Re: One cat/multi cat households

I think it is a valid point - while it would be nice if people had multiple cats because there are so many needing homes, the cats welfare has to come first, and if someone rings me with a cat over the age of 7 who has always been an only cat, I will ask them to really think about it, as I don't wan...

Fingers crossed for her. What are you feeding her? Kitten food is known for upset tums, especially when they haven't had long enough with mum

Re: How to comfort a bereaved foster kitten

Personally, I wouldn't get another kitten then, it is unusual to lose them at that age, runt or not, and there is clearly something as he is small too.

That's good news - I remember when Snowy had cholangeohepatitis it said the prognosis was good and that they can just have it as a one off. Hopefully that will be the case with him.

Re: Tapeworms meds ok for FIV young male? Drontal/prazaquant

Even as an indoor only cat he needs to be neutered to eliminate the risk of prostate and testicular cancers. It will also help him mentally, and stop his wee smelling - in fact I don't know how people cope with the smell. I'm surprised this wasn't explained when he was tested for FIV.

Re: Curcumin and Metacam

Kay, I would keep him on metacam. It is a Cox1 inhibitor so can slow the growth of certain cancers, so it could have been prescribed for that rather than pain/anti-inflam. It's years since I looked into it, but if you google cox1 inhibitors, i think there is another, it may not have the same side ef...

Fingers crossed for the results - re bloods, if you ask for Emla cream, they can normally get bloods without sedation. My new vet uses the leg rather than neck, and managed to get blood from mine without issues, whereas from the neck it was a fight with both of them, and required Emla cream. There a...

I would suspect kidney issues over hyper-t and can understand why your vet thinks it unlikely, a hyper-t cat is normally skinny but ravenous

Well the low bp would explain his lethargy, so tweaking his dose should help. Puzzling that nothing seems to be helping the blood though

Decided to start Buster on a course of Cartrophen, he hasn't gained any weight so has been given a Vit B12 jab. He has started things like being sick that mean he probably isn't coping with his liver issues. He's off his supplements for a week in case it is the stress as he hates his liver ones, and...

This is unusual, so you need to at least speak to a vet. You also need to have some financial back up if you are fostering, mum and kits are incredibly expensive, especially such a large litter

Have they done bloods in case there is something like kidney issues that are causing her to not toilet much? It is tricky getting people to accept, but at least Molly doesn't seem like she is in pain or uncomfortable, and as Jacks said, if not much is going in, there isn't much to come out, and oldi...
