If there is a way to make a secure area outside with a temporary cage, could you open the windows as soon as you get there?

Re: Snow Bengal needs a new home
Sorry for your loss. A desirable cat like that probably shouldn't be advertised on the internet without the support of a rescue who can properly vet people. When I was looking for an indoor only cat, my local rescue told me that's the one thing they have more demand than supply of, so I hope you won...

Isn't it ironic that you joined the forum 7 years ago asking why 9 year old Charlie who used to be out all the time and only come back for meals suddenly didn't want to go out any more since you moved house.

Re: A question of teeth
She sort of did it again this morning but it was in a catnip-induced washing frenzy, where tongue and paw don't coordinate so everything is all over the place and I try so hard not to laugh out loud. No I can't do anything to Molly, even the vet knows not to give me tablets because I won't give them...

Re: A question of teeth
Thanks for your insight that is really helpful. Sounds like Mila does the same thing with strings and at first after Molly's dental she would do exactly that, spit it out, and then lost interest in the game altogether after a few attempts. She has only pawed at her mouth once though but the descript...

Re: Conner the one eyed cat.
So sorry for this awful accident that has taken little Conner away from you too soon. You obviously love him so dearly and gave him comfort and joy in the time he was with you, and offered him the chance to just be a cat, which is all he ever knew how to be. Don't let anyone tell you different. I'm ...

Re: Please help
Sorry to say this sounds like something a vet should look at. If you're in the UK perhaps the PDSA or Blue Cross might be able to help if money is a problem? But without a definite diagnosis it's probably not the best idea to guess and try things as you can do more harm than good. Sorry.

We get all our special foods from Pet Drugs Online wherever possible. Another online place was selling one of our foods £53 a 5kg bag against RRP of £55 but we get if from PDOL for £35 - it's a massive difference, just be sure to google around. Also most vets stock and recommend one brand, but there...

A question of teeth
Molly, age 14, rescued at age 6 8 years ago, traumatised minimum handling cat. Had what appeared to be a lump in the gum behind a lower canine, in view of age and minimum handling she was taken straight in for a dental 6 months ago without examination prior. She was kept in overnight and pre-op test...

As you know from all your other animals, they don't read the instructions on what age they are supposed to be sensible enough to not do this that or the other. My partner moved in with me with his 7 year old dog and warned me that dog had been known to go rooting in litter trays for delicacies in th...

Re: Help With Litter
It might be the depth of litter, we use a clay clumping and if it's not deep enough she digs down to the bottom and then the clump is stuck to the tray. Do rabbits and ferrets dig before depositing? If not, that could be one difference. I have always used clay, though clumping is more recent, and so...

Good that her kidneys are in good shape. Metacam is a Non-Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drug (NSAID). Difficult to say. Being an indoor cat she is much less fit than a cat that goes outside. She has always landed a bit heavy when jumping down since I had her 8 years ago, but she started showing discomfort and lameness on about 3 or 4 months ago I think and became shy of getting down from the low lev...

I stumbled upon this rather interesting article and thought it would be rude not to share https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20210519-the-hidden-reason-processed-pet-foods-are-so-addictive It's all about the additives that go into pet foods and makes some rather interesting comments on the types of ...

Sounds all good so far, I can see him becoming a pain and refusing to come in though. Is there a very small window you could leave open, if you are happy for him to be out at night? Otherwise the cat flap in a panel has another advantage, that the flap could be set to in only overnight - but that do...

Where would you like me to start on why I believe an awful lot about spookies especially involving animals! Welcome to Cat Chat. If you read PetMD I would just point out that vomiting is not on the list of symptoms for PLE or hypoalbuminemia. The www is brilliant as long as you stick to the point and keep focused. As you say, wait for the rest of the results and ... don't panic. Given that the symptoms ha...

MPV is Mean Platelet Volume and is used to help diagnose (sorry) bone marrow issues. I think if my cat came home from a groomer's with fleas I would be pretty upset and making complaints. That said, they breed fast but not that fast, so to get a full-on infestation taking so long to clear, something seems wrong. Check with the vet who sold you the spray if it's possible they have be...

I'm guessing the xrays rule out vitamin A toxicity then. Have you discussed micronutrient deficiency and electrolyte imbalances?

Great wisdom from fjm as usual. Perhaps not so much with pet drugs but you have to remember pharma companies are extremely powerful and drugs are not always given or refused licences entirely based on science. Take the campaign against the Oxford Covid vaccin...

More things vets do differently! My vets routinely do pre-op bloods regardless of age and health, and I don't know about age but both mine had dentals after diagnosis of very early renal issues and had a night in before on IV fluids, and one had a second night after as well. Can I ask, your young ca...

Re: For those who feed their cats Felix, has anyone noticed that their cats have stopped eating it?
Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there two separate things being mixed up here? One is the dry food from Fold Hills possible contaminated with mycotoxins due to poor storage that may be causing a spike in cases of pancytopenia and all affected foods have been subject to a recall since June. Re: 6 Hour Flight with 14 Year Old Cat in Cargo. Just Diagnosed with Stage 2 Kidney Disease
As for renal wet food, welcome to the club, as fjm and I are both, along with many others here, in the thick of the very same battle. If you're happy for her to eat some dry, the dry renal foods tend to be more palatable, and I find Hills has never been refused by any cat I'm aware of (correct me if...
