Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

My cats have friends like you. They quickly get to know who likes cats, who likes cats enough to have a bag of treats available, and who really, really likes cats and will provide a lap for an hour or two when required. I have kind neighbours who feed them and watch over them if I have to be away f...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

Could you put a paper collar on him asking his owner to contact you? It rather looks as if you care more about his welfare than she does, so who knows ..... he might yet become yours, officially or unofficially He is a wee scamp Lilith and it was a nice surprise to see him and again he went upstair...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

I got home this evening from work and opened the back door to put rubbish in the bin and who popped his head around the door and came into the house - Paul. I thought WTF - phoned the vet who informed me the owner does live local and she lets him out during the day when at work and keeps him in at n...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

Thanks again - yes I am glad that Paul is home with his owner and am sure she is overjoyed to have him back and yes it did hurt to leave him at the vet but realised he was not mine to hold onto - this morning I was looking in the back garden just in case he would show again. I have to admit I did en...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

Fingers crossed they can find the owner, this is the downside of chipping, when people move and forget to update records. If not, I would speak to Cats Protection, they would probably be glad of some interest in him with being black. Out of curiosity, where did you get Mia from? I got Mia from Cats...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

Thanks for the kind replies. I do hope he is reunited with his owners - he was in good condition when he arrived in my garden so dont think he was on the streets too long but he was very hungry. He was very affectionate with me straight away and it was nice to fuss over a cat again. There have been ...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

Oh Andy, I feel like crying too! You did the right thing, obviously, but to have to leave him there ... and that unwieldy bureaucratic process to be undergone. Paws crossed he's reunited with a loving owner soon ... and I rather do hope it's you! Good luck! Thanks Lilith - I contacted the vet to as...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

UPDATE: I took the cat to the vet who scanned and found that it had a chip. I was told it was a male cat (well done Lilith) and his name is Paul. His owners live in the north area of Belfast where I live in South which I suppose is about 5-7 miles as the crow flies. The vet had 3 phone numbers from ...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

That's one gorgeous cat! I think the reason why it looks so sleek is that it's obviously part Oriental - that short coat keeps tidy. My Molly's the same - she's not terribly groomable but never a hair out of place. (Mousey's Oriental-looking too but she sheds more with being an old lady; have to gr...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

I have to agree, you need to try and find out if it has an owner, but if providing shelter in your back garden, and keeping the positive interaction, the fuss and the food, at the back of your house and chasing it away when you see it going to the front will hopefully keep it from wandering too clo...

Re: Stray Cat - Advice Needed

feline company is clearly very important for you, Andy, so if there is any way you could create a cat proof area in your garden, it would allow you to have a cat without any of the anxiety - I know fencing my patio 17 years ago was the best investment I ever made, after losing a cat to the road Tha...

Thanks for the reply - that is what I was thinking and my neighbour also suggested I take it to the vet to see if it is chipped. Stray Cat - Advice Needed

I lost two cats recently - the last Mia to a RTA in August. Last Thursday I was in the back garden and noticed a black cat sitting on the fence watching me so I tried to make friends but it ran away (both of my cats were black). I noticed it in the garden on Friday & Saturday evening and I went ...

Re: Cat Weeing in Bath

My cat jet used to wee at the plug hole side of the bath - I assumed it must have been the smell of bleach or bath cleaner that attracted her to do it and of course it was easy to wash away.

Re: Finding it hard too move on

Sorry to read about Bertie but 10 months grieving seems a long time but death affects us all in different ways. I have lost 2 cats this year - Jet was put to sleep in April due to abdominal cancer, I had her 14 years. I got Mia in June but unfortunately she was knocked down outside the house 3 weeks...

Thanks Ruth I just cannot believe that this has happened again so soon after losing Jet in April. I have had a good cry and been angry with everything but am a lot calmer now. Thanks Vivian. I haven't slept or eaten and am walking around the house with no purpose. I blame myself for what happened. Sad News

I adopted Mia a few months ago after losing my cat Jet to cancer in April. Unfortunately Mia was struck by a car this evening outside the house and was dead by the time I got her to the vet. I was in the garden weeding and did not notice her going onto the road. I just happened to stand up and saw M...

Cats Ears

I adopted Mia 4 weeks ago from Cats Protection. I noticed she seemed to have a lot of dirt inside her ears and she would scratch at them and sometimes shake her head. I tried to get what I could with my finger nail on the most outer part of the ear but never delved too far. I took her to the vet thi...

Re: the ever popular food question....

I am the same with my cat. I adopted her from a shelter and she was an indoor cat with her previous owner - I feed her Purina One and Pro-Plan as per the advice of the shelter. I have tried her on all kinds of wet food and she has no interest in them. She will eat sliced chicken/turkey, I have tried...

Re: Cat Toys for Outside

Thanks - tbh I was afraid that Mia would eat the feather so I took it of her. She is having fun chasing insects and moths in the evenings but other times she just sits at the bottom of the garden and thought I may be able to get something to keep her amused in the grass - I have been letting it grow...

Cat Toys for Outside

I adopted Mia a few weeks now and she is more confident about being out in the garden. I wondered if there are any toys that would keep her amused whilst outside. She found a large feather yesterday and she had great fun wondering what it was and playing with it until she brought it into the house a...

Re: Eating leaves/grass?

Why is she only having biscuits, is there a reason for that? I adopted 2 cats who had tummy troubles but were fine with Purina sensitive, but I still used to give them some other foods, e.g. foods which we ate, such as fish, and the odd other pouch they could tolerate. I just think it must be reall...

I was going to post a similar topic as I have a cat 2 weeks now that I took home from an adoption centre - I think she was an indoor cat with the previous owner and had been as the shelter for 2 months - she is 2 years old. I introduced her to my garden and she has been eating grass every time she g...

Re: Cat Peeing at the Front door

My cat used to do this also - well she peed against the box which housed the electricity meter which was beside the front door. I had to put puppy pads up against the box and on the floor as it was random when she did it. She also used to pee against the leather sofa in the living room as well as th...
