Re: Cat with diarrhoea - withhold food?

Hi Hannah Withholding food is not great as cats need to eat regularly. My feeling is that she should eat again today. If you have any chicken you can cook for her that is bland to settle her tummy. Otherwise, a little of what she usually has. When my boy has occasional diarrhoea he has Royal Canin G...

Hi Marie How are you doing with your appeal for a home for Thomas. Where do you live? My boy Edgar is around 9 years old, he is diabetic and has only four canines! He is injected twice a day with glargine and has been on a year's programme with the RVC and is doing well. He hasn't gone into remissio...

My Lou Lou is like that, she is happy to be friends with any cat. If only they were all like that. Fusses to Paddington. What an exciting time he is having!

Lilymitz gives wise advice and I know she has been in this situation which I have not yet had to face. Something did occur to me this morning though - MarkB's girl had been fading recently and she has benefitted from B12 shots. That may be something your vet could advise about?

Big hugs Helen. You are amazing. x

Re: Bad liver, very high liver enzymes/liver disease

Hi Anna That's a shame you didn't have a good experience with the animal communicator; I can understand you don't want to pursue that further. Is your vet a holisitic vet? If not, it may be worth making some enquiries and getting recommendations. This is a little radical, but if things don't improve...

Re: Bad liver, very high liver enzymes/liver disease

Anna, I'm sorry, I was dumb asking about Binky's mouth as of course the tooth issue was mentioned right at the beginning. I'd been focusing on the other symptoms since. I do apologise. But yes, that will seriously contribute to her struggling to eat. I would just like to back up Shelly's suggestion,...

Something just occured to me? What's the state of her mouth? Could there be a side issue with a poorly mouth making her reluctant to eat?

Dearest Anna I am so sorry that your darling girl is so poorly and that, naturally, this is causing you and your mum such pain and distress. What a precious girl she looks. As lilymitz suggests, have you been to see her at the vets? She would appreciate seeing you and you may not feel quite so isola...

My heart is aching for you and your OH, Helen. Bless him, how painful to be digging another grave so soon. The little boy will sleep peacefully in his blanket. The old boys are so gorgeous. My boy is still young, but he knew hard times before he came to us. Hopefully he will have many years knowing ...

Re: Bad liver, very high liver enzymes/liver disease

Hi Anna Any food is better than no food when the babies aren't well. Have you tried on some freshly cooked chicken or white fish, sardines (nice and smelly) or tuna, a little cooked minced beef or liver. Tempt her with whatever you can to stimulate her appetite. Thinking of you and your little girl xx

Re: My boy vomits daily

That makes sense - the change to the fish product could be the culprit. I have read a number of times that although most cats like fish it is not a natural food source for them - i.e in the wild they wouldn't catch fish. I've also tried Edgar on Smilia as well as and Ferringa. He is diabetic so I fo...

Re: My boy vomits daily

LOL Ria! Edgar was already eating reindeer Bozita before I started on the lovely stash you gave us. On Monday morning he did a VERY runny - virtually liquid - poo and my first guess was that several days on the trot of the Bozita chunks had been too much for his little (big!) tummy. So I for the las...

Re: one of my cats still using the litter tray !!

She likes her litter tray! She's a cat and cats do things we can never fathom out! There are different types of litter which are less likely to track, such as wood pellets, but if she is comfortable with that litter than it may be best not to rock that boat!

Re: one of my cats still using the litter tray !!

I completely agree with what everyone has said. Keep that litter tray available for your girl. She obviously feels secure doing her business there and to remove it would be like asking us to go to the loo somewhere we felt uncomfortable. Litter trays are not like nappies - cats don't automatically g...

Re: My boy vomits daily

Hello Which Bozita does your boy have? I am a great fan of Bozita but I have noticed recently that the reindeer chunks don't suit my boy's tummy, even though it's such fantastic food. Bozita do a sensitive diet version in smaller tetrapacks and this seems to suit him better. I wonder too if he needs...

If I ever have two boys who don't already have names they will be called Di Nozzo and McGee after the NCIS characters. Because I don't imagine we'd ever rescue kittens (I am a softie for seniors) then I probably won't get that pleasure, but who knows.... any cat in need is ultimately welcome.

Oh Mrs Kane, I am sorry because I can understand how sad this makes you feel. You want to be close with your little girl. Helen's advice is good. Just keep an eye on her in case you need to rethink taking her to the vet, but try not to burden her with your own anxiety. Run your mind back over anythi...
