Re: Cat suffering from sporadic vomiting/diarrhoea

Whiskas dry is pretty much junk food, and I'd certainly suggest you find a better, but if it is what he is used to, and had in the cattery, it's not likely to be at the root of his current problems

Re: Help with Ragdoll

a lot of her stressed out behaviour may be because she can sense your OH's hostility towards her, and if this is unlikely to change then rehoming her might be the only solution you will need to be careful finding the right home though, as her current problems will probably persist for a while in a n...

Re: Cat suffering from sporadic vomiting/diarrhoea

best thing would be to feed him only boiled chicken breast and white fish (coley will do) for a couple of days, and only water to drink, to give his digestive system time to settle - if he is still suffering d&v then a vet visit will be necessary

I assume the cattery insisted on vaccinations?

Re: My cat's soul... Where is it now? :(

my beloved Trigger was pts last October, and is buried under a slab in the patio, but his grave isn't that important to me - what has given me a lot of comfort is a framed photo of him, enlarged to picture size, hanging on the most prominent wall in the sitting room - he gazes out on to the room and...

Re: my older cat is crying every night

cats do get dementia, and the fact that she cries when she wakes up sounds to me as if she's disorientated - just calling out to her when she does it may be enough to reassure her if nothing else works, you may find confining her to a small area with her dishes and tray overnight helps, as she may a...

Re: Help - how can we get rid of the litter box?

having got used to finding bits of cat litter in my bed, I have been pleased with Nature's Calling, a rather strange litter made from the lining of walnut shells, and a very dark brown, but it is very fine, clumps well if you leave it a short while, and tracks the least of any litter I have used up ...

Re: Help - how can we get rid of the litter box?

unrealistic, I think - imagine you were prevented from using the loo for 14 hours every night if you remove the tray you are inviting accidents, and cats are naturally clean, so that would distress them as much as you better to explore different types of litter box and litter - with the choice avail...

I'd be tempted to try her back on the Metacam too

when I had my Trigger on it all his long-standing gut problems cleared up, and he ate really well for the first time for years, so I think it must have been working on some internal inflammation, although that wasn't what it was prescribed for

it's lovely that he's settled so well, but so sad to think what a struggle he must have had to get enough to eat when a stray - the world is a very cruel place for any animal which is old, and going deaf, and not seeing too well I'm so glad he's washed up with you, and I guess he will not be moving ...

sounds like play to me, as neither seems to be afraid of the other, or seeks to avoid him/her

ears back, violent tail swishing and low growling would worry me, but yowling, hissing and pawsicuffs would not - just as well as I've had more than 4 years of it with Tiffany and Tosker!

hyperthyroidism tends to occur in cats older than Thom, and the main symptoms are increased appetite and loss of, or at least no gain of, weight - it can also cause jumpiness and agitation, but not aggressiveness as such - a blood test would make sure though, and possibly throw up something else goi...

he'll be used to seeing other cats as a food threat, having had to compete outside, and being still an entire tom it'll probably get better given time and after his snip, but I would do your best meanwhile to give them as much of their own space as possible, and definitely feed your two incumbents a...

I used to grow it - I bought wheat or oat seed on EBay, and it is easy to grow I must say, however, that my cats much prefer the young shoots of couch grass, which I cut from the roadside during spring and summer - in fact, I might try planting up some roots in early spring and growing it on the patio

I have the ideal set up, with an enclosed patio area at the back, about 30ftx20ft, but of course people living in flats don't have this option the one thing I would say to anyone who owns or is contemplating an indoor cat, please try to find them a spot where the sun comes in, as all the cats I have...

I'm sure the older lad will carry on doing his outdoor rounds as long as food is on offer - the only difference will be he will not be looking for females in season, and not fighting other toms over them your other cats will no doubt get used to seeing him around, and should he become too old or fra...

we need some more info here, Ryan, to be able to advise how many litter trays do you provide for the 4 cats? do they also have access to outside, and if so, how many actually use the trays? are you sure he is weeing, rather than spraying? spraying would be a very natural reaction to having two stran...
