Re: Can food change a cat?
Oh they can be picky little horrors. It could well be that she's found (or you have) a food she likes and it has given her a full belly, and that is why she's feeling more placid? Not your fault I might add; they can't talk and tell us what they want. Even if they know what they want. Which they don...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3
Oh no, poor guy - and poor you. I've no direct experience of this, but I've heard of cats reacting to anaesthetic/sedatives and becoming manic. I hope it's leaving his system now. Your vet sounds very thorough. But what dreadful luck on top of that worrying operation - hope things are calmer now and...

I believe it's fairly common - I once heard of a cat who had lost one down his trouser leg ...
Let's hope the only harm is to your wallet, but he's young enough to bounce back, bless him. Fusses and love to him and to the rest of the gang.

Re: so...Milla kinda mated but her heat cycle is still going
I always thought so. Now Ali Kat, who was also entire and moved in a year later, who I neutered too, had a normal sized face, which never altered. He got a lot heavier and glossier though and lost his habit of beating up everything in the neighbourhood, including a frail elderly spayed female across...

Re: so...Milla kinda mated but her heat cycle is still going
When my tomcat Finn moved in I don't know how old he was, but he wasn't doing well; he was starving and although definitely a mature chap, he had a running abscess on his backside that suggested he was losing his fights. He had whacking great jowls like shoulderpads stuck either side of his face. I ...

Re: loss of fur
Ohh I hate that, seeing some cats trussed up so tightly in collars they must be choking :( How would a human like to wear a tight band round their throat 24/7? It takes a bit of fussing to get the balance right between too tight and too loose (which can be dangerous) but worth it. Better still, of c...

Re: loss of fur
Hi, sadly, it doesn't, or at least not in my experience. My feral rescues, when they roamed, all wore collars to show they were now owned (though I don't like collars.) When I secured the garden and removed the collars, Finn, the tomcat, who had a coat like thistledown, had a bald ring round his nec...

Re: 3 Week Old Kitten Help Please
Bless her. Sorry if you're doing this already but young hand-fed kittens need their bottoms gently swabbed (a bit of damp cottonwool is what I'd use) after every feed; if they were with the mother she would wash them at this time, and this stimulates the flow of urine/faeces to keep them regular. At...

Re: Normal or Coincident
My Molly knows words. Very soft handclapping and the words 'ininininin' or 'upupupupupupup' get her out of the garden or upstairs. I had to put her upstairs the other day when the grocery delivery came, and the poor driver looked at me as if I was bonkers ...

Re: 3 cats with injured infected legs! Help!
Hi, yes, I agree, vet, definitely.
Is there a bully cat in the neighbourhood who's chasing and attacking other cats? Those injuries sound as if all three have been running from an aggressor.
Good luck with them and please let us know how they go on.

Great stuff, attagirl Tilly! :D Some years back Mousey did an in-depth survey of different ones - https://www.catchat.org/felineforum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4976&p=36061&hilit=yumove#p36061 Nowadays she has green-lipped mussel powder two or three times a week; this is messier because it's ...

Re: cat became abruptly aggressive
Hi and welcome :) Many unspayed females can become aggressive due to frustration/hormones, so it could well be that the problem's already solved and your girl will start to calm down. It won't happen overnight but it's hopeful in that you've already noticed an improvement. Something else also occurr...

Good old Mia - I confess to being on her side; she is Senior Cat and Hendrix and Co are there by her gracious permission. Hi there and welcome. Are they spayed? I used to breed Siamese and my girls would spray like toms when they were in heat ... I also had a spayed girl and a spayed Siamese x cousin who would spray any old time they felt like it ... I used to buy my curtains from Oxfam. If they're not spayed I'd sugge...

Hi, and sorry to hear about the girl ... ohh yes, they always soldier on until the last minute. Little horrors. They're all different and I think some cats react differently to anaesthetic whatever age they are, like humans, but yes, it's typical of an older cat, especially one who leads a quiet cou...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3
If that coat pattern persists she will be quite a cat! I once knew a rescue worker who did just that; all her cats were rescued, many ex-feral, and, I don't know how it came about, she had contact with an agency and her cats modelled cat flaps and that sort of thing and even did a little television ...

Agreed ... and sympathies because I have one who won't have her claws trimmed ... I'm only just training her to have her head stroked ... (what's this ear then?) Cats! I can recommend Hibiscrub if you've not heard of it already - you can get it via Amazon, and I think Boots do it too. Apparently hos...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3
Well, the mackerel tabby is one of the dominant coat patterns, so not surprising. Although when I saw the first pic of Mabel and Jasper I think I said I thought they looked special, spotted? It's that flat, short, shiny coat that breaks the pattern up; my Molly sometimes looks the same. (I've always...

Yes, oh yes. I couldn't reply to this at first because you describe so perfectly what it's like. It's a rollercoaster. First the news that the illness is terminal, then the decisions about meds/palliative care and the like, while in total shock and preliminary grief ... meanwhile the cat goes on ser...

Well ... Normally I'd say that the majority of black cats begin with vague chocolate stripes and darken as they grow up to plain black. Although a couple of shots of Morgana do show far more distinct tabby markings than a usual black kitten. Then I came across this - http://www.summerspridebengals.c...

Re: Mia - Chapter 3
:o ! A marvellous offer - but one I think you're wise to turn down - I would have thought a one to one home would be needed for that Bengal, to bring her round and regain her trust; not the right cat to join an evolving multicat household where group dynamics are only just settling down ... I can im...
