I also used 'tree collars' (bits or more rigid mesh around trees).

Re: cat words

Mine certainly know many different words. Even when saying something in conversation to someone else that sounds like one of 'their' words they look up. An example would be 'dreaming' which sounds like 'dreamies', or 'cheeky' which sounds like cheekin (chicken). These words can take on a different m...

Re: Thinking about getting a cat, need advice!

I have a cat-proofed garden (allegedly!), where they can safely play and wander, and also let them out beyond when it's light (if dark I have to go out with them and monitor them). They seem to accept the times they can go out beyond the garden, and seem happy with that.

I tend to go out with my lot when they venture beyond the garden, especially when it's getting dark. I have had Loc8tor tags on collars in the past so you can track them if they're hiding.

Thanks all. He definitely gave her a wormer pill, and advocate on her neck. I thought it was all a bit much for one day. Anyway, she slept for about 5 hours, then got up, ate loads of food and started wandering. This morning she seems more or less normal, eating etc. It's strange, none of them have ...

Lethargy after vaccination

I took Coco for her annual vaccinations today, with flea treatment (advocate) and a wormer pill. She was ok when I got her back and had some more food, but over the last couple of hours she has been very lethargic, and has been sleeping, not wanting her dinner (very unusual) for her. I spoke to the ...

I also hate the way the Daily Fail tries to whip up hatred. Their normal targets are sharks, foxes and false widow spiders, but often dip into attacking cats and dogs (and, of course, immigrants, the EU, the Labour party, people on benefits and the poor!). A vet on the radio said you had more chance...
