Re: what to feed? siamese with sensitive tummy
I would feed a kitten food described as grain-free, or at least wheat-free - one readily available online and in pet shops is James Wellbeloved, which contains rice and is tolerated by most cats - and the chicken and fish, with a bit of water added - to both kittens for now - as long as the dry is a...

when she starts to come into the room it is important to ignore her - don't even look at her - if you pretend she isn't there it makes it much easier for her to pretend you aren't there I don't think you'll have to wait anything like 6 months to have her fully at home with you - and she is certainly...

Re: advice on food please.
I have three cats, and none of them are very keen on wet food - one likes the Gourmet pate too, and I freeze half the tin if I think she won't eat all of it in a day (in the winter I would just keep the rest in the fridge) I give Trigger several pieces of Tesco cooked chicken breast every day, as he...

it sounds very much as if you have saved his life, and now you are his mum and his siblings rolled into one - so he looks to you for cuddles and play as well as his food and care
far from hating you, I think he will be absolutely devoted to you as he grows up

James Wellbeloved is a widely available quality biscuit, and most cats seem to like it Royal Canin is also stocked in most pet shops, and offers a wide range - there is an advantage in Royal Canin, in that it is one of the two major pet food companies which make a lot of prescription foods, and cats...

Re: Travelling with cats on a train - any tips?
I travelled from London to Poole with a cat some years ago - I gave her a prescribed tranquilliser (I don't think vets prescribe sedatives these days) which wore off half way - she was in the guards van, where I think you have to put animals and when she started howling - like only a Siamese can how...

Re: Need brainstorming on cat's health decline
I do wonder if the problems are diet related - it's a subject even the best vets know little about - trying him on a wheat-free dry food with lightly cooked chicken and white fish might make a difference - it certainly did with my boy almost overnight, after years of horrible and copious yellow poo ...

you don't say whether his weight loss could be due to his eating less - 9 is quite young for serious renal problems, though not impossible what are the main constituents of the food he is now eating? does he have a good appetite? could his loss of weight be due to malabsorption issues? is the vomit ...

the problem with one of my Cabrios is that the whole front section doesn't fit very well, and I have to bang it back into place from time to time - that doesn't necessarily mean it would actually come away completely, but it feels and looks as if it might - the second one fits together much better I...

give him a chance - and yourself too, for that matter, as if you don't you will beat yourself up about it for ages I have no experience of amputation, but I would have thought removing a whole limb is less traumatic than having a leg in splints for ages you may well have to take steps to stop him ge...

is he insured? I do think that if a cat is not cured by what is usually a last resort procedure, then a referral to a centre of excellence might be the only way forward, if finances are not an issue
don't be afraid to ask for a referral if it might help

when Tosker had awful earmites, and was sleeping in the house, but wouldn't let me anywhere near him, I applied Advocate to the back of his neck while he was asleep, without making any attempt to touch him or part the fur, and it didn't wake him
and the ear mites went

unneutered toms, which I am guessing the two males were, are much much more likely to wander off than a spayed female, which I assume Edwina is, so I really don't think you should let those experiences affect your decision as regards her outdoor access

you don't - she's a kitten and she's playing - it's what kittens do best
stand the bowl on some kitchen towel or similar, and put it somewhere where a bit of water won't do any harm
she'll probably move on to something else in time
