Re: Cystitis
Hi Didi, I'm really sorry about Milo. This time of year must bring back really sad memories for you. I hope you're not worried that Bilbo will have to be put to sleep. UTIs are very common and treatable. This article might be helpful: http://catinfo.org/feline-urinary-tract-diseases/ Our 19 year old...

Re: CKD Stage 2
I'm sorry to hear that Murray is poorly. Did your vet tell you anything about his phosphorus levels? We have two 19 year old cats with CKD and hyperthyroidism. A few months ago they were both very poorly and not eating, and had to be hospitalised so that they could have fluids. The vet did blood tes...

Re: New nervous cat
Congratulations on your new kitty!
We put our new kitty in a bedroom by himself with everything he needed including a litter tray. I sat on the floor on the opposite site of the room, reading to him but not approaching him so he would get used to me being around.

The Burmese Cat Association lists Ricki, a 12 year old chocolate Burmese male:

I know this is older than your friend wanted, but thought I should mention him in case you hadn't seen him.

I was just reading about using colloidal silver to treat many different types of infections in pets and upper respiratory infection is one thing mentioned. Might be worth a try?

Re: Tips for feeding
Ah ok, I'd forgotten some of the background. Our cats have had lots of problems with dry food. Teddy had diarrhoea and weight loss, and as I mentioned the wet version of Royal Canin Gastro cat food really helped him. His stools were still a little too wet (although not diarrhoea) so we've started gi...

I'm sorry if I missed this in your posts, but what are Grany's symptoms which indicate tummy problems?
We've had 2 cats with tummy problems and I've never heard of giving an antiobitic for this. I thought that antibiotics can create problems by killing the good bacteria.

Re: Neighbours moved and left their cat
Please only publish the first part of any postcode at the most. Don't publish the google map location. This gives info to the people who collect cats for dog fights. It's really best to go through a rescue that will do a homecheck.

Re: Casper's bloodwork came back and I don't know what to think
Did your vet prescribe a kidney diet based only on a slightly high BUN value? We fed a raw diet for years and now feed a store-bought high protein wet cat food. Our cats have always had BUN/urea values slightly higher than the normal range. Our previous vet and our current one said this was probably...

Re: Royal Canin Diet Gastro intestinal food
I'm not sure what you mean by overdrinking. Leave a bowl of water out, change it daily and let him drink as much as he wants/needs. Cats will often choose to drink rainwater if it's available, but the bowl of water is there if they need it. I'm so glad he's OK! You went through so much thinking he w...

We feed the wet version of the Royal Canin Gastro Intestinal food: http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/canned_cat_food_pouches/royal_canin_vet_diet_wet_cat/veterinary_diet/516320 Despite being a huge cat, Teddy eats less than the recommended amount (his choice) and is no longer underweight. About dri...

Re: Royal Canin Diet Gastro intestinal food
Teddy's been on this food for over 6 months and it's very good. It's made his stools normal again, he's gained back the weight he lost, and his coat is super shiny and luxurious. We can't seem to feed him anything else without him getting very loose stools, so we'll probably keep him on this forever.

URGENT: Cat in danger in Cerrigydrudion LL21
Is there anyone near Cerrigydrudion who can help? I've just had a call from a man who has just bought a holiday home complex there. There's an unneutered tom at the site that's spraying his holiday cottages and "damaging his business", so he wants the cat taken away and/or killed! I'm not ...

I'm really sorry Emma, I've only just seen your question. Flo had fluid in her abdomen which they tested and flushed out. It sounds like your kitty's blood results are different from hers though, so maybe it's not the same thing.

Flo had a fever, very raised white blood cells, low total protein and low albumin. I don't remember about lymph nodes but her paperwork says the radiography showed evidence of pre sternal lymphadenopathy.
Best wishes for tomorrow.

Re: suspected Peritonitis aspiration tomorrow
Hi Emmab, I'm sorry your cat is unwell. Did your vet say what type of peritonitis he was thinking of? Our Flo had peritonitis which was treatable. On the ultrasound, it looked like a large mass, but it turned out her abdominal lining was inflamed. She went to the vet hospital in Potters Bar and they...
