Re: licking eyes

When my girl Tat was young she used to wake me up in the mornings for breakfast by licking my eyelids. I think she was trying to open my eyes for me. This was mostly fine but occasionally she actually licked my eyeball which is a very strange feeling indeed.

Re: I have to ask... so many times you hear about

Pet carriers these days are of such a poor quality. I too have a resigned a plastic carrier to emergency use because I have very little faith in it. The clips holding the two halves together have no strength and the thinness of the plastic holding the door in place means it is easily snapped. I have...

Re: Dandruff

Sounds like the dandruff associated with moulting. One of mine has just started another moult and is full of dandruff around her hips. It usually clears up in a couple of weeks. I find it helps to comb her frequently, which also helps stop her getting and then coughing up furballs.

The vet said on the previous visit Monster is fat (and lazy).

She eats no more than 1 packet of meat a day so about 100 grams. And we have been very careful to make sure she isn't eating anyone else's.

Still a tubby kitten.

I posted a while back about our youngster Monster who is now almost 1 year old. I was concerned about her size and weight (and activity level). She has been on a diet with only wet food (felix) and is eating less than the rest of the tribe. But still looks fat and isn't losing weight. She is very do...

Re: New Addition

Gina is a rescue cat and she is just over 2 years old. She is pale ginger and white. We had been thinking about getting another cat as a playmate for our 1 year old, Monster. The criteria was a young cat who wasn't dominant and who was approximately the same size as Monster. Luckily Gina fit this bi...

Re: pls help me some advive would be great :) x

When my two 18 year olds were born, on the day of birth the mother was very friendly with me. She was kneading me and I could see her sides contracting. It was about 2- 3 hours after being woken by her that she started to give birth. It was such a long time ago now but I do remember being able to se...

Re: 2 cats and moving while rented harder than 1?

Years ago when 2 of mine were young I used to rent. I found the biggest problem to be finding places that accepted pets. Usually if they are not ruled out in the advert or your not asked when you enquire then it's not a problem how many (as long as you don't turn up with 20! ) I was lucky enough to ...

Monster and her new Cats Meow toy; Day 1. Monster runs and hides between daddies legs! Day 2. Monster sits and watches from 1 foot away. Day 3. Monster studies from 3 inches away. Monster waits for mouse to be directly in front of her then grabs it's tail in her mouth and chews on it while motor gri...

Re: Should we get a playmate for our kitten?

Thanks lilynmitz and kittywitty for the toy suggestion. I googled Cats Meow and watched some YouTube videos, it looks like just the thing for Monster so I have ordered one. Monster went to the vet today and had a thorough examination, scan, xray and blood test. Nothing unusual was found other than s...

Re: Advice needed - respiratory infection/laryngitis/vomitin

I'm sure that mine have had antibiotic injections that last a few days. And these have been offered as an alternative to daily pills. It depends whether a trip to the vet would be less stressful but you could ask if it is an option. I think you should persevere with the pills. It does take practice ...

Re: Should we get a playmate for our kitten?

Monster has an appointment later in the week with the vet. In the meantime we have cleared a bit of space so that she has more room to play. She has a cat tree but it is the wrong design for her. That might sound strange but she doesn't always get the best lift off to jump up and often ends up hangi...

Re: Hyperthyroidism in elderly girl.

Tat didn't improve on the Vidalta tablets (10mg). She had a few days with a lot of sickness and weight loss so we decided to go back to the vet sooner rather than later. She is now on the Methimazole transdermal gel which goes in the ear (5mg), applied once a day. It's only been a few days but her a...

Re: Should we get a playmate for our kitten?

Don't worry we had no intention of introducing a new kitty just yet. We would wait until after the house move when everyone had settled down, and then also wait to find out if Tat would be having another thyroid operation. When I first got the 2 oldies I decided on 2 rather than just one so that the...

Should we get a playmate for our kitten?

Our now 10 month old kitten, Monster, seems to have lost her playing enthusiasm already. She only has 3 legs (complete amputation of rear leg) and so is an indoor cat, she has been spayed. Her mobility is reduced in that she can't run very far and can't jump up very far. We also have 2 elderly siste...

Re: Is this normal behaviour? 1 year old cat sucks blanket

It is usually a sign that the cat has been removed from its mother and / or weaned too early. Saying that my cat Tat exhibited this behaviour for a number of years and she was weaned at the same time as her 5 siblings who did not suckle on their bedding. She eventually stopped doing it. As long as y...

Re: My old cat is dehydrated, what can I do?

My girl Tat suffers from acid indigestion and is often off her food but this is usually indicated by vomiting (bile from lack of food or food from upset tummy). She takes steroids which stimulate her appetite when she hasn't eaten properly for a few days. As for rehydration, my lot like cat specific...

Re: My cat has looks like she has dandruff

Pudding, one of my oldies, pretty much has dandruff all the time. It is especially bad when moulting. Otherwise she has a great coat and her skin is not irritated. She gets irritated at me trying to comb it out, I use a flea comb as it is fine enough to pick up most of the dandruff. (She doesn't hav...

My lot are used to me either going out or coming in at 5am. So when I am on days off they still want feeding at 5am. Is it only weeing that is the problem, where does your cat poo, is it still using the litter tray or does it go outside? Trying to work out the reason will go towards helping to sort it out. It could be your cat is trying to mark the new territory or it could be it is scared to use the tray because ...

First time around Tat's T4 results were considered to be within the normal band at the top end. She did have one swollen gland so the diagnosis fit. Our vet was reluctant to try felimazole tablets as the dose of vidalta was right. She mentioned the gel but had no experience of it. It sounds like it is definitely worth a try. We will ask for this when this lot of vidalta pills runs out. Tat has suffered from tummy problems since her first bout of...

Our 9 month old kitten, Monster, tips over the water bowl while it is still full. Does anyone know why she does this? I once started a spreadsheet to work this out. I gave it up as it was too time consuming and I felt guilty about putting a cost on them. Anyway my 3 little darlings have cost me over £500 this month in vet fees. The two oldies aren't insured but I look at it that over the years I've saved a fortune ...

Could be a temperature thing. I've had olive oil go cloudy when it's been really cold. And I'd like to think they have some quality control so it isn't a manufacturing issue. The look of the food is probably less of a concern with cat food so probably have wider tolerances than with human food so th...
