Re: Applaws dry food

Yes, Purizon is favoured here too. I bought some Applaws to try again last summer, but there was little/no interest in it. Kasper goes mad for the fish flavour Purizon and he has the chicken and fish one as treats. They are 'Dreamies' to him

Re: IAMS

Well I ordered 21kg of Purina One sensitive at the offer price. Assuming it isn't short-dated (unlikely) I think I will order some more at the beginning of the month if the deal is still on. In typical cat style though. There was some IAMS on the deck outside. Domino was fussing for food.I also put ...

Re: IAMS

Thanks for the link. I looked here http://www.zooplus.co.uk/esearch.htm#q=purina%20one%20sensitive Not the first time I have seen things on their website at 2 different prices. The Purizon I order for Kasper is at 2 different priceson there. Time to stock up I think! :) Their 30% off price is better...

Re: Yankee candles

I think I used Tisserand, but there are others. As you say, just be careful what you use 'essential oil' from Poundland isn't going to be pure

Re: Yankee candles

I used to own and run a small B&B. At the beginning when I was quite enthusiastic, I found a recipe for pillow spray and used to make it. I used Lavender oil, but you can use any essential oil (obviously check it is safe, as some aren't and also that it is pure) Just some oil (20 drops I think) ...

Thanks - will look into it. I know reed sticks are dangerous around cats and plug-ins aren't good, so maybe a good option

Re: Yankee candles

I do occasionally burn candles, but only buy natural wax ones. Not cheap, but you can often find them in TK Maxx for a decent price

I Would be interested in an ultrasonic diffuser. Which one do you have?

Re: IAMS

I checked the pack and it's actually 700g. I didn't check the receipt, so there is a chance they forgot to take old signage down and I paid full price! I just looked at Zooplus and Purina One is £9.99, or 6kg for £18.99 - I have never seen it on offer any cheaper. Maybe I missed it. Our regular food...

Re: IAMS

The ingredient list is here, the rice content is only 4.1% and it does contain wheat, although not the first ingredient, so who knows how much it contains. None of mine (that I know of) has issues with wheat, but obviously I don't want to feed any high cereal foods - probably OK as back up though - ...

IAMS

I stopped buying it years ago, after all the stuff that came to light about the terrible animal testing they did. They said they were changing their practices, but it didn't seem right to buy it. I found out recently that the company was bought by Mars/Waltham last year. I have decided that buying I...

Re: How much do you spend on cat food?

Are the PAH pouches the senior ones Desley? - on Tanya's CRD page, they list phosphorus content and PAH senior is the highest - even higher than most adult foods. I noticed today that they sell Kattovit renal dry food, which is quite reasonable compared to brands like Hill's and RC. From memory, a 1...

Re: Kidney disease and diet

I would definitely recommend trying some Ipakitine, as the only taste or odour might be a bit fishy, but I never noticed anything. I haven't actually tried it myself, but I had always tasted meds

Re: Kidney disease and diet

Our longest survivor was Clapton - 5 years from diagnosis. It really. I don't think there is any kind of guide. I only got to try it near the end with one of mine (Lazarus), but my vet swears by Semintra. He says it stops the disease in its tracks, but I have since read that it is only suitable for ...

Re: Kidney disease and diet

I have had 4 cats over the years with kidney disease.None of them were crazy about renal pouches. Senior food is a good compromise. I used to feed mine Felix senior, which is lower in phosphorus than the adult version. I also used to add a measure of ipakitine, which works as a phosphorus binder, to...

Re: STORM DORIS - stay safe!

No Helen, the so-called owners of the tortie sisters moved with one of them (despite the cats not going in their house for years) and the other, was rehomed by CP (I looked after her in the house over the winter) I am certain the tortie we see around now is owned. I normally only see her a few times...

Re: STORM DORIS - stay safe!

I can see the council car park from my back garden. Around 5pm last night, the wind was still howling and I noticed a fire engine over the back in the council car park where we keep our car. I went to have a look, I have to go round the block. One the way, I saw a large fallen branch in the garden o...

Very windy here on the Kent coast (I'm 200 metres from the coast) The cats have all tried their luck but decided better of it.I just saw a blackbird clinging on for dear life in the large bay tree outside. No idea how it managed to hold on as it isn't very sheltered. I retrieved some plastic sheetin...

Re: Senior cat food - is it worth while?

We have a Wetherspoons nearby. We often used to go there for breakfast or lunch (but have boycotted it since the Brexit beer mat thing) I always used to wrap up one of my fried eggs and maybe some bacon for Alice - she loved egg yolk more than anything :) - she would start yowling as I walked in the...

Re: So sad - my cousin died last week, leaving 2 cats behind

Sorry Helen,I forgot to update. My cousin's (adult) son stayed at her house while she was in hospital and has done since when he can - trying to juggle it with work - he is in the middle of a big project (he lives about 20 miles away and doesn't drive). Between him and Jan's, best friend's daughter,...

Re: Senior cat food - is it worth while?

It isn't there any more, but Tanya's CRD page used to list phosphorus content for various foods, (they still do, but Felix isn't on there now) Felix senior wet food had a lower phosphorus content. I think it is also Felix that say their senior food contains 25% more vitamins, to allow for reduced ap...
