Re: Sun cream

I was reading about something that you paint on and it lasts a few days, I can't remember what it Was. It would be no good for Jess though, he would never let us put it on him! Hat ever you use they will lick it off so you need to check it has no nasties in, so many things are poisonous to cats!

Re: kittens

They will be fine, they have each other for company, just make sure they have enough litter trays and some food down in case they get hungry. They will probably get into a routine of sleeping all day and running about like lunatics when you get back, so you will need to play with them a lot before b...

Re: Sun cream

Is that E45 stick and children's sun cream safe to use? I've been sort of looking into this as Mika has very fine hair in front of his ears and one day after sitting sunbathing all day he looked a bit red. I've also been trying to get some material to make a big sun shade cover for the cat run as he...

Re: At my wits end - do I have my 7 year old put to sleep?

Poor Teddy. I also have no experience of this but can I suggest you contact Teddy's breeder or an exotic shorthair cat club to see if they have any information? I only say this because I'm wondering if its a breed thing with them having flat faces, my mums old pug had breathing difficulties when he ...

Re: Should we get a playmate for our kitten?

Please post back with how Monster likes the cats meow. I've just had a look at it and I think mine would love it. Ideal for those days when I really really really don't want to wave the flying frenzy toys about! (I usually don't get much choice, I get bullied into it) Actually that's another toy Mon...

I've never managed to teach Mika to fetch, he just doesn't get it. They are very dog like. Having said that I've always had trouble teaching dogs to fetch too so it's probably me doing it wrong! Mika just uses his energy and intelligence for mischief

Re: Advice Sought Growing Grass For My Cats

I have trouble with cat grass too, Mika loves it but just rips it all out by the roots and leaves it strewn all over. He obviously eats some because he's always sick and gets 'danglers' strung together with grass at the other end! I got a lovely Catit tray but the seeds went mouldy so I'm trying tha...

Re: Cat Harness

I looked at them walking jackets for my Siamese (who is too naive to be let out on his own) but went for keeping him in a cat run in the end. They do look the best type as far as harnesses go. Does he really need to be out? They are quite people orientated cats, mine is usually inside helping me, ev...

Re: The Pics thread!

Shouldn't her name be Mamma Cats??  She's just beautiful. It started off as Mamma Cat when we found her with kittens, but kind of turned into Mama Cass which we like (although I do feel a bit daft shouting that her tea is ready if she's not in the garden waiting for it!) The little boy ...

Re: Outdoor fun

I nearly did something similar to yours round our patio but we rarely have the patio doors open because its so cold in the shade and the cat flap in the back door means they can come and go as they want. The disadvantage is it's a pain for us to go in and out the back door like we used to and we don...

I've just discovered this thread whilst trying to figure out how to post pictures, so here's one of the beautiful Mama Cass. Eric, Mika has spied Oleg in the background and is very jealous! I have Bogden and Mika steals him and gets so excited he dribbles all over him, consequently Bogden lives in t...

Re: Outdoor fun

OK I hope this works, it has taken me ages..... Ah great yes. I'll add another then, the top one is the bit round the door that we have to go out through to get to the patio and the cats go through to get down the tunnel to the end. The bottom one is the main bit, it looks a bit bare but the boys lo...

Re: Outdoor fun

That's where we got our Larch frame from. It just fits nicely in but takes up the whole run on it's own so we don't go in (our run has a tunnel to get into it anyway so we can only get in by going the long way around outside - I will try to remember to get a picture tomorrow) We have a cat flap into...

Re: Furry intruders in our cat proofed garden. PLEASE HELP!

Do you think they are two little feral kittens wanting to make friends? If they have owners I wouldn't feel bad about shoo-ing them on their way. We have loads of cats coming into our garden and I feel mean shoo-ing them but it's not fair on my two when they are stuck in their cage and all the other...

Re: Chasing Bees and Wasps

Feverfew is good for repelling bees and wasps, but alas it's on the toxic to cats list :(
Whilst looking I have come across sage, dill and mint also referenced as maybe repelling insects and I can't see these on the toxic list so there is hope.....

I have indeed, I'll sort some photos out after work tomorrow. It's got a larch climbing frame in which I had seen recommended on here. It was quite expensive but it was easy (for OH) to put together, instructions were fine but I think some brute force might have been needed - I'll check, I don't thi...

Re: Chasing Bees and Wasps

I have just read that FEVERFEW, which is an attractive daisy like plant, is good for cats (in fact can be used medicinally for cats) and puts off bees and wasps... If this can be corroborated it would be an ideal choice for some pots in the enclosure! Ooo definitely going to look that one up, sound...

hmmm yes I've just read that post from him; I'll give him Spider-cat! The mesh/wire is already quite fine, I don't know how the big bees are getting in really because they can't seem to get out again. Chasing Bees and Wasps

We're having a problem with bees and wasps getting in the cat run and then struggling to get out again. Today I'm sure Jess got stung on the foot while he was biffing a wasp about. It didn't deter him though and later I had to chase them both into the house while I opened the run door to help a huge...

Re: New kittens - how far in the car?

Oh I just read that the kittens will not have had their second vaccinations because they are too young? If the "breeder" is that good they will keep hold of them for longer and vaccinate before they leave. Sound's like they're doing it on the cheap selling beforehand for maximum profit :( ...

Oh isn't he stunning! I've just been reading on another thread that he has let you clean his teeth! Very impressive. I wish we had started that with our Mika. Jess on the other hand would never be up for that - he's highly suspicious of everything unless he's in a sleepy mood :)

Re: New kittens - how far in the car?

Well I know there will always be accidental litters (cat escapes prior to neutering appointment? or even irresponsible owners assuming all other cats out there are neutered so they needn't bother?) but yes I naively didn't know people were planning litters of moggies. Such a shame. Actually that rem...

Oh dear, that must have been so upsetting. If I were you I would contact the vets (or crematorium if you have their details) and explain - there is probably someone else out there still waiting to get their ashes back and wondering where they are. If they can't resolve the mix up then why don't you ...

Re: New kittens - how far in the car?

We travelled for about an hour with our kitten who was good as gold. Our previous cats that were also good as gold on the ~30 minute journey home....but after that on any journeys (which inevitably lead to the cattery) they both wailed and wailed! Hunnybunny I am actually shocked that people are let...

Re: Operation night time lockdown is a failure

Hello, I know what you are saying about returning the kitten if things don't work out and it does sound like you have found a good breeder. In reality though this wont happen - you are already attached and you haven't met the kitten yet, do you really think you could give it back? When we had just M...
