Re: Midnight, Narla and kittens - Hyde, Manchester SK14

Please be careful to check the authenticity of people who offer to take your cats. It is important that they are really going to caring homes. Not wanting to sound miserable, but if someone says they are willing to take 'all your cats' I would be very concerned that they could be destined for resale...

Re: Need to Rehome my Cats

Becky, you need to post with your location in the title and I would suggest to get in touch with the rescues in the area where you could offer your cats for direct re-homing - so that they stay with you until a home is found and vetted by the rescue. Pictures of your two lovely cats would help as we...

It sounds to me like Lottie wants to be dominant cat and is taking food opportunities to let Shelby know that she's the boss. Once they've sorted this out Lottie should be happy to let Shelby eat - as long as she gets her dinner first! Have a look at the advice on hierarchies on the site here - some...

Hi Cills77, I think you might know what I am going to suggest, although it's not what you ideally want to do - but you're saying that your boy would really be suited to being an indoor solo cat... and having an alarm system in a house is not a problem - you can get an electrician to fit cat-friendly...

How lovely! Please do use this site to find rescues in your local area and discuss with them the type of profile cat that you need to match yours - rescues and fosterers generally have a really good idea about the sociability and characters of their residents, and it's important to find another kitt...

She is indeed gorgeous and you've done a great job integrating her! I'm sure as she gets more familiar with her new home she and Monster will start playing together - he is certainly young enough to want some chasey fun (which I imagine the 18 year olds are loathe to provide) and she is young enough...

Hi DollyB, I have had similar dilemmas myself and my current no 4 cat was a probably un-neutered Tom who was spraying and chasing my other cats - again too scared to be touched - until after 5 months I trapped him successfully with the help of an RSPCA trap. The RSPCA (my local branch, lovely lady) ...

Please read the guides on here and actively search for him - even after dark. if he's timid and not used to the outdoors he initially won't be far away but he'll be too scared to be exposed. I am trying to get close to a cat who has arrived in my garden who is obviously lost but has been outside for...

Suzynick I don't know the brand you've mentioned here so I'm guessing you're not in the UK? So glad you got him to the vet - poor Chompy. Hopefully he'll start to feel more himself soon and hopefully the toe can be saved. Don't feel to bad about keeping him in - you're doing it for his benefit and he'll soon be out and about again and will forget all about it!

Black and White 'Felix' cat, seems lost, Enfield EN1

A new cat has been attracted to my 'cat feeding station' - scared of humans, pretty social with other cats, very slim and hungry, living rough and now practically camped out in my garden. This is possibly a boy, the image of the 'Felix cat' - hence the name, with very distinctive facial marking. Oth...

Mmm, yes, I would check, and maybe your vet has an out-of-hours help line? It sounds like he's ripped the claw and it's become infected. If he goes off his food I would try to get him seen tonight, but certainly get an appointment first thing. x

Splendid news Mollers! There you are - just like my little mischief - how they worry us! Try to get some salt water bathe on the toe if you can and no outdoor access at all until he's seen the vet tomorrow.

Please keep us up to date with his progress. Give the lad a head rub from me!

When you say kick him outdoors, I'm thinking he has regular outdoor access, but generally still uses a litter tray - is this correct? Just like mine, in that case! Hi Mollers. Sorry to hear Chompy has gone missing but try not to panic. If he was eating and drinking happily in the evening he may well not be that hungry yet particularly as the weather is very warm. Keep an eye out for him and maybe go out into the garden and bang his food bowl, shake some treats...

Hi Abby Mum! I don't know Abby as a breed - do you mean Abyssinian? I might also mention that Lara is quite a sparky little thing and can do serious damage with her claws if she's scared or upset, or even if she looses patience - as OH and daughter can confirm - but I can even reach an arm in to where she's hiding if she's been corned by Mr Socks, and lift out a sna...

Yes, good luck with Teasel - I like the Teddy in her 'nest'! We have a 'nest' under our bed that Jessie made and will still run to if scared, and it's populated with stolen socks, a woolly hat and woollen toys. They do like little confined spaces for security, and if she's used her litter tray that'...

Very good advice from HunnyBunny - another 'toy' you can try is a stick with a string on the end - very simple - I use the wand from 'daBird' which has lost the 'toy' - even my wild-boy adult finds it irresistible just trailed or jiggled on the floor. The dog crate is an excellent idea. Good luck wi...

'Tumbling around' - even with the occasional squeak - is play, and youngsters need to do this to learn boundaries. You'll probably find that Whisky will initialise it. If they are hissing, growling or yowling before they 'engage' in the tumble it's not friendly and a sharp hand clap or puff of air w...

Personally I think the cattery owner is right and they would probably be okay in the same pen, particularly if it's bigger, nicer and with some welcome shade. You could ask the owner to promise that if they really don't get on she/he would move them, but from what I've heard cats generally understan...
