Re: Please meet Teddy

I met one of those years ago, a friend had me look after her daughter's cat whom I had never met for a weekend. Daughter dropped her off, before she had left said cat was out of her carrier giving my flat a quick once-over before coming to make friends with me. She slept on my head and greeted every...

Re: Please meet Teddy

Is it a Ragdoll thing I wonder, as Bobby used to do it too. I always put it down to his blue eyes, as they are more light sensitive than coloured eyes and Bobby used to squint through the narrowest slit pupils. He also struggled to see certain things, like the laser pointer on certain colours, had t...

Re: Old cat and new cat struggles

Hello and welcome. You commented on another topic that your cat is not "fully" neutered - you have an older male and young female - not neutering could be a source of "misunderstandings" between them? I'm a little confused, has the girl been with you just 3 days? The introduction...

He might be a bit outraged at the indignity of it all but unless he's worrying at his neck I wouldn't think he should be in any discomfort. It's supposed to be much less stressful from the neck but scary for owners, though I always ask them to take it in the consulting room because I won't let Molly...

Re: Please meet Teddy

You never know how the girls might develop with free run of the house all the time and no other cat to share with, even if they never meet. I have always envied the people who just find an animal. A friend years ago found a kitten out in the rain in the middle of the night, ironically at the end of ...

Is George usually straight back to normal after a vet visit? Has he had bloods done before? And did they take him out of the room to draw the blood, or did they take it from the paw in front of you?

How do you do, Gorgeous Teddy! Did they give you his story? Really that is rescue, because for most people looking for a kitten a 2 year old would be too old! But regardless of playing around with words, you now have a Raggie again and Teddy looks absolutely magnificent. And his coat looks not too l...

Re: Hungry cat

In hyperthyroidism you will hear it referred to as a "tumour" which immediately triggers the thought cancer, but only 2% of thyroid tumours in cats are cancerous and even those are very treatable too.

A simple blood test should reveal the cause for certain.

Re: Outdoor cat yearly boosters

A lot depends on where you live and what dangers and other cats are around. There is a growing debate about the need for annual boosters, though if you live in a rabies zone the answer could be there. The great thing about an annual vet visit is things can be spotted before they become problems. My ...

Re: separating bonded cats-rehome both or keep one?

Rolling can also be very aggressive though, context is key - but given all the other behaviours I'd say not in this case. It sounds likely she is feeling bullied and might well do better as an only cat, but would still be a tough one to rehome, and if the boy is closer to your kids and she is nervou...

Though nothing anyone can say can wipe out guilt, which is after all part of the process, I can tell you my old Boo went through a lot less than Tiggy before I called enough. It's too easy to get swept up in tests and try and see-ifs when we already know and a kind professional who should know bette...

Bless your loving heart for putting so much thought and effort into doing the best for them even at this stage when you know you can't keep them or her, many people would just think it's no longer their problem. I think the answers to your questions should reveal themselves, ironically, by getting t...

Re: Un-neutered Neighbours cats Attacking my cat.

I've been thinking too. Hopefully not but you might end up with anxiety or territory marking inside the house, or inside a secured garden, if the other cats are still aggressive outside. If yours are happy indoors for the time being, or venturing out supervised, perhaps that could work? Neutering th...

Re: Un-neutered Neighbours cats Attacking my cat.

Very frustrating, but as you say legally I don't think there is much you can do, if you are in the UK anyway. Defence is probably your best form of defence though, as you have done for the cat flap, can you secure the garden? If yours don't leave the garden much anyway it shouldn't be too great a lo...

I don't know - but for me this feels like the ideal opportunity to see what these RI centres are really like when your question is not the usual routine of new patients. I'm a little puzzled though, presumably you haven't had a firm referral if you haven't decided which yet, but Wetherby seem keen t...

Agreed if a cat is peeing several times an hour he would need serious medical help. My ckd cats have never peed more than a half dozen times a day at most. If so, please get him to the vet urgently.

Is he neutered? Is he peeing, or spraying?

Check - Molly is fine with fireworks too! It must be the noises and triggers that mean something in past experience, I suppose, and not general nervousness? But rustling bags were her nemesis, until she picked one of her own to sit on and play with. Does Lucy still get the odd flashback, even now? T...

I had exactly the same model as Papacat's and I found it had a brownish froth sometimes but mine never saw a drop of detergent of any kind. I found the brown froth was less when I left out the filter. In the end I decided it was much too difficult to clean thoroughly and have placed glasses of water...

Funny, Molly too is on her 3rd or 4th (and final) home with me, I wonder if having been rehomed so many times has something to do with being so very sensitive to any sign that something may be about to happen. When husband first moved in with us Molly was scared of his rustly orange hi-viz work trou...

I am sorry for your loss. Honestly? How do we cope with not knowing what our loved ones felt at the end of life? We have faith. So sorry for kitten. Try not to let the trolls dent your optimism or doubt yourself, even very experienced breeders with mother cat lose kittens. Even if in the end the remaining one doesn't make it, you are trying your very best and beyond that the kittens have to do the rest.

Joining you in your diversion - this is one reason I try not to be too reliable, and keep some flexibility.
