Re: Elderly Cat Advice

17½ is not really old, nowadays so many little ones live until sometime in their 20's, the oldest cat Cats Protection homed was 32 and no I have not got the figures the wrong way round. :) I would say in view of this please don't make the decision just in view of the little one's age. If the little ...

Re: Blindness

I have had 2 cats that lost their sight suddenly. Tango had a stroke went blind then after a couple of days her sight gradually returned. i noticed Jeanie on one of the stairs and noticed it looked like a light was on behind each eye. Apparently her retinas had detached due to high blood pressure. S...

Re: Flea and worm treatment for those with indoor cats?

It is wise to spray the home once year with something like Staykill, and perhaps treat occasionally. Us humans can bring in the fleas, we could for instance sit in a taxi and perhaps someone else sometime before has a pet with fleas and then they can be carried on their clothes and be passed onto ou...

Perhaps you could try Bach's Rescue Remedy put a couple of drops in the drinking water each day. Also you can rub a couple of drops on each ear daily.

Re: How can I prevent my cat from going to the toilet inside

Welcome to CC. It is always advisable to provide a litter tray even if it is not used much. In fact it is one of Cats Protections conditions when adopting a cat, no matter how old the cat and irrespective of the fact that it may go out once it has been kept in a few weeks initially. If the cat has a...

Re: scared cat help

You could try putting a couple of drops of Bach's Rescue Remedy in the drinking water and changing it twice a day, you could also rub a drop behind each ear. Also try sprinkling valerian in the places the little one goes. Lastly time and patience are the order of the day. It is quite possible that a...

I love fox's and was one of the happiest people when hunting was banned; but yes they have been known to take a cat. I remember once answering our rescue phone and a man said Elaine a fox has just ran past my house with a cat in its mouth and this was about midday. Sadly many are hungry and as most ...

Re: 3 month old kitten keeps weeing on the bed

Please never get rid of the litter tray even if it is not often used, no matter how old the cat and irrespective of the fact that it may go out. If the little one has a problem it would go into the tray frequently so you would be warned, if you keep an eye on what your cat is passing you can spot ma...

Re: Mittens the kitten keeps weeing and pooing in the house

Good advice already given. If you adopt from Cats Protection one of the rules is a litter tray needs always to be provided irrespective of the fact it may not be used much, if you keep an eye on what your cat is passing, you can spot many problems, e.g. cystitis is very common in cats and needs urge...

Re: Extreme flea infestation - please help.

I am sure you will be able to sort out the problem soon after treating the cats again and the whole home, another household spray which only has to be used once a year is Staykill, much cheaper at online pharmacies such as VetUK than vets. I will say however, that re-homing cats does not necessarily...

I would suggest you take him to the vet as soon as possible for a neuter, flea and worm and at that time the vet will or should give him an MOT. If you need a trap a local rescue or your vet should end you one.

Re: Cat Frequently Urinating Small Amounts

Welcome to CC.

The litle one needs to see a vet as soon as possible, if left it can become very serious in females as well as males. Cats are very good at hiding pain and sometimes leaving it until tomorrow can be too late.

Please let us know how you get on.

We all have different opinions on this subject and entitled to them. When...
