Childhood Pets

This: http://www.catster.com/lifestyle/first-cat-kitten-adoption-never-know-little-girl#comment-1472391071" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has made me think about all my childhood pets and how I miss them all dearly. My mum was never all that keen on animals and so each pet ...

Re: taking kitten to visit new litter????

Yeah it will be stressful taking the kitten to a brand new place with tonnes of different smells and other cats and the travelling to and from. Personally I would not put my cats through that and as I said you'll need to do a introduction and bonding room in your own home when new kitty comes home a...

Re: taking kitten to visit new litter????

anyway the mum and other adult cats can be shut out the room while kittens are meeting? Either way you will need to go through the introduction process when new cat comes home so is it really worth putting your resident cat through this stress?

Re: 13 week old kitten keeps digging water/milk out of bowl!

I read somewhere that cats who "dig" at their water are often displaying a behaviour from the wild - when they used to drink from brackish ponds and puddles etc - the "digging" being to get rid of yucky debris etc on the surface of the body of water. Some of my cats do this, oth...

Re: 3 cat household needs behavioral advise

How was Jackie introduced to the other two? Did you do a proper introduction? Are both females neutered? When did the peeing start? Do you recall any events that happened around that time? Even the changing of furniture can upset cats.

Heart breaking but as you say - needs must, you don't want the guilt of having another cats blood on your hands and that is completely acceptable.

I just hope the poor kitty does find a loving home eventually!

Re: Taking a new outdoor cat

I agree that it is far from cruel keeping a cat indoors - both of mine are indoor only. BUT to appease your wife - is there any way you could cat-proof your garden? (if you have one) or get a outdoor run/pen for kitty to relax in a few hours a day? I've already tried that approach. She just thinks ...

Re: 1year old Kitten wants to move in with the neighbours HE

I have kept him in all day today and we have spent some quality time playing with his mouse. I am just worried when I let him out he will go straight back. Really upsets me as Buzz has a loving home and someone is enticing him away from us. Unfortunately it will take a lot longer than a day - a cou...

Re: our 13 year old female cat has been popping all over hou

Have you took her to the vets? If not take her to the vets. She could have a underlying health problem that is causing it such as arthritis which would also tie in with you saying she is slow. Maybe get a low sided litter tray that she doesn't have to strain to get into - if it is pain that is stopp...

 sorry, but I had to laugh - I have the same problem with Lara sometimes and she's 2 years old and can pee for Europe, let alone England! If the litter is not deep enough she'll get so enthusiastic 'preparing' sometimes that she'll shift it all to one side then pee on the bare surface and her ...

Re: Warning about Morrisons own brand Cat Tunnel with dangle

From what I can see the majority have only one string with toy - morrisons has two strings with two toys right beside each other at the opening of the tunnel.

I really don't know how I never realised when I bought it that it was unsafe :( horrible way to learn!

Warning about Morrisons own brand Cat Tunnel with dangle toy

Last night my worst nightmare nearly came true. David and I were in bed and the boys were playing with a new play tunnel I bought them from Morrisons - it had two dangling balls and they were loving it. Then I heard strange meows from Whisky so I went through to the hall to find out what was wrong a...

Re: Litter tray problems

Do you know what litter Whisky was used to before you got him? maybe give that a go? Another option is to put a puppy pad under the litter in the hope that his claws aren't going to shred it to bits because then at least it'll absorb his wee's Also try a deeper litter tray (just make sure he can st...

Re: Litter tray problems

He is nine weeks old, which means he was seven weeks old when you got him, so yes I think that was way too early and it may play a part. Kittens should not be seperated til at least eight weeks. Where do you adopt him from? I know that they shouldn't be separated that early. This explains it all: h...

Litter tray problems

Not sure if this fits into this section - move it if it needs to be moved. Right so Whisky will be 9 weeks old tomorrow but since he came to stay with us (2 weeks ago) we have noticed that he is having a problem with the litter tray. He is a great little digger but seems to dig so much that he is mo...

Not really.. The best place to do it will be our lounge... Although that is his territory. Re: Fighting cats

How far away should we start them? There's only a couple of metres from the top of our stairs to the lounge door.. Do you think that would be enough? My other option would be a room divider and having them on either sides of it in the lounge.. Maybe I could start with outside the door first and see...

Re: Buying a cat from a breeder

Don't get me wrong, we have to protect certain breeds but at the moment in the current climate it would be nice to have a few years ban to help re home the rescues. I would love nothing more than be in a position to with a clear conscience go to a breeder and get the breed I want but in all moral c...
