Re: Broken Jaw Operation
Moggy is lovely and looks fabulous for his age. A vet check is always reassuring, even if there's nothing wrong it will put your mind at rest and if there is something going on you can get on top of it. Lip licking can be a sign of a cat feeling nauseous, is he doing that? Good luck, let us know how...

Re: Broken Jaw Operation
I think I would at least call the vet and see what they think, I guess with a wired jaw life must be pretty uncomfortable. Did the vet suggest syringe feeding or mushing his food up, is he able to manage it in it's current form? I had had a general anaesthetic last year and it took me a week to get ...

Re: Sore That Won't Heal - Out Of Ideas
I haven't tried the nasal flush, what does that involve? I haven't heard of it and it hasn't been suggested. My vet did consult the Oxford Cat Clinic but they didn't have any suggestions apart from what we've already tried. He has a large area of raw tissue in his nasopharynx which is causing his pr...

Re: Sore That Won't Heal - Out Of Ideas
He's a beautiful boy with a lovely nature, if only his original owner had bothered to have him vaccinated his life would have been so different. This isn't the best picture of him either, he'd just woken up and had been dribbling!!

Re: Sore That Won't Heal - Out Of Ideas
Thanks for the thoughts but his nose really does run all the time, we're doing everything we can on that front but our options are limited and it's a question of trying to keep it under control, quite often when he sneezes (which he does a lot) it goes up onto his cheeks and nose so he's constantly ...

Re: Sore That Won't Heal - Out Of Ideas
I don't think so, I think it just sore from licking and rubbing. He's also a Calici cat flu carrier not Herpes. It doesn't have the same sort of crust that a cold sore has, it's definitely a scab.

Sore That Won't Heal - Out Of Ideas
This is Hector's sore nose. He has chronic Rhinitis caused by the damage cat flu left behind, his nose constantly runs so of course he licks it and it gets sore. Believe it or not this is actually an improvement from a couple of months ago when the scab covered his whole nose (the scab had just drop...

Re: litter problems- lets talk
Have you tried having soil in the litter tray as he was a farm cat it may feel more natural to him. If he takes to that you could then start mixing in litter.

Re: HELP! Kitten and Cat meeting for first time
Not all introductions go badly! You could try opening the door and see how he reacts to the kitten, kittens are normally quite easy to introduce so give it a go and gauge his reactions. With the dog I would be more cautious, kittens can be full of mischief so I wouldn't leave him unsupervised with t...

Re: Moving to a new house with a blind cat
I don't have experience with blind cats but I think I'd just do one room at a time and build up from there, so he doesn't feel too overwhelmed by a whole new house all at once.

Your boys are beautiful
I agree, you need to let him set the pace, he'll go out if and when he's ready, he's obviously just not quite there yet.

Re: Settling in - nervous rescue cat
I would let him set the pace, you're doing everything right. I would try and sit in his room and read aloud everyday, try leaving a radio on when you're not around (during the day). When you're sitting in there reading try tempting him with a treat but let him come to you to take it and also try eng...

But Terry would still have had to have bitten Denzel to transmit the virus which he didn't he only scratched him.

As Booktigger says it's transmitted through bites so minimal risk. There is lots of information on the FIV page if you wanted to reassure yourself.

Re: new FIV owner & Gingivitis
I have two young cats, neither were FIV+, but both had the condition FGS which resulted in both having the majority of their teeth removed, one was 2 and the other 3 years old so not old cats by any stretch. Both of their gums were were red raw and bloody, their teeth were just mush in places so ver...

Re: Building a home for ferals
A friend of mine runs a rabbit rescue and is always picking up stuff for the rescue on Freecycle and eBay, she quite often uses a childs wendy house which would probably do your feral gang too or rabbit hutches which you could cover in plastic tarpaulin (under £10 from Wicks) to keep it water/wind p...

Re: Recovered from respiratory infection in May now ill agai
It does sound like a UTI, perhaps the stress of the previous illness brought it on. If she eats wet food try mixing in about a tablespoon of warm water into the food to help keep her bladder flushed.

Re: Cat with unknow allergies
I have a cat with inflammatory bowel disease who also had terrible skin problems. I found the best food for him was Purina HA dry food (this is the most hydrolyzed food you can get) and Butchers Classic wet food (you can get this from the supermarket, it's cheap and contains no cereals), even on thi...

Re: Help our cat find her mojo again!!!!!
Please don't lock her out, in my opinion that's really bad advice, she's already scared so why put her in a situation she's obviously terrified of? You may need to accept that she will never go back out there again, she needs to be the one that decides when to do that, please don't force it. Have yo...

Re: New homes needed for 2 unhappy old ladies in Mirfield (W
What a sad situation for your old ladies, can you cat proof your garden so he can't get in (and they can't get out) but they can still enjoy their garden?
