Re: Peaches hurt

Poor Peaches :( but at least she's home safe now. Fingers crossed she feels much better tomorrow after a good rest. Very gentle fusses when she's feeling up to them x

Re: Cloudy Jelly In Cat Food..?

It's not something I've noticed, but if you can tell the pouch is dodgy before you open it, perhaps try taking one back to the shop/sending it back to the manufacturer to see what they say?

Re: Moving House

The leases for my building actually say no pets at all. But we all have a share of the company that owns the freehold, and when I moved in there was already a dog in the building. Nobody minded me getting a cat providing there were no issues with 'cat smell'...not sure what the details are in your c...

Re: Operation night time lockdown is a failure

For the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with letting cats outside, I certainly wouldn't assume a cat was any less loved because it was allowed out. The cat I had growing up loved the outdoors, and I think on the whole it's good for cats to be able to spend some time outside. My furries ...

Re: Computer issues caused by furry things

You just need to make sure your cat is compatible with your hardware, and that you're up-to-date with any upgrades. I can highly recommend the iCat:

Re: Gourmet Perle Mon Petit (50g) pouches

Also ideal for cats like Pip who want a pick'n'mix service...but like you I wouldn't pay the full price! No Asda in these parts, however, fingers crossed it'll be on offer in Sainsbury's or Morrisons soon!

Re: Operation night time lockdown is a failure

I am not saying do not get another cat ever, or that there are never circumstances in which rehoming a cat is the best option for the animals involved. But I don't understand why you seem so set on getting a kitten post haste, rather than taking a bit more time to try to resolve Elise's behavioural ...

Re: Operation night time lockdown is a failure

1. I think you are being naive thinking that this applies to all breeders. Although I'm not sure whether you actually believe it or are just telling yourself that. 2. It doesn't matter whether you think you know what the problem is, what is needed is for you to resolve it. And that doesn't change th...

Re: Operation night time lockdown is a failure

Before I start, I am sorry if this sounds harsh, but I'm going to say it anyway. I don't think you're 'horrible', but I do think you're being very naive and rather selfish. 1. Breeders have a vested interest in selling cats, and while I'm sure there are some that genuinely do put the cats first, I s...

Re: Roughly how much do you think it costs to 'keep' a cat .

Um...I stopped keeping track of how much Pip was costing me a while back, I don't really want to know! In terms of food and cat litter I think I probably spend between £80 and £100 pcm for my two. But they give me so much that I think they're worth every penny!

Re: Morrisons carpet freshener DANGER !

I've always avoided using unnecessary household chemicals, especially since I've had my cats, and 'carpet freshener' really doesn't seem like an essential. Bicarb, as Mark says, is a good deodoriser, and vinegar is great for cleaning things like water marks/limescale. Heavy use of antibacterials/ble...

Re: Help-I am an anxious mess about this...

I agree with the others, cats are very opportunistic when it comes to things like food! When I was kid our young tabby boy went missing for a couple of days, and when we went around the neighbourhood asking after him and putting up posters, one of the neighbours said 'Oh, a grey tabby boy? He was in...

Re: Allergy

Hi Carol. Every cat is biologically different, so our immune system treats them all differently. The immune response that causes allergic symptoms results from a reaction to a certain molecule or molecules (probably a protein) produced by the cat (most likely a constituent of its skin cells). Someth...

Re: Probably sounds really silly but.........

I know none of us likes to leave our cats for long periods, and it's especially hard to leave them if we are going away, but I think there is a danger of losing perspective here. We all have a tendency to project our own feelings and emotions onto our pets, but cats are very different from humans, a...

How recently did you get the cat? When I got my Pip I was very sneezy, not a problem I'd ever had much with other cats. After three or four weeks it seemed to pass, I just used my hayfever medication until then...

Re: Probably sounds really silly but.........

I've always felt that my cats almost go into a state of "suspended animation" when I'm out for long periods, as they never seem to eat the extra food I leave out, or even use the litter bowls/extra litter bowls as much as I would expect. I believe that state is known as 'sleeping', Lyn! ;)
