Re: Meet Jones

Haha yes he got his name for a reason... he's already a total nightmare :)
But he's so affectionate... and his purr! My two aren't sure what to make of all the noise he's been making yet but they're very curious :)

Re: Cough in a cat

Hey Emma, unfortunately the most common cause of the type of cough you've described is allergen related asthma. Cats don't cough regularly like that unless there's an underlying cause. I guess if you've had a cat with asthma before then you'll be familiar with the symptoms and treatments. My cat Har...

Meet Jones

As some of you know, back in August/September time I was looking to take on another cat to provide some company to my existing 6 year old cat Clive as he's super playful and loves other cats. Unfortunately my other cat Harvey just isn't that bothered about playing and would prefer Clive to just drop...

Re: Titer Testing

Hey Helen, I'm glad it's not just me who feels this way then! Clive is nearly 7 and up until now he's always had annual boosters. Harvey is 5 and I skipped his booster last year and now, with his asthma, it's not recommended he has vaccinations as routinely. I just want to do what's best for them so...

Re: Titer Testing

It sounds like your vet is a lot better than the one I saw.. I won't be seeing him again, I'll be asking for Rebecca directly from now on! I'm glad everything was all well with Gracie at her checkup too :) As for titer testing, I don't think many people have heard of it generally. It's more common a...

Re: cat feeding strategy

Yeah it totally depends on the cat really, there is no standard regime that everyone follows. I give mine wet in the morning and again in the evening but I leave dry down for them all day to snack on if they get peckish as they don't always eat all the wet food. It works fine for mine as neither of ...

Re: Titer Testing

OK so after further reading (including the WSAVA guidlines) I discovered that titer testing in cats isn't overly useful as they can only test for one type of antibody - it's much more useful in dogs. They're still researching better methods of titer testing in cats but at the moment it's only really...

Titer Testing

Hey guys, so it's that time again and Clive is due for his annual boosters. However, after some deliberation I decided I'd quite like to look into Titer testing as an alternative to him having the full all-lumped-together booster. He's always been done annually and the cost isn't an issue, but I do ...

Re: Katalax - surely the biggest rip-off going?

Here's a ripoff for you... my vet charged me £48.90 for 6 pipettes of Advocate for my boys. Due to the severity of their flea infestation and my urgency to get the treatment I just paid it, despite being horrified. I've looked and sure enough I can get it for about £20 plus the cost of the prescript...

Re: Acute Kidney Failure

I had to give Harvey Semintra for a while and he was fine with it. I squirted it into his mouth directly and although he wasn't overly pleased about being manhandled he took it willingly and didn't struggle or spit it out and he's usually a pretty wilful cat. He got so used to it he'd wait as soon a...

Hey Anne.. I'm guessing if you're giving antibiotics then you probably don't have the time to wait but you can get a product called "Pill Pockets" on amazon for kitties. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Greenies-Feline-Pockets-Chicken-1-6oz/dp/B001FSJCPK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416838567&sr...

I got a 12 week old kitten when my other cat Clive was 18 months old. He groomed the kitten and followed him around and generally took care of him. He was incredibly tolerant of all the abuse the kitten threw at him and seemed to actually enjoy all the riving :) If the kitten fell asleep somewhere, ...

He doesn't look like he has a great deal of fur (short haired?) and at this time of year he's unlikely to be shedding much so if your landlady is anything like me she won't be bothering much with brushing him at this time of year :) Mine are both short haired and they don't really have much of a pro...

Hehe they are pretty hard to resist when they start begging.. mine won't take no for an answer. Oh poor little Maisie :( That's really sad and bless her shaved patches! The vet will likely have left the bandage on her leg to reduce the bruising after blood tests - you should be safe to take this off now as it will just irritate her. You can call them to double check if you're concerned but oft...
