Re: Anybody familiar with this kind of odd cat snorting?
My late cat Shadow had mild gingivitis right from kittenhood. I had some tests done, but no cause was apparent. She could eat perfectly well and had no discomfort, so all I did was feed her on large-kibble dry food designed to keep the teeth clean. Her teeth started falling out when she was 5. Again...

Re: Cats and Christmas trees
i know of two cats strangled in Christmas tree lights so far this year. That surprised me. I could anticipate the electricity being a hazard, because some cats chew cables. But I hadn't thought of a cat getting tangled in a cable to that extent. I suppose they were climbing the tree? Does anyone kn...

Yes, your photo shows up fine. I'm using a desktop computer - I haven't got round to internet on the move, yet.

Re: Posting pics
Pretty cat, and looking very comfortable! Now how do get it to show on the side when I post something. You need to make an avatar. Click on your name at the top of the forum, click "User Control Panel," and from there go to "Profile." At that point you can upload an avatar, which...

Re: rehomed ferel cat
I'm no expert, and I haven't faced this problem, but it sounds to me as if your cat is marking your house as her territory. Can you handle her? I know it can be difficult, with feral cats. If you could take her (or him, if that's the case) to a vet and get her neutered, that might cut down on this b...

Re: Would you trust this request?
I wouldn't trust it. The charities usually charge a "rehoming fee" of maybe £30-£50. If the advertiser can't afford that, how are they going to afford the day-to-day costs of keeping a cat? And if the cat costs them nothing, they may not value it. If I had a cat that I needed to rehome, an...

Absolutely. It's hard to imagine why anybody wouldn't get their pets chipped.meriad wrote:thank goodness for microchips!

Re: 3 indoor cats need short term home.... Urgently required.
I'd be happy to take them, but I'm over 400 miles away in Dumfries, and you could probable put them in a cattery for 3 weeks, for less than the cost of bringing them here and fetching them back. I hope you can get an offer from someone in a more sensible location for you. Good luck,

I wonder if your household is simply too busy for Mittens. Maybe he'd be happier somewhere else, as the only pet in a home.

Re: pet insurance?
When I first adopted two cats, I insured them. I had a couple of minor veterinary problems with them, paid the excess and let the insurance pay the rest. At one point my older cat needed some dental work done under anaesthetic. That wasn't covered by the insurance, and I paid around £200 for it. As ...

Okay, story over. KittyWitty has contacted me to say that she is now giving her cats to her ex, so that they don't have to move.

Re: Temp Foster Home Needed!
I sent her my address and phone number, but I don't have hers. The last message I had, she asked if she could come and see me and have a chat. I replied saying that would be fine, but then I didn't hear any more. I sent her one further e-mail, with no result. Maybe, as you suggest, she had computer ...

Re: Temp Foster Home Needed!
I'm getting very worried about KittyWitty. We exchanged a couple of e-mails on Wednesday evening, and everything seemed fine, but she didn't reply to my last one. And she doesn't appear to have been on the forum since early Thursday morning. I could understand if she had found a more suitable foster...

Re: Problems with neighbours
Antifreeze can be fixed if caught early. Did you see "The Supervet" the other night? A cat came in with what was eventually determined to be antifreeze poisoning. The antidote is ethanol (alcohol) but they said there wasn't any in stock in the surgery. (Something I find a bit surprising, ...

Re: Meowing all night!!!!
Thanks, Meriad. I once had a cat who needed several teeth removed. When his mouth had healed, I fed him dry food to keep the remaining teeth clean, but then he had a couple of bouts of cystitis. When I talked to the vet, I asked about putting him back on wet food, even adding a little water to it, t...

Re: Meowing all night!!!!
I've been following this thread, although I have nothing constructive to add. But when the original poster said: I used to free feed dry food but he became over weight. Then he had urinary problems so I can no longer feed him wet food at all. - I did wonder if that was a mis-type, and what they mean...

Re: Temp Foster Home Needed!
I live in Dumfries, which is about 80 miles from you, and I don't have a car, so transport may be an issue. If you think you could arrange that, I'd be interested. I adopted 2 cats in 2001. The older one died in 2012, the other one early this year. I've been missing the company, and wanting to foste...

It would be helpful if you gave your location. Good luck in finding a home for your pretty cats.
