Re: Need support..I adore beloved Gandhi..BUT.

Hi Nicky, thanks for your response. It was just a bit of whimsy relating Gandhi's night time grooming habits. He is still a blooming nuisance at bedtime and beyond, dear, sweet wee Cody was the only one who could settle him, but he has been a lot better of late and we can cope better now we are gett...

Re: Need support..I adore beloved Gandhi..BUT.

Hi Guys, beloved Gandhi continues to 'thrive' although he can still be a blooming nuisance at bedtime. Last night he settled down on my pillow, wrapped around my head, his soft cheek on my forehead. Lovely, thought I..until he started thoroughly washing his bum, slurp slurp slurp.. on it went. He th...

Re: Need support..I adore beloved Gandhi..BUT.

So glad to read this. Btw my neighbour started her cat on grain free food which has done wonders for him - just goes to show how diet can affect the digestion so much depending on the cat so it’s always worth exploring options and I do think sometimes too many meds make things worse. Great news :) ...

Re: Feeling like I am slipping back into depression

You know what Bertie? In my youth I was always told I should block out any distressing thoughts, but after the death of my young daughter, a friend who still is to this day, a practising Buddhist, taught me to accept that such an action is impossible. Have you ever tried to make your mind a blank? E...

Oh Honey, don't despair, your feelings of loss and grief are perfectly natural. I had a 1yr old cat 30yrs ago, he was sitting on garden wall, my neighbours kids knocked on door. They had seen some schoolkids pick him up and carry him across road. Before they could do anything, kids lost interest, dr...

Hi. I’m looking for advice as I am at my wits end. My 9 year old male cat has over the past week decided he dorsn’t Like any of the cat food I give him. Re: Need support..I adore beloved Gandhi..BUT.

Thankyou for your responses and helpful suggestions. Beloved Gandhi is a big, thick furred 7kg cat, who had been severely maltreated, suffered from being used as a football, hence the injured bowel. Because of his size and problems, he had difficulty being adopted. Last year, he developed thyroid pr...

Need support..I adore beloved Gandhi..BUT.

Hi Guys. I am feeling very upset today and need to offload. As regular Cat chat pals will recall, we unexpectedly lost dear Armand and sweet Cody in early 2016, leaving us with our much loved big grey cushion of a cat.. Gandhi. He is a character, not really the cat for us but we brought him into our...

Re: Advice please... Lucy has an allergy - but to what??

My Cody used to nibble and scratch at her belly until it became sore, red raw and weeping. The Vet gave her a steroid injection {nobody could ever get a pill down her] which last 6 weeks and was amazing, miraculous results. However, to cut a long story short, it turned out that my wee darling was al...

Thanks for your hugs and thoughts, folks. Coming to terms with his death has been much harder than any of my other cats, I think because it was so sudden and he was so young - all the others were in mid to late teens and I had known they were on the way out for several months before the end. I am g...

Re: Rehomed stray cat - voracious appetite

I agree entirely with everything Ruth and Lilith have suggested. Back in 2014, we had a cat dumped on the allotments. She adored human company, a lost soul. Anyway, boy could she eat, 4 pouches down the hatch without lifting her head. I named her 'Chunky', and to say my cabbages were well fertilised...

Gandhi's grub

My beloved big cat Gandhi, has not been well. Some months back, we were told he had early onset kidney disease, along with his thyroid problems, causing him to vomit stuff from both ends in a most unnatural manner. He rapidly lost weight and, despite having loved Felix all of his 14yrs, he would onl...

Well, here we are, not 1yr but 2 yrs on since the loss of wee Cody and Armand. This morning I wept painful tears, the sun was flooding through the windows and a sudden memory of the day in May we adopted,or rather Cody adopted, us. Oh how happy we were. It was an absolute scorcher of a weekend. She ...

Ok thanks for the replies, can I put salmon oil on her food, the last time I gave her salmon she wouldn't eat it, it might be the same with the salmon oil though. Marg. Hi guys, just thought I would let you know that dear Gandhi has surprised us all and is 'thriving'. I'm glad you are feeling more positive and he must be really early stages if the vet didn't even want to change his food. Hello there and apologies for the long title. Basically I have a cat, she is the only one now [after her sister had to be pts a few months or more ago]. Thank you sweets in my lifetime I've lost 4 cats. Was thinking of getting a friend for Fry, but maybe she prefers being alone now. It's difficult isn't it? Hi I have a lovely 9 month old, spayed, female black rescue cat called Mort. She is extremely friendly, so much so that she has to be kept as a house cat because she would let strangers pick her up. She will greet visitors to our house, let them carry her around like a baby and is generally very mu...

I actually use kattovit renal as it has a higher meat content than RC, although I've just bought her a box of hills that is supposed to help both kidneys and joints. I thought senior food had less phosphorus. She's had Purina renal too and enjoyed it, although her levels came down just changing her...

Honey, this is 'typical behaviour' for many cats. My wee geezer Armand, hated being picked up, never sat on a lap but would happily wedge his little black body between my thigh and the edge of the sofa, snooze away. He also followed me everywhere, if he heard my voice, he would pop out for copious s...
