Re: Maya & Tabby
Oh dear! Maya has been proper poorly Monday was probably the most stressful day with Maya so far. She seem unhappy and was off her food. About tea time we called her in and she turned her nose up at the food then went onto the garden and dumped a rather large pile of poo. she didn't even try and bur...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Strike the pose! Do we have a touch of a squint? 20170821_123243-1.jpg It now seems that our neighbour ha stopped feeding Maya - and other cats - as she has been visiting 3-4 times a day and, normally, eats the lot. We have now been able to work out what she likes and doesn't. Very small pieces of m...

Re: Felix grain free? Massive diarrhoea issues!
It is not in Purina's interest for your kitty to be sick after eating their food. If anyone knows what it could be they will and they may be able to suggest another product which has different ingredients. DON'T be afraid to ask them for some free samples of alternative products - indeed ASK for sam...

Re: Felix grain free? Massive diarrhoea issues!
Hi Leanne Hi Dave, Yes my vets don't know what's going on... they're just costing us a bomb which is why I have now turned my attention to the internet. I just wish I knew what she was allergic too... or what's causing the problem! Have you tried contacting Purina who make Felix to ask their advice?...

Re: Felix grain free? Massive diarrhoea issues!
Hi Leanne If her stools are normal after eating dry food then go ahead! just ensure that you have plenty of fresh filtered water - not straight tap water - as she will need more fluids. Obviously any changes must be given a chance to work. If she is showing no signs of distress and is playing as any...

Re: Felix grain free? Massive diarrhoea issues!
Hi Leanne I am no kitten expert only ever had adult cats Obvious question? have you tried other Kitten food? there are plenty of other brands on the market. I am also assuming that you don't give you kitten milk or any other foods aimed at humans and, of course, avoid giving her food that has been c...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Well that turned out to be a very good day. Maya turned up for breakfast and ate most of it - finished off at lunchtime plus some treats Came for tea at 16:30 and scoffed a full sachet Back again at 20:30 and ate at least half of another sachet At 22:00 Stealth appeared so a bowl of fresh food went ...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Hi Kay cats can be very stubborn about changing their routine - Tonka's Mr Snugs faces the exit from my enclosed patio, and also south, where a fair amount of rain comes from, so his sleeping mat can get soaked, but if I turn the kennel round to face away from the rain he won't use it Maya has had a...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Hi Vivian Hi Dave sorry to read that neighbour is encouraging Maya maybe you could have a little talk saying you realise Maya's been seeing them longer than you and asking to give you some slack as you're trying to give Maya & Stealth a forever home. Keep us posted. It has been a frustration for...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Round here it's all little backyards and the old outside loos and the cats use the sheds as a runway - or catwalk. Same round here although the back yard is actually quite big and we back on to an area of open land Apparently there used to be a feral tom known as 'Donkey-B*llocks' who'd literally '...

Urrgggh the bad lad! :o  Bit trigger happy with his little water pistol was he? A bit? It was dripping down the sidewalls! Well Maya came in for food - and was waiting at the door - this morning and ate about half of it then spent the rest of the morning roasting in the greenhouse. She came ...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Aww bless her, does sound like a furball - but as Kay says, that's what cats do in the wild - no handy zoomgrooms there. Will she eat those furball treats? Things have moved on since I last had cats as pets! Will get some anti-fur ball treats for her to see if that will help. I would love to brush ...

Re: Maya & Tabby
If she's moulting the grass eating was probably to help bring up a hairball All completely natural - for cats anyway That is what we had guessed As we have yet to really get to know her, identifying the signs are a steep learning curve. I knew there was something wrong as she was very quiet all day...

Re: Maya & Tabby
As a child of the 60s I remember Maya as an alien in the TV series Space 1999 - and we did not give her her name Actually she is poorly this evening and has been eating loads of grass with the inevitable result! She snook in the other day and we found loads of cat hairs on the bed so I assume she is...

Re: Maya & Tabby
Although Maya was happy to pose for photographs earlier today she is very off colour and uncooperative tonight. She has refused to come into the house for first time in about 3 weeks and has also refused food. Because she won't let us touch her there is little I can do other than keep an eye on her ...

Maya & Tabby
Who needs a fancy cat bed when Amazon seem to have an endless supply of boxes and brown packing paper 20170816_115937.jpg Maya is a 3 year old semi feral cat that appeared in our garden 5 short weeks ago hiding under a bush and looking somewhat distressed. She has in fact, been living in our next do...

Re: Pining for company
It's possible that the male had been previously interested in her before she was speyed, and now tries to see if she is in season, but then goes away when he realises she isn't. Our information is that she was Neutered at 4 months and we believe that Tabby is about the same. Interestingly, we have ...

Re: Pining for company
Hi Kay The advise I have been given by Cats Protection is to let things take their course, encourage yes, push no and under no circumstances close the door behind her if she comes in! If however they shows signs of being sick, then the best course of action is to get Cats Protection/RSPCA to come an...

Re: Pining for company
A Mr Snugs arrives tomorrow ;) From what I am reading this cat - and the Tabby who has also shown his face - are both probably classed as Feral now and the chances of getting them back to a domesticated cat are slim. As long as she remains healthy, safe and fed I will be happy with that. Unfortunate...

I think we are doing ok but she is still very timid and there is still a no touching rule in place I long to stroke her!

Re: Pining for company
Hi keep us posted on the two. Perhaps if you take a Tabby in Mia won't go to the neighbour's outhouse to sleep. Fingers xd it works out. And well done for your efforts to provide for these two. Vivian Thanks Vivian. I will keep you posted. In just over 5 weeks Mia has gone from a sad cat hiding und...

Re: Pining for company
I can only come to the conclusion that they are related and my suspicion is brother and sister.
I may have to try and adopt them both - although tabby will be off to the vets before I invite him in

Pining for company
Hi - sorry this is a bit of a long story 5 weeks ago, a gorgeous white tabby appeared under a bush in our garden looking rather sad. After a bit of coaxing, she came out for some food and water. This continued for a couple of days before we saw that she was disappearing into a neighbor's outhouse. O...
