Re: First time cat owner!
When Dora first came home I put a bed down for her on the landing where she could see me during the night. However..... She was having none of it and managed to climb onto my bed. For about 6 weeks we had the pawing at the face, waking me up at 2am for play, waking me up at 4am for breakfast so on a...

Hi Lyndy. Welcome!
I hope Snowy turns up soon & thank you so much for sending the pic of Felix across to your sister. I know Jackie will be eternally grateful & wouldn't it just be the strangest twist of fate if this thread bought the little fella back home! X

Re: First time cat owner!
Hi Louise. Is it Blarney? That's a really unusual name. He is a gorgeous fella. Dora decided to own me when she was just 12 weeks old in 2008. I too am a first time cat owner. I joined the site in 2011 and have gained invaluable insights into being owned by a cat. Dora is my world and I love her mor...

Re: Just moved house - my plan & any advice please
I tend to agree about letting them set the pace. When I moved with Dora I let her into just the lounge which she sniffed round and then asked to be let into the entrance hall so I let her through. It took her about 45 minutes to go round every room, then as everything furniture wise and human wise w...

Re: Axa Pet insurance - changing to NCI
I worked in insurance for a couple of years and its not a company I ever came across. It's proving more and more difficult to get pet insurance as clearly most insurers are pulling out of the market. I've just renewed Dora's policy which has increased by 98% from last years price but given that my c...

Re: Cat with sore paw not come home since last night
Is it worth plugging in a Feliway defuser if you have one and spraying the carrier with Feliway spray? Alternatively I know some people on here have success using normal human rescue remedy on their cats to calm them down. I think the idea is that you put a couple of drops on your fingers, then rub ...

Re: Young kitten nursing on arm
Hi. Dora's never suckled but she most definitely does a good amount of kneeding me and like Lara will curl up with me in bed normally with her whiskers under my chin. I give her gentle fusses and she makes contented little noises (she's never been one to purr - she has her own version!), then she st...

Hi. Just caught up with this thread.
Glad he's home safe and sound. If you are concerned could you just call the emergency vet for a quick bit of guidance?
Please keep us posted and give him a gentle fuss from me and a furry headbutt from Dora x

Becci it sounds like things are going well given the short space of time since you bought Whisky home. If they've eaten side by side that has to be very positive. I'm looking forward to the first pictures of them together. Fancy Comet having a little brother though!!! I think Sarah is right, there w...

Hi Carol. We have a duel timer 'cat mate' one. We've had it for about 4 years. Use it probably about once every 3 months. Still using the original battery. I don't like relying on a machine to play mummy but very occasionally it can't be helped and I now completely trust this 'madjic feedies ma shine'

Re: GOING ON HOLIDAY SOON - BARNEY ALONE CARED FOR BY IN LAW
I don't think that's stupid at all. I worry all the time about Dora. As you know she's an indoor girl. I have a fantastic odd job man/gardener that comes round once a week and does a list of jobs for me. He's a massive animal lover and if im here when he visits makes a fuss of Dora who being the Pri...

Thank you for all your positive and constructive comments. It's nice to know we can share our frustrations on here without fear of negativity or ridicule. Re: Sometimes its kinder to keep your thoughts to yourself!
I know my girl is totally beautiful inside and out unlike this insensitive woman. I'm incensed that anyone could feel the need to share such a nasty, hurtful and unnecessary comment. If she says anything about it tomorrow I will not hesitate to tell her clearly how I feel about it. If she doesn't sa...

Re: Early morning wake up calls!!
Ohhh Willowgill. Your story of Harry has really struck a cord with me. Its so similar to the bedtime routine with Dora. She has her treatsies at the bottom of the stairs and then I walk upstairs but she has to get to the top first, round the corner into our bedroom at 100mph and be waiting at her fo...

Sometimes its kinder to keep your thoughts to yourself!
I've just started working with several different teams and in a few different branches to what I was used to. One of the woman has recently handed her notice in. I was relatively sad to see this as she has 35 years experience with the company. HOWEVER...... Having just relocated my office to another...

Well I'm definitely a fully paid up member of the nutty feline club!! I GENUINELY believe Dora totally understands me. Bless him and bless you for caring enough and clearly considering him as part of your family.
I've spent £000's on Dora and wouldn't hesitate to sell my house and live in a cardboard box with her if need be!!
Best wishes to your boy. Please keep us posted.
