Re: At my wits end - do I have my 7 year old put to sleep?

I am so sad too ... we reluctantly took on my mother's cat 10 months ago and are now so fond of him that it breaks my heart to think we will have to say goodbye to him one day (he is now 11).

Just remember you did all you could for Teddy - and that is all any cat can ask.

Re: BARNEYS GREAT ESCAPE AND ODD BEHAVIOUR HELP PLEASE !!

Oh - I do so sympathise with you Julie ... I was terrified to let our cat out into our garden when we brought him to his new home. Our garden is so very different from the one he'd been used to for 10 years (he was my mother's cat). As he was very much an outdoor cat I knew I'd have to bite the bull...

Re: 2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(

Sorry you've been having struggles with getting Ernie onto wet food, Lin. I know what you mean by not buying too much food ... I'd just spent nearly £60 on Felix only days before Blackie was diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. It now sits on the shelves in the garage until we get round to tak...

Re: Relocating my cat

We've been dealing with this problem for a year now. My mother had to go into a care home so we took her 10 year old cat up to live with us, 170 miles away. Blackie is also a highly strung and nervous individual. Fortunately we do have a car but in spite of liberally spraying his basket with Feliway...

Re: Moving house with cats - any advice/comments appreciated

When we adopted my mother's cat 10 year old cat after she had to go into a care home, I was worried sick about how Blackie would get on in a completely different home (Mum's house is very open plan, ours isn't) - not to mention our large garden, whereas Mum's is relatively small in comparison. We di...

Re: My cat has looks like she has dandruff

Our cat had dandruff on his black coat - but that turned out to be the least of his problems. However, to get his coat back into shape, the vet gave us some Coatex and told us to put one spray per day into his food for 4 weeks. It does say to use it under vet supervision. When we took Blackie to the...

Re: get water into your cat

I've given up trying to get our cat to drink ... even filtered water as Lin suggested. The only way to get liquid into him is mix a couple of teaspoons of water to his food which the vet said yesterday was absolutely fine due to him recovering from a bout of FIC. Love all the photos of cats here ......

Re: 2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(

Hello again Lin ...glad that Ernie seems to be doing well now. Actually you have helped to ease some of my worries about Blackie.. .in that sometimes one of his wees will seem a lot, and other times hardly anything at all. So perhaps it is due to the fact that his bladder is still a bit inflamed and...

Re: 2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(

Hello again Lin Pleased to say Mum is doing well now that she's looked after 24/7. She always asks about Blackie - tells me he comes to sleep on her bed at night and disappears in the morning. Then thanks me for looking after him for her. Brings tears to my eyes. If it wasn't for Mum, Blackie wouldn...

Re: 2nd urinary blockage in 2 months, help please :(

Hello everyone -I'm new here (a year ago, would never in a million years think I'd belong to a cat forum but since adopting my mother's 10 year old moggie because she had to go into a care home, he has me acting as scullery maid (clearing tin), kitchen maid (serving food) and commissionaire (opening...
