Re: FIV + and Gastroenteritis question

Funny thing that, mine are not struck on turkey flavoured cat food of any description. They do, however, like chicken. Sorry to hear the problem is back again, but don't give up. It is very important you keep his fluids up. Have you tried the Recovery food available from the vets? We call it 'baby f...

Re: Cannibas Oil and Cats with Cancer

I am no expert in the matter, but my OH uses cbd oil and finds it very useful for pain management (chronic back pain). There is a lot of advice on t'interweb about it's use in cats - in the main very positive. I saw a documentary recently about the increase in cancer in cats and dogs (same reasons a...

I am so, so sorry to hear your news. Believe me, I know just how you feel, we lost our Tommy the same way. I still remember the events of that evening with crystal clarity. In the early days it was on a loop in my head - over and over again, what if, what if.... The pain does ease with time but neve...

If he is getting worse, can you get him back to the vets? I can imagine you are very worried. Is he focusing on things OK? If you move a toy or treat in front of him, does he follow it?

That doesn't sound right. How old is your cat? Did you see your usual vet? He sounds a little offhand about a diagnosis.

Thanks for that Lilith. I did copy the link they sent me very carefully but thought it was odd to have a full stop where it was? :? Didn't realise the sound was that good! The boys are growing!

It is getting hard to tell the babies from the adults. Billy has a look of Willow about him (until you see he is lacking a belly  ) Freddie is more easy to spot, with that bush of a tail! It was a lovely afternoon here and all the kitties were out enjoying the sun. I thought it time to break ou...

Re: FIV + and Gastroenteritis question

Hi and welcome to CC. First of all thank you for adopting an FIV+ kitty. Sorry to hear he has been unwell. My boy Bob is FIV+ but in all his 5 years he has only had one bout of tummy problems. It must have been something he ate but I don't know what it was. He was 'off colour' for about 24 hours, an...

Re: Not cat related but need to talk.

Ooooh believe me, I get the pain!!   But I have found that if I catch it in time with the Migraleve it reduces it quite a lot. It is Paracetamol 500mg, Codeine 8mg and Buclizine 6.25mg. As you say it is an antihistamine but also an antiemetic. It's funny, I can't be doing with ...

Re: Not cat related but need to talk.

Hi Ruth, have you tried Migraleve (pink)? I discovered it some years ago. My GP says they are not migraines but zigg-zaggy lines, nausea and an aversion to light sound like it to me! The nice thing about them is something called Buclizine which settles your tum and gives the paracetamol and codeine ...

That's awful Ruth! Your poor mum. I'm lucky my mum is in good health (for 90!) But I know what you mean about talking to doctors on their behalf. :x :x I once had a row on the phone with one doc. I am so sorry to hear about Jet. I have nothing else to add to the good advice already given. But I know how hard it is and all about that dilemma. We went through the same thing with our lovely, smart Lurcher, Katie. It all happened far too quickly.

Thinking of you. Fusses to Jet.

Marg - CBD oil is available from Celtic Winds. The Holland and Barrett stuff is a weaker mix but still expensive. It's the THC that is the psychotropic stuff. OH gets some relief from CBD oil. Just a reminder, this talk is still running. So far I have learned some very unpleasant things about 'kibble' (dry food, as I know it) and some alarming things about vaccines. The question was asked ' when did you last have a DTP or MMR shot?' The interviewer said 1968. Right, so why is it necessary...

Go for it Vivian! But, be warned, when I was about 11 or 12 I asked Dad if I could paint my bedroom. That could just be down to personalities. Brothers, Bill and Fred are inseparable, but their character's are like chalk and cheese. Billy is an extrovert little 'divil'. Freddie is a gentle cuddle bunny. They are both happy in their own way.

Perhaps Matilda just likes watching Ruby. :D

Oooh, I know just how she feels! I am just getting over the mother of all head colds and everything is an effort. It might be the OP, more likely the infection or even the AB's - they can really clobber the system. It does take time to recover from these things. I think in time she will be fine and ...

Ruth - that's what they say 'it's safely locked up in your teeth'. But it never truly hardens and over the years it leaches out. Mercury has a nasty habit of lodging in tissues, bit by bit over time. Re: Trapped & Neutered FIV+ stray - now what to do... ?

I agree with Kay, once his testosterone levels drop and he realises he is on to a good thing, he will probably not want to wander very far. You are right though to make sure the abscess has healed before you do anything else. Did the vet give him a long term AB? Bob was given one for his sore toe an...
