Re: 9 month old cat keeps attacking me! Please help!

Hi and welcome :) I've got one like this. She's 8 next month but I've just laid a hand on her tail and she's jumped round at me with claws out ... only momentarily though. She's learning. She still goes for my ankles in the bathroom though, and like your girl she used to hate me talking on the phone...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3

Siamese, or Oriental anything - there are so many new breeds. Self-coloured Siamese used to be known as 'Foreign' black, red, tabby, anything. AND they talk - 'Wau', 'Wow' 'Woo', and so on. And they go on and on and on and then they say some more! And then they say some more after that! My suspected...

Re: Chronic diarrhoea help

Umm, it IS interesting, how something like this, a memory, an idea, reasserts itself - I know what you mean. It can start a whole new train of thought and discovery sometimes, like dreams occurring at a crucial moment, or even books appearing at the right time. I'm a great believer in serendipity.

 Well let's just play them the song - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2svmUcsKeg

And now everyone will have that tune running through their head ... :D

I once read somewhere - why don't cats get bedsores?

How true!

Re: Chronic diarrhoea help

Great news! Poetry in motion eh? :D This comes a bit late but I think I may have stumbled on another possible diarrohea remedy - goat cheese. I won't go into details and this is a longterm human case (years!) but an improvement came about after a fad for goat cheese (Chavroux Buche in this case but ...

Re: Hills y/d dried food

Hi and welcome and yes, good idea. My vet collects donations for the Blue Cross so any foods, script or otherwise, my cats end up disliking, go to a good cause. If you don't get any takers on here, local vets/charities might be an alternative.

And sorry to hear of your loss x

ThorpeDave and Kay - I missed those photos - those gardens look great :D I recognise the coir mat - B&Q, yes? They've got quite a range starting at £7 if I'm not mistaken, which is pretty cheap compared to conventional pet products ... and my 'new' staircarpet, which is beginning to look a littl...

Re: Tilly being naughty again!

Lol, the calculating little baggage! I've generally had the opposite problem; I wouldn't dare let my Molly roam as I'm certain she'd attack any dog or child she met. Sulah, a fierce black cat who lived with me in the 70s, once chased an Alsatian out of the garden. Later I owned my own Alsatian, Hann...

Re: Should I adopt a cat?

Hi and welcome. Sorry to sound negative but personally I'd say, no, I don't think this idea would work unless you could employ a reliable pet sitter for the days you're away. Locally, in the UK where I live, one charges £8 for a daily visit. Food and water arrangements over 3-4 days could work if a ...

Oh the coir mat, the coir mat! Turned upside down I'm presuming, for claws to get a better purchase? My Molly loves to sharpen her claws on carpeting, matting, astroturf - I never thought of a heavy coir mat but I'm getting her one as soon as possible. And astroturf transforms a yard-type garden, ap...

Re: Orphaned newborn kitten

Welcome and good on you - I think you're doing all the right things. This poor little cat must have lost one of its nine lives in this ordeal, but obviously in safe hands now. It's hard work - I once had to handfeed three kittens (and attend to the other end; that's crucial, isn't it?) for 12 hours ...

Aww she is beautiful ... My vets send a card, but I'm a coward and never open it ... The forgetmenots are a great idea - if you sow them now they'll overwinter outside and you can pot them up to flower indoors next spring or just let them go mad ... they'll seed themselves everywhere in the garden t...

Re: Ear Scratching - bandage paw or use a collar??

Hi there. It's hard to say. I once had a cat who came home with a cut back foot; the vet stitched it and sent her home with a great stout tight bulbous bandage ... the minute I turned my back, she'd removed it. It didn't go to waste though; her brother thought it was a mouse and spent many happy hou...

Re: Ragdoll defecating on sofa/bed

Ugh. You have problems. There's obviously an underlying behavioural cause here, which I'll leave up to people more expert than me, but as a first-aid measure, I'd use puppy pads - at least they will contain the muck, hopefully. Or could you move this furniture into a room they can't get into? Of cou...

Re: Dried food.... Won't eat wet..

Hi, some cats just do. I had a feral tom who moved in, mainly through hunger I think, but would he eat wet? He would not. He lived on bog-standard brand dried (I'm afraid I wasn't that clued-up about decent brands at the time) and liked the odd snack of cooked chicken which I fed him by hand so as t...

Hi and welcome - and, first of all, please don't worry. What's happening is perfectly normal. Your senior girl is very cross and yes, it would have been better to have more space to provide a gradual introduction, but time will be the remedy. Also, hissing and growling aren't necessarily signs of ag...

Hi and welcome :) Yes, I agree with Kay and Mollycat; at present it's early days. This is good as they will keep each other out of bother, playing, figh...

Hi and welcome and I'm very sorry to hear about your boy. There are obviously underlying problems here, which you and your vet are obviously addressing and which I'm not qualified to comment on, but as for the not eating, I can recommend this stuff - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nurish-UM-Paste-Vitamin-...
