Re: Urinating near food
I'd take her for a check up, and try and take a urine sample with you in case she has a UTI

Yep, and get them to check his teeth. After the age of 8, it's sensible to have blood done yearly, picks things up earlier

I'd take him to the vet and have a full blood panel done ASAP to rule out a medical reason for going off his food

Has he been in a situation to have contracted the virus recently, a fight or something? I'd wait for them to ring with the results personally, it used to take 10 days.

Re: Feline Leukimia diagnosis - what is best now?
I wouldn't do anything till the external bloods have come back, as the in house have a high false positive result. How old is he and have they done any other bloods?

Did they do an in house test or was it sent away? What symptoms does he have?

I think you need to get her used to being picked up, my new cat will try and bite, so I pick her up for a second then give her a treat, and she is much better now

Re: Milla had her kittens
I wouldn't worry about testing after a couple of loose poos, very common on kittens, but I would worm them - all kittens are born with them regardless of whether mum is indoor or not

I stumbled across this the other day, which is American I think so many brands are unfamiliar, but it might give you some pointers on the dry food? http://www.petobesityprevention.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Cat_Dry_Food.pdf When I had Daz on a diet, I think the biggest difference came from cutt...

There are a few options for senior pate, do you have a pets at home nearby?
I've just remembered that Zia, who preferred dry to wet before diagnosis, ate renal dry with a small amount of adult wet and her kidney values went back within normal limits

Re: Cat seems constipated
Thanks Meriad yes there is a lot of info! Ive been giving her some plain white fish at the moment, is this ok? Shes on Hills Renal biscuits and the wet food, but I just cant keep paying 10 quid for a box of pouches every week. It depends how much fish and how much cat food, as fish isn't balanced e...

Another microchip success story
We had a stray cat reported recently who turned out to be chipped. Unfortunately the telephone number on the record was disconnected but fortunately we had a home visit nearby on sat so the volunteer posted a note through the letterbox, the owner rang tonight, he's been missing since October, she's ...

They reduce the phosphorus content in food to help the kidneys. Think one is called Ipatikine, not sure about the otherladymissk wrote:Thanks, what are binders?

H Everyone! Just wanted to pick your brains on Beryls condition. She has been put on a special diet, shes on renal Biscuits and wet food, but its costing me a fortune. Does anyone know if there is any food that is suitable without buying it from the vets? Its £10 for a box of 10 pouches and I just ...

Re: Advice needed on escalating vets costs of an older cat
What are they testing for? Buster had both liver and kidney issues, we only tested him every 3 months and only because he showed no symptoms, or it would have been 6 months. One thing you can do for kidney issues is a urine sample

Re: can my cat eat dog food
Unfortunately dog food doesn't contain enough taurine, and taurine deficiency in cats can lead to things such as blindness, and if left long enough, can kill a cat. I don't know enough about dog brands to know if some have higher levels of taurine than others

I'd start off with putting the tray back, much easier to clean that than the floor. I'd also get her blood tested to rule out any health issues.

Re: fur licking
Personally, I think your vet is wrong, cats can get attached to each other, and stress is the biggest reason for overgrooming. The miaowing could be missing him, and looking for him - I lost one of my cats a few years ago, and another cat I had at the time would walk round crying at 6am every mornin...

Re: Recommended senior food?
No many places seem to sell Whiskas senior any more. I bought some recently but Kylie won't touch it. I could only find the fish version. The senior supermeat used to go down well. Shame they stopped making it. I've seen the pouches in most supermarkets and pets at home. Shame they stopped the seni...

Recommended senior food?
Lucy is on a diet, and is also 8, so thought I'd go for a senior wet food for her, but wanted something higher in meat, and it's years since I've been in a position to look for food like this, went to Zooplus but can't seem to find much senior. I'd rather pouches or trays, just because there is only...

Katia, not only is 8 weeks too young to leave their mum and have had necessary things such as vaccinations, it isn't kitten season so you aren't going to find many at this time of year.
