Re: What have they done to my draft?

I had the same problem yesterday, I found where it had saved it but couldn't figure out how to post it. I also get the captcha when using mobile data

Re: Meet Charlie and Will

Charlie decided to venture on the windowsill yesterday, so he had a nice stroke, and both boys have let me brush them, which hopefully means I can keep on top of their coats going forward. They are both better at being stroked in their respective hiding places though, that's what we need to work on....

I'm sure they will - at the cattery they sat on each other but here I've only seen them together once.

Meet Charlie and Will

Got two cats from a new charity this week, given up by their owner, who thought they were brother and sister, but were indeed two brothers - fortunately the 'girl' was called Willow, so we have shortened it to Will. Both very timid, so need a lot of work to get them homeable. They are fine with bein...

Re: Home needed for Harriet

Spoke to Harriet's new owners yesterday, she was like a ghost cat initially, she found a hiding place that they couldn't figure out, but the food was going down and the litter tray was filling up! She hides there more than she does here, but they have found her sleeping on the landing the last coupl...

Re: Vibes for Lucy please

Lucy went to see the orthopaedic vet this week, they feel that her luxating patellas are congenital, so not much point operating on them, but they do feel she would benefit from her hips being operated on. Fortunately it is the easier of the operations recovery wise, which was my concern. She now we...

Re: which cat food???

Unfortunately, most supermarket brands are extremely low on the nutrients cats need and very high on sugars, grains, cereals, etc, so we avoid them like the plague. Things like Whiskas, Gourmet, Sheba, Felix, etc are all the equivalent of us eating KFC or McDonalds for every meal. Did you know that...

Re: Is my cat pregnant?

I'd get her vet checked, and if she isn't, get her neutered asap, it should have been done when you first got her, there are health risks to being unneutered.

Re: New user - Cat with squamous cell carcinoma

Fingers crossed she is happier tomorrow, shame you don't have a supportive vet to run the bleeding by, as it is a worrying symptom You're right, Booktigger, but I could report the thing to a vet as soon as possible. It is surely an important symptom, something worrying has happened inside her mouth...

Good luck - a collar with bell sounds a good idea but please make sure it is a safety collar rather than elasticated. I've never homed to a blind person so no advice unfortunately

Re: Pet insurance

I once heard someone say that if every pet owner calculated the cost of insurance, and saved that money for emergencies, they would be in pocket. And she was a vet nurse. Admittedly I'm biased and may live to eat my words (though I hope not!) but I've had bad experiences with insurance in general. ...

Re: Pet insurance

My advice is always go for lifetime cover, and go for the maximum amount per year you can afford, preferably a minimum of £5k. Yearly cover isn't great, if they develop a condition for life, you are left paying it yourself.

I'm sorry she physically seems worse but mentally seems fine - the problem with waiting is she could end up suffering, and you wouldn't want that end for her.

You could try rubbing him with a towel to try and make him smell more familiar. I'm surprised he has been sent home with a collar though, I've never had a male come back with one

Re: Cat has colon cancer - advice needed

Weighing weekly is fine. Losing 500g in a week isn't good though - it may be that you aren't getting enough food into him, or it could be that due to the cancer being in his colon, he can't absorb enough nutrients - how are his poos? I had a cat with intestinal lymphoma who never went off her food b...

Re: Cat has colon cancer - advice needed

I don't think I could syringe feed for something like cancer, you are only prolonging the inevitable and do you know they aren't suffering. I would however do it for a crisis such as cat flu that they could recover from. I would think that if a cat is suffering I should understand that, they would ...

Re: Cat has colon cancer - advice needed

I've never had cats who would tolerate syringe feeding, trying to get one daily dose of medication in them is hard enough, but if I was lucky to have a tolerant cat, I don't think I could syringe feed for something like cancer, you are only prolonging the inevitable and do you know they aren't suffe...

Poor thing. I'd just spend time in there doing something quiet like reading and ignoring her initially. Putting a radio on might help. Unfortunately the best thing in situations like this is time.

Re: New user - Cat with squamous cell carcinoma

I had told you that Lola had half of her tongue removed on Monday. This was before the front half of it had gone necrotic. She's been left with the rear half of it and no doubt that it will share the same destiny in a rather short time. Her breath has a bad smell but it doesn't seem to bother her. ...
