Re: Letting him go tommorrow

Thinking of you today. When we have given them all we can the day comes when we have nothing left to give but the greatest gift of all, to let them go in peace and free from pain and sickness, to let them sleep and keep them forever safe in our heart.

Re: A Loss I Can't Cope With

Sorry for your loss, and the traumatic circumstances. Just on the subject of another cat - when I lost my first, I knew she was extra special, and I think though we love all our pets there is sometimes that one that is just a part of our soul. Within weeks we were asked to take in another who had be...

Thank you. Cat tapeworms are Most Interesting reading, spread by fleas!

Owner contacted and I will be taking #NotMyCat to be treated. Owner offers to pay but seems unfair to accept as Cat chooses not to live there!

Tapeworm in #NotMyCat

The lovely Sooty who has been camping outside our flats for 18 months has some little rice grain bits on his bottom and I'm suspecting some kind of yucky wormy things, possibly tapeworm. He has an owner and a home where he never goes and I'll go speak to the owner later, I can take him to my vet and...

Re: HELP! Flea and Worm Drop treatment on my cat has made him runaway from me for over a week :(

Stop trying, and don't be so anxious. Get yourself back to your normal as soon as possible, because by worrying and I guess trying to bribe him out, you're giving him clear signals that something is wrong. Be normal, ignore the hiding, and show him by example that there is no big deal. Did the vet O...

Re: Introducing 2 cats advice please!!

To be honest it sounds like it's going pretty well and you're doing a great job. Remember there is an age difference between them and the older kitten sounds like he is delighted to have a new playmate, while the little one is still a bit like ohh a new place and new people and what happened to my m...

Yes, your vet visit is going to be important, and take a note with you as we can often get talking about one issue only to come out and remember on the way home something else we wanted to mention.

What sort of age is your cat and how long have you had her?

For all those who feed strays

Social media memories' gift today is one I need to share with you. Firstly to remind and thank all those who feed strays, who have all the patience in the world for the shy and traumatised, who foster and nurture and love unconditionally. 1391798_597902543606120_684128314_n.jpg My mother found it an...

Re: In from the cold?

It's a lovely idea, but I don't think shutting him in would be appreciated. Bear in mind the one night he spent in our flat he left us a very smelly wet shirt. He seems to love the freedom of coming and going and still has a home with a cat flap, so he does have the option of warm and dry. I keep ha...

Re: In from the cold?

Well he has taken to going with us on our evening dog walk, meaning that a 200 yard round trip to the park takes the best part of an hour. When he falls behind too far the dog races round to find him like a well trained sheepdog, and we all have to wait while he does his sniffathon. As long as we gi...

Ruth you remind me of when we had new carpets laid, the bedroom was easy but the lounge and hallway were a bit tougher. It was only a couple of hours but Molly who I imagined would be under the bed lay on top of it one side of me, Boo (who didn't flinch if you drilled into the wall right above his h...

Re: Blocked bladder- Stress in cat

Poor puss, there is something very wrong if he needs treatment after just a few weeks. Not sure I like the sound of your vet assuming it's crystals, if there is a blockage it can easily be diagnosed and crystals alone don't cause blockage. Also there are several different kinds of urinary crystals w...

Re: Cat spooked by workmen

I wouldn't forcibly keep him in if he feels safer outside but how long is this work going on for? If you do keep him in I would make it one room, preferably far from the noise and where they won't go, and then keep him in for a day or two after they have gone, otherwise he might think this is the ne...

Second that, an in-depth health check first before looking at behavioural changes.

A lot of things can and often do change as a cat gets older and we often see it suddenly even if change has been creeping up on them for a while.

What a very handsome chap he is and how quickly the half year has flown by. All sounds like it's going ... swimmingly!

Joking aside that really does sound so very positive for everyone concerned. It's not an easy adjustment for many cats so Freyja especially is doing so well.

How sweet fjm that is adorable. Watching Molly more closely and the way she responds to Sooty's smell on my hands, thinking of all I have asked her to accept and how beautifully she has adapted, I don't want to ask this of her if I don't have to. So I will focus on a shelter for Sooty and keep giving him cuddles and letting him ta...

If he's not bothered about the shelters you put out for him and someone else is feeding him and letting him in the house, perhaps working with this lady might be sensible before making a decision the cat may not agree with, and your cats may not be happy about?

It does sound like cat and your family would be better going your separate ways...

Hi, will your kittens be going outside? It's up to you to weigh up the risks, more so with worms but also fleas. For some regular treatments are important, but not necessarily as often as we're pushed to do. I have an indoor cat and a dog, the dog gets wormed 2-3 times a year, less now that he doesn...

I had not heard of this and looked it up. Don't get me wrong there is an important place for supplemen...

There are so many ifs and maybes though. Perhaps if there was no Lucy they might be different, if they had a choice all the time to be in the same room as people or not, and had less time behind a closed door. But as my old boss used to say, we can only start from where we are. Bottom line is if the...

Re: How many sofas have your cats ruined?

When I was a child we had Ellie, a naughty tortie. She had her own chair, because one day a 6ft tall and 4ft wide visitor sat in it and went straight through it, and after that it was only strong enough for Ellie's tiny weight. I don't recall any furniture shredding even when I was a child, though. ...

Re: New cat hissing and growling at me

That's exactly what Molly used to do, a kind of push-pull thing. It's fine, you have to remember hissing is not aggression, hissing is a fearful defensive response to a perceived threat. If it's not heeded or a cat feels the need to shout louder then yes they will lash out, but hissing mimics a snak...
