Re: 2 cats - new litter tray problems

I would try experimenting with different kinds of litter - most cats have a preference for one kind over another, and if you are lucky these two cats won't go for the same kind

Re: Please help....I'm so worried

I'm sorry to hear Wilfred is unwell, and how worried you are, but really no one on here can advise you - you need to get him to a vet asap

was it soft food he ate? drooling can indicate mouth problems, a broken tooth, for instance - a vet will be able to check for you

Re: Hyperthyroidism in elderly girl.

I would suggest you try her on Felimazole, which many cats do better on that Vidalta - given her age she should start off on a low dose, and see how she goes a lot of vets in the UK are rather behind the times when it comes to HyperT - not only in continuing to prescribe the now mostly outdated Vida...

although I have no direct experience, being buried in rural Wales, I believe you can get free treatment in such circumstances from PDSA and Blue Cross veterinary practices, if you can find one in your area

Re: News of Mr Socks - for those who aren't 'Dashers'

this is the ideal time of year to get them all used to each other, as they won't have to spend days cooped up together in a restricted space (always supposing this summer is like the last one, and not like 2012!) Trigger will not stick around if Tosker is about, but just removes himself without a fu...

Re: Had to have my 20 year old cat pts

at 20 she was very much living on borrowed time, which shows how much you must have cared for her - I know it's not easy, but try to think good thoughts of those 20 years, and not dwell on her last few hours

Re: News of Mr Socks - for those who aren't 'Dashers'

that was my Tosker's first foray into the house - after weeks of hiding out in my neighbour's garage, he started to sleep in a Mr Snugs kennel in the garden, and then moved into the kitchen, where I had made a bed for him in a spare litter tray once sleeping indoors he never went back to his kennel,...

Re: Chasing Bees and Wasps

the most important thing, I think, is not to have anything inside the enclosed space which would attract bees and wasps - which means no food, no water, and no plants of any kind

if you leave a couple of dishes of sugared water near the outside that will attract them away from the enclosure

Re: Thryoid problem and teeth problem in our 21 year old cat

as already said, thyroid medication is not usually a problem - do insist though that if she is hyperthyroid, you start her on a minimum dose, as UK vets have a tendency to overprescribe - because HT can prop up ailing kidneys, a too sudden fall in the thyroid level can cause the kidneys to crash - a...

Re: Wet food and cats teeth

well, that's what the reps of companies like Hills, who make predominantly dry food, encourage the vets to tell us I do have some concern about wet food which contains sugars, especially the soft pate type ones which must coat the teeth and gums to some extent, and I have to admit that my Tiffany, w...

I find parts of a poo look different sometimes because of fur in it - and the milder weather has increased moulting - in my house anyway - so could this be the cause with Dora's deposits?

Re: Not eating much & Going Out for long periods of time

if she isn't losing weight, she might well have found a source of regular food from a neighbour - I had a cat who loved other cats, and who used to regular join a group of neighbourhood cats just for the company

have you tried shutting her indoors for a bit - say 48 hours, to see if she eats OK then?

Re: Water Flavouring Idea! Please help!

using the water from boiling white fish might be a safer option than tuna water as it is very bland - also you could try those little tins of shredded chicken for cats (such as Applaws or Encore) steeped in water, which again is very bland the liquid could be turned into ice cubes for future use, to...

well done for making sure she got the correct treatment in time - sometimes waiting and seeing is definitely not the right way forward

was Edgar prescribed Antirobe after his dental? it's fairly routine to give a course of it for a week to ten days after any procedure in the mouth, particularly an extraction if he didn't have any Antirobe, it is possible he has an infection which would affect his digestive tract - and it's also pos...

Re: Can anyone help me with my cats sickness

you don't mention any tests carried out by your vet - I would have thought blood and stool tests should have been done by now, as diagnoses on such symptoms alone are pretty much whistling in the dark unless she is improving, I am tempted to suggest the way forward is to find another vet with a more...

I cook the meat in the slow cooker, on low, for 8 hours - it comes out really tender that way I then chop it up into around 2" pieces for freezing, so I can recognise the different meats when I take it out for defrosting - then once defrosted I cut it up into really small pieces incidentally, I...
