Re: pets names

LOL! I got a kitten in 1976 who I called Vienna! :D Usually though my cats have human names, apart from my poor Mouse, who never moved on from that nickname. I had a 3/4 Siamese known as the Leopard, although her real name was Claudia (she was a right little devil and during a bout of kittenhood dia...

Re: Kitten or Adult food?

And then the cheeky little devil will tuck into your bacon buttie lol. My first Siamese came to me at 3 months with a detailed diet sheet (this was back in '84; there was definitely no kitten-food in those days.) Including cooked chicken ('but she doesn't like chicken much.') Unfortunately that's wh...

Re: Home inspection-not sure what to expect!

Aww, he's great! Gorgeous guy :) Ah, I have corns too - and they're cheeky, and comedians. I have a whopping great gopher snake who does her rattlesnake impression and then climbs into my top and sleeps for hours, and royal pythons...my first was Shahi (Urdu for 'royal' - naturally) and he does the ...

Ah so you've got some smoothies (as opposed to furries) too? Cool! I love snakes - got 15! 'Mane like he weed on the electric fence' LOL! Ah I know how you feel - I can write ok but if anyone visits the house I'm tonguetied...in your place I'd be doing my nut at the prospect of being checked u...

i've used an ordinary cat carrier as a trap a couple of times - put a bit of something smelly at the far end, like tuna or whatever she fancies.

Good luck with her! :)

Glad your vet got him diagnosed so quickly - but yes, daunting, but all very best wishes for some happy years yet! The lad sounds to have bounced back already, so glad he is eating and leading a normal life again. Long may it last! :)

Re: Home inspection-not sure what to expect!

Hmm....I've known a home where they were so houseproud that the husband joked about his wife not letting callers in if the washing up wasn't done. But the animals' water bowl could have done with a scrub and they put off taking the cat to the vet for treatment...wouldn't even give her a tray though ...

Hi Mcbeal - where are you? If you give the area or town where you live, there might be someone on here who can give additional advice re rescue shelters/ workers - or even offer a home. Good luck with your girls, sorry you have to part with them.

Re: Excessive drooling - is it an emergency?

All the best, Wes! Paws crossed! You too Suze :) The vet sounds very thorough. I've always preferred the vets who admit that they're not sure - but that they'll get cracking with the detective work, to the kind that shut you out of the full details of the case and act like experts even when they may...

I couldn't work out how to email my mp - but I'm afraid she's notoriously useless - enough said eh? Re: Why wont my cat eat

Hi Sally, very very sorry to hear about your lad - you must be worried sick. In the 1980s I was told about something called 'St Aubrey Jelly' which contained essential vitamins, calories etc for non-feeding cats. It looked a bit like golden syrup, came in a tube, and the beauty of it was that you co...

Well, it seems to be. I don't see how it can ever all get on to the skin myself, no matter how thorough you try to be - and I know if we've got fleas because the little blighters bite ME - I'm my own cats' early flea warning system :)

Re: Is there a good way to keep Milla off of this one shelf?

Lol she does sound like my horrible Moll! Moll's chief obsession is the clothes rack...I've caught her with a trouser leg in her teeth, yanking at it like a puppy and as for socks! Just now she's captured a big woolly sock, waving it about above her head and then throwing it away so that she can 'ki...

Re: Molly hates flea day!

Hi Mollysmummy and Jan, I don't often have to do this as my garden's secure, but there are times...like the summer of the adjoining tenants with neglected dogs...the fleas paid a visit through the fence... I've seen vets just splodge this stuff on to the back of the cat's head, so that's what I do, ...

Re: All seems perfectly fine but...

Hi Jhona, I wouldn't worry too much over one day without a motion appearing; like humans, cats can all be different in this respect, but for a cat with mild chronic constipation, I give milk every other day if they'll drink it, and also add a small amount of oil (olive if you have it but nothing wro...

Lol - if your Milla was a smooth ginger stripey I'd say she was the doppelganger of my Molly! Cats like this are a pain - but so lovable! I've just posted a screed about dealing with Molly on the health and behaviour section in answer to Atticuscat. Yes, all we can do with cats like this is - adapt ...

Hi there Atticuscat - yes, I second Lilynmitz - can't improve on that advice but as an owner of a similar cat to Atticus I can definitely sympathise! Molly came to me three years ago, a very mixed up kit. She'd been the cause of all the other cats in the previous owner's household moving out, she'd ...

Hi there, very sorry to hear about your friend but I'm glad that the cat has got such solid concern and support. Settling in does depend on the cats of course. I've lost count of how many 'strangers' (both permanent and temporary freeloaders wandering in for a feed of biscuits before I secured the g...

Re: Protrusion from under top eyelid

Hi there, what you can see is an inner bit of the eyelid known as the nictitating membrane, or haw. It's absolutely nothing sinister; it's often described as a 'third eyelid' and it can sometimes appear across the open eye when a cat's feeling off-colour, more usually in the inner corner of the eye....

Re: Aggressive behaviour

Yeah I agree with LilynMitz - though this kind of behaviour is a pain! Poor old Ted, he sounds just like my Ali Kat (now sadly gone) who had a similar background too; apparently there had been some sort of a home in the area and the 'owner' was alleged to be a dog-collector, so Ali, unneutered and n...
