Re: bad eating habits/very big eater

Our rescue cat of 3 weeks Molly is the same; she's 1, and in my opinion rather skinny. She came from an abusive owner and was then in a shelter run with 2 bigger cats so I don't think she's ever had lots of food. She's not fussed on biscuits and will only eat them if every scrap of wet good is gone ...

Re: Cheeky Cat Conundrum

Whilst I agree that he does need neutering, I had a cat who lived to the ripe old age of 20 as an indoor/outdoor cat. He was neutered and massively loved at home, but we found out in a similar fashion that he was visiting at least 2 houses on the street playing the starving cat card!! Therefore he m...

Re: Play biting

It might be something like that as she only ever bites my fingertips never my knuckles or hands.

Re: Play biting

Molly doesn't get aggressive at all, in fact she only really uses her claws on her toys. If she climbs over us etc she keeps them in. I wondered if she was teething but she's too old so I'm not sure why she does it. She won't cuddle with us but she lets me stroke her now so we're improving! With Arn...

Re: Play biting

She had a good old chomp on my fingers this morning!! My husband was on his first night shift since we got her, and instead of spending the night in our bedroom windowsill she spent the whole night on the floor right next to my side of the bed ☺️ When I got up she face rubbed and licked my fingers t...

Re: Clingy Cat

My Molly tried to get in my trousers when I came home from work today! We've only had her 3 weeks and although she's still not 'cuddly', she will now let me stroke her (my husband is not allowed!) and she follows me everywhere except the sofa and the bed, the 2 places I wish she would snuggle down on!

Play biting

I wonder if anyone has any experience of their cat greeting them in the morning/after work by face rubbing (normal) but then gentle biting of fingers? I don't mind this but I just wonder if it's normal? My cat is 1 so she's not teething. Thanks!

Re: 4 year old cat and new anxiety

I think maybe it's a buildup of lots of things; even if the older cat couldn't play, he was still her companion and kitty friend. You've moved to a new, bigger house and she's trying to get used to that and being on her own. She's used to being in your room at night, and is probably upset that she's...

Re: Meet My Cats (I Have 14!) Pudding

Pudding looks beautiful. I grew up with black and white DLH's. My husband and I have just adopted a black BSH called Molly, she's a small 1 year old and still shy so far, we're only 2 weeks in though. Hoping she'll become a cuddle lover!

Re: Will our cat become cuddly?

Thanks everyone. She actually jumped into my lap for about 5 seconds last night, I think she thought her teaser got was up with me but it's all progress!

Will our cat become cuddly?

We've had our new rescue cat for 2 weeks now, and although she is definitely more confident than she was when we first got her, she doesn't seem to like touch. She has a 90 degree kink in the end of her tail which we are unaware how she got, so it may be that she was hit or something previously. I h...

Thanks everyone. Extra water in her wet food seems to be working, but I'll try different types of water/ different locations etc to see if that helps

Re: New cat not drinking

Thanks everyone. I'm going to move her water tonight and see if it makes a difference, I put extra water in her wet food last night and the bowl was licked clean when I came down this morning!

Re: New cat not drinking

We give her half and half; she gets a pouch of wet food in 2 servings, and we keep a small amount of dry food in another bowl in case she's hungry at night or while we're out. We got her 9 days ago from a sanctuary where she was the smallest, shyest cat in her run, and she was originally taken away ...

New cat not drinking

More questions about Molly! She seems to be getting braver and more friendly, and definitely meows less at night. She's eating fine and weeing/pooing fine, but I've noticed she just doesn't seem to be drinking much of anything? She also had the runs for a couple of days so I'm aware that she probabl...

Re: Cat doesn't like my smell?

Molly is exactly the same, she's enjoying herself then suddenly she's like 'oh no I'm meant to be scared of you!' She doesn't like her back end being touched either, but she's got a huge kink in the none of the end of her tail which doesn't seen to hurt but looks like it must have been trapped at so...

Re: Cat doesn't like my smell?

Also, she follows me round like a shadow and loves playtime one minute, the next minute she's terrified of me again! What's that all about?!

Re: Cat doesn't like my smell?

Thanks ☺️ I have noticed that she's worse when I've just taken my makeup off so I might try to find an unperfed makeup remover as the smell may be clinging to my skin?

I considered a spray of catnip, but that might just get me bitten!

Cat doesn't like my smell?

We adopted a shelter cat 8 days ago; we're getting there with her but she's very nervous. We're getting into a routine and she seems to enjoy playtime, eats and drinks and uses her litter tray fine. Her nighttime crying is getting better every night. My problem is that during play etc, if she sniffs...

Re: First time cat owner!

He's gorgeous! We got Molly a week ago. She's really nervous and was terrified of everything for the first few days, but now has found her favourite hang out spots, and has her favourite toy for afternoon/evening play times. She won't let us stroke her, but she is getting braver and we rely hope she...

Re: Are we doing right by new cat?

She was from a sanctuary who rely on donations, so she was fed the cheapest they could get or whatever was donated! She was also in with 2 bigger cats and is quite slim so I don't think she's used to having the quality or quantity she's had since she's been with us. She's currently racing around the...

Re: Are we doing right by new cat?

Thanks guys! We now have a new problem....(who needs children hey!) We're a week in and for the last 2 days she's had the runs. First time it happened she couldn't get downstairs in time and made a mess upstairs. We didn't tell her off, just cleaned up and kept her downstairs away from the carpet cl...

Are we doing right by new cat?

We adopted a nervous 1 year old cat from a sanctuary a week ago. She was originally from a small flat with 9 cats; we don't know any more but we assume she hasn't had a very comfortable first year. The day we got her she hid in her box for hours, then found another hiding spot. She was constantly vo...
