Re: Cat Fosterer Needed
What a lovely boy! I can see why you're smitten. I wish I could help, but we have 2 male cats, one of whom is a bit of a challenge... Posting here and on petforums.co.uk is OK, but I'd be worried about posting on the other site you mentioned. I've heard that people pick up animals for dog fights on ...

There are so many homeless cats in the UK that some are being euthanised. Please have a look at the cats available in your area:

Re: Lily's Kitchen Cat Food
Natures Menu Country Hunter is quite hard to find. Our local Pets at Home used to stock it but now they only offer it online. It contains rosemary and smells quite strong of it which I'm surprised doesn't put the cats off, but they love it.

Re: Lily's Kitchen Cat Food
If you're referring to their wet cat food, we tried it. It has pork in it which I think is weird and it gave them huge smelly stools - the biggest and smelliest ever! When little cats have such enormous stools, I wonder how much of the food is being digested. We really like Natures Menu Country Hunt...

Re: Kitten needed in Bournemouth, Dorset
I'm really sorry you lost your boy. :( It's great that you're trying to rescue - sorry you're having a bad experience. 20 years ago when we wanted to rescue 2 kittens, we didn't get a warm reception either. Maybe because there are so many adult cats needing homes, they're tired of hearing from peopl...

Re: first time kitten owner - totally blind
Hi Meriad, quick-release clasps are designed for cats of a certain weight. Ours are for kittens/cats at least 6 month old when they typically weigh 2.75 kg or more. We haven't found a safe collar for younger/smaller kittens so we don't recommend or sell collars for kittens less than 6 months. I resp...

Re: first time kitten owner - totally blind
How exciting to be getting a new kitten/cat! A lot of cat collars are called safety collars when they're not safe. Elasticated collars are often called safety collars but they can strangle a cat. Look for the terms quick-release, breakaway or snap-open AND this is really important: - Make sure the c...

Re: Deceased black cat found in slough.
It's nice of you to care about finding the owners. As Janey suggested, contact the railway. They're supposed to scan dead animals for microchips, although there are reports of them not doing that so perhaps you could request it when you speak with them. Others may know this, but I didn't: Some railw...

Re: Neglected cat.
It's lovely that you care about this cat. If it were me, I wouldn't involve the organisation mentioned, based on past experience. If you're a bit tempted to adopt him, you could ask them if they'd mind - they probably won't - and then very slowly introduce him to your cat to see how it goes. If it d...

Re: Cat with pancreatitis - blood in diarrhea.
Blood in stools can also be caused by Metacam or cat foods that contain grains (wheat, corn/maize/prairie meal, etc). Could it possibly be either of those be causing it?
I saw after posting this that she's not on Metacam?

Re: Male stray needs urgent home, Morley, Leeds area
Hi Joanne. Welcome to Cat Chat! It looks like he's a grey and black tabby as opposed to a brown one? Two males can get along, but if Peter isn't neutered (you said you weren't sure) I think they will fight. Has he been checked for a microchip? Don't leave him behind at the vets though as he might be...

Have your neighbours all checked their garages and outbuildings? Our cat got stuck in a garage once. I could only hear her with my ear pressed right up against the garage door.
I hope you find Tigs very soon!

Re: scratching wound
We tried the Comfy Collar and Flo was still able to get at every part of her body. We bought a transparent green/blue cone collar with soft edges that you clip together without having to use a cat collar. We took it off for dinner and a quick groom but then popped it straight back on again until the...

Re: Sub Q
Sorry, I missed that Murray was on Pronefra. I think Ipakitine, Pronefra and Alu-Cap are all phosphate binders (made with different ingredients). Our cats didn't seem to like the taste of Pronefra - although with CKD it's hard to tell if they don't like the taste of something or have just stopped ea...

I too would avoid dry food.
Here's a good article on why wet food is better:

We also have a water fountain which both the girls use a lot.

We have two 19 year old cats (sisters), both with CKD and hyperthyroidism. For the CKD, they're on Semintra and Alu-Cap. I heard good things about Semintra from people in this forum and asked our vet for it. They weren't willing to prescribe it at first, because it was fairly new and they didn't hav...

Re: Painting with cat
Depending on the paint you use, you might need to be concerned about the fumes. We used a scrubbable water-based paint and the fumes were so bad that both OH and the decorator got nauseous.
