Re: Painting with cat

Funny, I thought everyone sang to their cat  Not everyone sings to their cat? :o How do they know when to meow?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKxFvt7lhEI I'm trying to get used to Sofi being picked up for long periods of time right now so I put her in my arms and sing to her. EG. "Sofi...

Re: Cat - strange toilet behaviour

Why do you think I have an enclosed cat tray? I had way too many incidents where my Uncles girl thought the wall was the tray. In fact, I had a few instances myself when I didn't get the lid back on fast enough when we first got Sofi. She's calmed down now though. She just like to watch. "...

Re: Shredded paper

I just gave Sof a treat in thanks for her not EVER touching our bins. We have 3 around the house and NOT ONCE has she touched them. Also for never trying to get on the kitchen counter even though I know she could if she wanted to.

What a little rascal!

Re: Catching claws /retraction problem?

Sofi has this problem too being an indoors cat. We don't really worry about it as it doesn't really seem to affect her and we don't really have a lot of cardis in this household. (It's not the Spanish way) I just keep my wolly pullies out of harms reach and change into casual clothes when I get home...

Re: Painting with cat

Started painting the top mouldings. I agree the smell is awful but not as bad as wall paint. Sodi was my ladder companion. She sat on the bottom step and meowed when a spot of paint hit the floor. We had quite the little commentary going. "You're ruining the floor" "I know" "...

Re: Painting with cat

Generally speaking the upheaval of moving furniture, putting out drip cloths and the smell of the paint has always put them of going in to investigate. If you can make sure they have food, water, somewhere to sleep and a litter tray in a room as far as possible from the one you are decorating I don...

Painting with cat

Hey guys, This is probably a stupid question, but I badly need to paint certain walls and frames in the living room and bathroom. I've never had to do any painting in the house before with Sofi present. I've always given her to the next door neighbour or a friend for a day. But sadly the Neighbour i...

Sofi says Hoppy *yawn* mew year. It took her this long to reply as her new Christmas blanket has had her in a Holiday coma. No issues with fireworks this end. Sof is mostly just curious and stares out the window at the weird sparks. Then again she's used to loud unexpected noises from our upstairs n...

Re: Introducing Older Cat Back into Home w/ New Kitten

Hmm quite the conundrum considering all the different houses involved. I would say (although others might have better opinions) that both cats need to be in the same house for a period of time in order to get used to each other, your boyfriends house to be specific. Preferably Dublin needs to be in ...

Mrs Kane, I apologise for saying yo might be 'ever so slightly preaching to the converted' - I'd forgotten that the site does, in fact, attract a fair number of new or potential cat owners, who would definitely benefit from reading your excellent post. So, sorry, and a happy new year to you. No nee...

I'm glad people liked the post :D dare I say it, are you ever so slightly preaching to the converted, Mrs Kane? Yeah I guess. But there are always new people here looking for advice. And I remember my first post was whether I should get a cat because I live in a flat, so I thought it was worth...

To me, it's more than an operation, it's a show of trust, trust in him, his loyalty, conciseness, and potential. Re: eating more during cold snap?

I've found the best way to get our cat to change food is when we're on vacation. The foreign body that is our sitter coupled with strange food has her totally flummoxed and she'll just go with the flow. Managed to get her eating the new vet recommended food in 2 days! :D I'd say you really do need t...

So you want to give a Kitten for Christmas (Guide)

Christmas is the most popular time of year to buy our furry friends. It's a good present for families, couples and the elderly.* But are you making the right choice by getting one of these bundles of fluff for a fellow relation or friend? First things first. Although Youtube would say otherwise most...

So sorry for your loss. As for your husband he shouldn't take that weight on his shoulders. Sometimes bad things happen and we can't control them. It wasn't his fault. Please keep telling him that. Re: Any advice cats fouling on our beds

Hey Jess, It sounds to me that your cat is very stressed out. Cats are very hygiene creatures and normally these signs of pooping everywhere either signal that they feel they are the dominant person of the household or that they are extremely scared and don't know where to go. I believe she is using...

Re: Dilemma Time

Introductions of younger cats can always be traumatic. Females, I've found, tend to be more receptive but also calm down quicker and tend to either reject or mother the new cats (the younger, the better or more rejective). Males can get quite vicious if they don't like the new cat(s) and can take mo...

Sofi isn't even close to bringing on her winter cardy yet! Then again it's still hovering at between 17-22C here, pending all the rain we've been getting. I'm kind of looking forward to her ruff. When she sits in winter it makes her look like a disgruntled princess. "My ruff hath thou engulfed ...

Re: Is wanting a kitten too selfish?

I agree I'd never want to buy from a factory breeder. If I did get a kitten (and tbh I'm still not very keen because of above reasons) I would have to do a lot of research and probably have to travel out of the city. The more I think about this the more I talk myself out of it. Just today I saw a st...

Re: Stray cat advice needed - the story of simba the ginger tabby

If you really want to keep him I'd say first thing is to (as the others have said) get him looked at by a vet. But before you do that you need a carrier to take him. He obviously trusts you so I'd pop down to your local pet shop and get a carrier and start placing food in there and after a point may...
