Re: Urghhh booster jab vet visit

Beautiful pusses! Obviously well looked after. Except for one (out of 9), my cats are all indoors due to neighbour issues (in fact, the only reason I have 9 is because they are indoors and no-one's business except mine). I've been able to enclose a fairly large courtyard so they are all quite happy...

Thanks for the photo. :) She certainly looks bright, healthy and happy. You've obviously been very good for her, and I think that she's sat still enough for you to take a photo of her says a lot. Fusses from me.

Re: Help

If there aren't any kittens available in your area, you wouldn't have to go far to find some I'm sure. While you no doubt have your reasons for preferring to adopt a kitten, adopting an older cat who might otherwise never find a forever home can be very rewarding and perhaps worth considering. Chec...

Re: Chaotic Kitten

Is that Jellybean with his head poking out of the bag? Such a cute cat and a cute picture - I wish I managed to get my lot in such cute poses! Most of the time it seems like they know exactly when to move their heads, just as I take the picture, and most of the time my pictures are of the backs of ...

Re: Chaotic Kitten

I agree, he sounds like a fairly normal kitten. If in fact he was too young to leave his mum he'll need lots of gentle reassurance. Try distracting him with play - "Da Bird" or a laser pointer to chase will probably tire him out and then he won't be so inclined to want to "attack&quo...

Just a note to say I've been following this thread, and I just had to butt in to express my disappointment at the vets in relation to finances? Surely if someone offers to pay off an account in installments it indicates their commitment to their pet and therefore to any debts they accumulate? Surely...

I can't believe you actually got the RSCPA to accept the costs and then had vets still refusing to treat. They certainly wouldn't be getting my own business if I had any choice in the matter! :x Anyway, I'm glad all seems to have turned out for the best for the little girl. Thanks for taking care o...

Re: Need help with Metacam dose.

I think Metacam is a pain killer, not an antibiotic, though if she had this medication last time I wouldn't worry.
I looked up what my Tipsy had for back spasms a while ago and it was 0.5mL once per day. She weighs about 4.8kg.
If you are unsure, leave it until tomorrow.
Fusses to your puss.

I can't remember how old Shelly is, but if that is her in your avatar she looks far too young not to try to get to the bottom of what ails her and hopefully improve the situation. I will look forward to hearing of her progress.

Re: Well that didn't take long, I got me a new cat...

Mila is the sweetest little thing. She has such character in her face. Only last night I read an article in Cat's Protection Society's (Australia) magazine - they apparently led the charge here to introduce early de-sexing in cats - the operations are now done routinely at 6 - 8 weeks of age. It's ...

Welcome to CC Lyndy. It seems you don't need to be a cat owner - cats own you instead. :D I can't think of a better reference.

Very interesting that your sister lives in the same region as Jacks and wouldn't it be fate on a plate if her cat turns up in her garden! Fingers x'd.

Personally I would take him in, get him cleaned up and seen to by the vet and just hang on to him. If he chooses to go "home", so be it, but if you encourage him inside to live and see to his needs and he's happy to say, let him stay. I doubt your neighbours could prove that the cat belon...

Re: Indoor Cat to outdoor cat - dilemma!

If there is no way to make you garden less attractive to other cats - for example, are they attracted to a certain spot which they use as a toilet, which you could fix? - then perhaps you are right. Many cats survive for many years being indoor/outdoor, even in the middle of major cities and towns,...

Re: Advice needed urgently please my cat may be PTS!! :( :(

Ditto. If I were a cat in this situation I don't think I'd appreciate being put down without being given every chance first within my person's means. You may still have a hard decision down the road, but it will be much easier to live with than if you make that decision now, without trying. Please ...

Re: Why does my cat show this aggressive behaviour?

If you can't cat-proof your yard or a section of it, or a verandah perhaps, maybe you know someone who could knock up a large enclosure, or purchase one of the dozens you'll find on offer on eBay and online. You might even be able to install some sort of access from a window if you are inventive. I...

Re: Why does my cat show this aggressive behaviour?

I believe this behaviour is called redirected aggression. He can't get at the cat who is in what he considers his territory, so he takes it out on the first thing he sees when he turns around, which is usually you or your bf. I guess you just have to thank heavens that he doesn't express his aggres...

I agree. I had to keep my eldest girl cage-confined for 6 weeks AND during that time keep her as quiet as possible as I lived in a large block of flats where Siamese screeching would not have made me very popular! I spent a great deal of time lying on the floor stroking Lily, and even slept ...

Hello and welcome to CC. Re: Trying to be top cat

Do your older boys have places they can "escape" to? I think if you provide them with plenty of places up off the floor where they can't be cornered and are able to see all around that they will be happier. If they already have plenty of room I guess you need to wait to see if the diffuse...

Re: 13 week old kitten keeps digging water/milk out of bowl!

I read somewhere that cats who "dig" at their water are often displaying a behaviour from the wild - when they used to drink from brackish ponds and puddles etc - the "digging" being to get rid of yucky debris etc on the surface of the body of water. Some of my cats do this, oth...
