Re: So guys, I was diagnosed with eye pressure of 28 I'm terrified I'm going to go blind

Sorry It's not much to go on, but I have high pressure (I can't remember the numbers) in both eyes and have regular check ups at the eye hospital. (the high pressure was initially flagged when I was having a routine eye test in Tesco, a supermarket chain!) What I do remember is that they said the re...

Re: Vibes for Lucy please

Sarah's (camdengirl) cat Pip has been having weekly acupuncture and it seems to be doing some good. Can get expensive though as it needs to be done weekly for so long. Good luck with it.

Re: Vibes for Lucy please

Fingers crossed for her and hopefully a reduced dose will do the trick. Alice was on Metacam for years, without any problems. It made a huge difference - especially when she first started on it. She started climbing up on things again and her appetite improved.

Re: Tough decision on infected cat - probable FIP

A lot of reading, but Diane Addie is the authority on FIP http://www.catvirus.com/ I don't have much personal experience of FIP, so nothing much I can add, other than hoping for the best. I remember about 8 years ago when I was a volunteered with CP and a Siamese with a very high titre came in. Brig...

Thanks Alan. I might give it another try. I'm sure it used to be a treat food. I remember being concerned at the time that not everyone reads the small print. Edit - It says here that it is complementary, so I didn't imagine it! - maybe they changed it recently? http://www.scampers.co.uk/crunc...

I bought the Lily's kitchen crunchy nibbles once, but they didn't go down well here. Fromwhat I remember, also they aren't complete - the first dry food I have ever seen that isn't.

Just to add - Purina One is on offer in Tesco and Sainsbury's at the moment - £10 for a 3kg bag. Not sure when the deals end though.

Re: Box of Felix + full-size (60g) bag of treats - £2.50 in Iceland

Don't worry Ria - I just got back from Tesco. Felix is 2 for £5 there and they also have the free treats in the box :D - They only had them in the gravy box and the Poultry selection - so I assume they will go in all varieties over time, depending on how stock trickles through. Icing on the cake for...

Re: Frequent Sloppy Stools

Have you tried cutting out wheat in his diet. I know lots of cats have trouble digesting it. One of mine used to have bloody, diarrhea with mucous in. We had all kinds of tests done.We tried feeding her hypoallergenic food, but she didn't like it. I switched her to Purina One sensitive dry (no wheat...

Box of Felix + full-size (60g) bag of treats - £2.50 in Iceland

Not sure if they are going to be in all the boxes, but they were only in the gravy ones in my local Iceland. Not only that, there are vouchers inside the box for 70p off Felix and 30p off Goody Bags - so in theory, you can go back over & over and get a box of food + a box of treats for £1.80 (th...

Re: Older cat not well

I don't have any experience of a cat having diarrhea after steroids, but only last week, one of the member on here that doesn't post these days (that I am aware of) had the same issue with one of her cats. (she messaged me on Facebook) Her vet said it was likely it was caused by the steroids. I didn...

I would have thought so, although my vet did say that with some paw infections, even if they heal, they leave a hard, red lump.

Re: Toe tumour

I wasn't sure about posting this, but your post reminded me of what happened in June/July. I had a similar thing with Kylie. She had a bad toe which didn't respond to ABs. They had her in to have a good look under sedation, they said they thought the toe should come off, as even if it was an infecti...

Sarah, If you are buying the Surefeed, Petplan customers get 30% off all Sureflap prices I don't know if you are with them, but otherwise I can post a link. I'm not sure if it will work for everyone, or if you need to enter a policy number at checkout - worth a look though. Also, I don't know how 30...

Re: Going cold turkey on dry food?

I have heard of Hill's being linked to obesity - in fact my old vet switched from Hill's to RC after realising that most of their patients that were overweight, were fed Hill's. It makes sense to me. Kylie was fairly chunky when I adopted her in 2002, when she was two. After trying various food, we ...

Re: Going cold turkey on dry food?

I think it may have been Burns Sarah?

I am a bit confused with it anyway, as I read about brown rice being a no-no for cats and that is what they use. I also remember reading about IAMS not being good - not that I would buy it after reading about the terrible experiments they did on cats and dogs.

Hopefully you will be able to get some trial-size packs. Re: Our boy's dodgy tummy

Our Alice used to throw up and have bloody, mucousy diarrhea if she ate anything with wheat or dairy in. She would react to dairy within minutes. She was fine with Purina Ones sensitive though. I have said over the years, that it is the best food all-round. I have yet to find a cat that doesn't like...

Re: Insurance - direct payment to vets admin charge - anyone else had this?

They called it deferred payment plan admin fee. So if they file the claim anyway, all I had to do was pay at the time and have Petplan send me the money. I had another look and Ingrid's op was £210 - so they only claimed £125 from them. So I paid £16.60 for £125 over 2 weeks! - I will ask them an an...

Insurance - direct payment to vets admin charge - anyone else had this?

I took Kasper to the vets on Friday for his booster. I had worked out a rough total that they would ask for, which included the £85 excess on Ingrid's surgery a couple of weeks back. (+ a 3 packs of small cat Advocate and a 6 pack of large cat Advocate) When I paid, the receptionist told me it came ...

I have a feeling that your friend spoke to a customer service person who was winging it. I forget where it was, maybe youtube, where they called various customer service departments and so many of the staff weren't clued up on the company products.

Me too Helen - especially given that none are listed on the packaging. The Lidl premium in jelly pouches/Zooplus Catessy in jelly pouches don't have cereals listed and being German,I bet that means there aren't any, as they are very strict about ingredient lists for everything. Last week, a woman on...

Re: Interesting article about cats gut PH

Same here Helen. Very few of my cats have ever be real meat eaters, but I try to go for higher meat content. Quite frustrating that they tend to go for the mid-range stuff over 80% meat type food. I know we have to compromise at times, but I would never give them the basic dry food. It seems easier ...

Re: Raw diet for FIV cats? Yea or neh?

I posted this in general, but might be worth a read. Basically it says that a meat-based diet keeps cats stomach acid at the required PH - ie very acidic, which not only helps them digest food, but also kills salmonella and other bugs. Food high in carbs increases PH (makes acid more alkaline)which ...
