Is there ever a way to "get over" it?

So this might seem random but after I explain you'll understand why it's not... It's coming up to the day that marks 14 years after the loss of our beautiful boy Spike.... And lately I've thought about him a lot more. I don't know if it's because I was still very young when it happened or if you jus...

Re: My Boys Enjoying the Fleeting Sun.

Awwwww!! They're gorgeous. They find any patch of sun to bask in. My Dave hates it when it rains. He loves to 'Lie a basking in the sun' and when it's raining, he sulks and I suffer. :D Thank you :) Haha! Tiger sits looking out the window trying to catch the rain when it's raining. Their lovely war...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

Just catching up - I'm so glad Lily got her furever home, and glad that this lovely boy might get a chance at a brighter future. Good on you for giving him a chance, and hopefully you've laid some valuable groundwork. :) By the way, Sue, "I had a friend who could never catch her horse. She too...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

4 weeks is not that long at all & and as you say he was a fully grown tom, so no wonder he is still wary, to gain trust after that time, is going to take a little longer, but you will get there i am sure. As I said, he's going to another foster who has a larger area to give him. As suggested ab...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

@ Lilith: I hope he does calm down, I had such high hopes for him after his behaviour towards me outside when he was still a street cat... I was even looking at keeping him! But my OH puts his foot down when it comes to cats... He doesn't want to exceed 3 cats and wants the last one to be his Ragdol...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

Even shallow scratches can hurt! Yeah, it's a normal human reaction to pull away but of course the cat then comes after you and has another go; I had to learn to keep still with Ali Kat; he had a head like a rock python and jaws like an Ali-gator (one of his nicknames.) His other nicknames were Ali...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

Wow, there's a difference in colour between Cereus and Saffron (my butter) but she's 7 now and I got her when she was 18 months and they do change colour drastically. Love your snakes' names; my corns mostly have 'corny' names (my 'ghost' morph is 'Spooky' lol) but my royal pythons are Shahi, Saada...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

Good luck with the lad - it can take a lot of time but they do come round :) Off-topic here but what morph is Cereus? Beautiful snake! I've seen a vid of a creamsicle corn that looked similar but there are so many corn morphs that I've lost track. I have 5 royal pythons, a carpet python, a pine sna...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

Bless him, he looks and sounds like a reincarnation of my horrible (and adored) Ali Kat, a mature un-neutered tom who moved in with me (with menaces!) That cat chomped and clawed me to bits (I ended up on antibiotics twice) but he owned me! Neutered and regularly fed he became a most beautiful cat ...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

Well done for taking on another cat - but talk about in at the deep end! Unfortunately sometimes those cats are worse in a crate as they don't cope in confined spaces - we had a semi feral who was fine in a room, but when transferred to a pen, she was a lot more aggressive and unhandleable. Unfortu...

Re: Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

I'm glad your little girl has found a good home. Regarding your other foster, 3 weeks is no time at all for nervous cats to come round, you need to be looking at months before deciding - how much time are you spending with him every day? I'm spending as long as I can with him, which lately has been...

Lily's Gone to her Furever Home!

Lily went to her new home last night after the home check came back clean. I've had a message this morning saying she spent all night on one of the beds and has eaten breakfast this morning! These are my last photo's of her here with me. She curled up on the bed with me and my fiancé yesterday after...

Well, we're looking for another cat!

My fiancé absolutely loves Ragdolls.... He did have his mind set on breeding them for a while BUT he recently changed his mind on that and now wants to rescue a Ragdoll and have it neutered/spayed if it's not already. He doesn't care about gender, age he says preferably young-ish but doesn't have to...

Lily Had Visitors Tonight!

Tonight has been fairly eventful :) My little foster girl, Lily, has had visitors with the intention of adopting her. Before I joined I had a choice of three usernames that I wanted to use, and one won because I felt it was best lol. First one I thought of was "MissCosmo". I used to have the username MissCosmo12345 on another website though and the amount of times it got misunderstood was annoying... Ever...

I love Orchids but knowing their difficult care requirements I could never bring myself to buy one. That's what I always thought. But I gave in and bought 4 different ones last Christmas. They are flowering again - even better than before. If you like I can send you a PM and tell you how I did it. ...

Ooh another Orchid fan! :) We had a young black cat we called Lily! She turned up, out of the blue, one February, a couple of months before we found Bobby. She took to him straight away and brought him up as her own. We thought they would be together forever. But the following February - she vanish...

Nice to meet you! I am Irish, living in county Meath. I have a small sanctuary with 32 cats, 4 dogs, 3 snakes, four ex battery hens and an evil rooster who was gonna be PTS for attacking children. He now attacks me instead but I can fend him off with my trusty snow shovel most of the time! Your cat...

Re: Thought I Should Probably Introduce Myself...

Hello and welcome! What beautiful cats you have and well done on the fostering. Can I just add one more comment about the collar. It doesn't really matter that your kitties are indoor only. They can still get their collars caught on something - cats do tend to climb and squeeze into tight spaces! N...

So I've only had one post on here so far and I think it went down the wrong way. I thought I should probably introduce myself properly. My name is Alishia, I am a young woman living in the UK. I own a fair amount of pets: 17 reptiles(snakes & geckos), 2 tropical fish tanks and then my 2 cats. Bo...

Re: Foster Kitty Questions?

Honestly, if you are going to mix foster cats with your own, you really should isolate fosters for at least two weeks, especially ones with that kind of background as things like cat flu can take up to two weeks to show If she's only recently spayed and was pregnant, her hormones won't have settled...
