Re: Unexpected changes in behaviour
In the last few days when she has been super affectionate she's been spending nearly all the time in my bedroom, only venturing out to eat in the hall. Today she disgraced herself and pee'd and poo'd on my bed !!!! I thought she had been also going out to the hall to use the litter box, clearly I wa...

Re: Unexpected changes in behaviour
Ah yes, interactions ! There's something else I missed out ! She has been 'guarding' the food bowls, so much so that I started feeding them in different rooms so he coulld eat, and sometimes sitting in one of the (3) covered litter boxes for extended periods. That's all stopped (for now). I guess th...

Unexpected changes in behaviour
I have two cats, one was born feral and was always reluctant to be fussed and picked up for cuddles. He went missing for a few days about 3 months ago and ever since he has been a real cuddle bug and often comes looking for fuss and attention now and asks for food. Perhaps he found out when he was m...

I see a posible language problem !!
I believe in American English, gross means something yucky or revolting. In Briish English, gross means 144 items( ie 12x12 ) as in a carton or box full of things.

Re: No one comes to my area to rescue
I admire your altruism, but to set up a cat rescue operation when there is one that covers your area ( https://www.cats.org.uk/hendon ) might be very difficult and would 'dilute the pool' of experienced volunteers. I realise that CP are working in difficult and restricted times and their services an...

Re: SUDDEN UNEXPECTED DEATH OF ELDERLY CAT
On a vaguely similar subject. My partner ( Mama Cat) died over 9 years ago and some of the things she bought me are now worn out and falling to pieces, but I can't bear to part with them. I 'inherited' her cat, too but it died after a couple of years, also of a sudden illness. I still have things it...

Re: Cat started hissing at her sister
It was suggested to me that I should take both my cats to the vet together, even if the second cat doesn't need any treatment) (obviously you will need two cat carriers). That way they come back smelling the same.

This is what I bought https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0058OE9W8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 As mentioned before she hates being put in the bath and fights like a demon to get out and scratches me to pieces so, If I have to wash her all over, I half fill the bath first w...

Re: New kitten
Personally I have no objection to cat's sleeping on the bed, it's an indicator that they want or need to be near you. Cats are clean animals and it's unlikely to make your bed dirty other than a little bit of fur Try and imagine yourself as your new kitten. It has been taken from it's mother and lit...

Very expensive, but very good if you want to monitor or medicate what your cat is eating or prevent one cat in a household eating up all the leftover food

Re: Cat licking herself red raw
Today she's been a lot better.
Washng her tummy and back legs seems to have eased the problem.
I suspect their are moisturisers in the shampoo or perhaps a kind of fur conditioner. She has let me stroke her tummy gently a few times which she enjoyed and the fur is dry so she has stopped licking it.

Cat licking herself red raw
My girl Lizzie is licking her tummy and inside of her back legs red raw. She had a flea infestation which I treated 2 weeks ago with frontline, so I can't do that again yet, but in the last week she's been overgrooming and making it red raw, I have just used cat flea shampoo on the areas and rinsed ...

Re: My cat is missing (Elham SE Kent) FOUND !!
Throughout his entire 8 year life he has been an indoor cat however I don't mind if he wants to be an outdoor cat as well but I worry he'll get lost again. Can anyone give me any tips ? (I don't have a cat flap and am not allowed to fit one in this flat) One thing that's against it though is he's no...

Re: My cat is missing (Elham SE Kent) FOUND !!
I'm pleased to say I found him. I went outside to bring in the things I left out for him as I was beginning to give up hope and I saw a dark coloured cat run across the car park. I checked the food bowl I had left out and saw some had been eaten so I was sure it was him. After crawling under about h...

My cat is missing (Elham SE Kent) FOUND !!
One of my cats has gone missing ! I think he fell out of my (ground floor) bedroom window during the night ! He wouldn't have gone out voluntarily, he's terrified of going outdoors, possibly because he can't see very well. (Most cats are long sighted, ie can't see well up-close, but he can't seem to...

Re: malnourished kitten
A proper flea treatment is the best solution but in the absence of that wash or bathe her in diluted washing up liquid In the same concentration as you would use for washing dishes. Rinse her off afterwards in clean water if possible. It will kill the fleas but it won’t stop them coming back, wherea...

Re: Help! Newly adopted cat is aggressive
I am certainly no expert in this but if he is head bunting you and rubbing up against you it indicates he wants to be friendly with you but right now it's DON''T TOUCH ME I'M NOT READY FOR THAT!!! so just keep on feeding him and just touch him from time to time ,maybe just a stroke or a gentle flick...

To whom it may concern
I recently read a post from a new member in a topic about dog whistles and their effect on cats. The poster made comments that I thought outrageous and misinformed and it so incensed me that I posted a reply immediately that used some fairly 'earthy' language although the worst word was starred (***...

In human terms she's a teenager (and we all know how humans behave during those years) They get more independent, some times even antisocial, and less reliant on those who look afer them.

Re: Worlds Best Cat Litter
I have 5 litter trays altogether but only 2 or 3 are normally in use. (That means I don't have to empty, wash and dry a tray in a hurry when they need washing) The sieve tray I have is a Trixie Berto and very similar to yours but fully covered. https://www.petsexpert.co.uk/products/49067-trixie-bert...

I have just had to change Worlds Best litter in 2 litter trays after 13 days it had got so smelly the cat's stopped using it and were starting to use the floor !!! Perhaps I was cleaning it wrongly ? I normally use a sieve to remove any waste which tended to shake off some loose, (but still wet,) li...

I wouldn't put down more litter trays, just the usual ones. You could end up with a lot of boxes half used and have to change them all and that would use it up quicker than usual.

Re: Worlds Best Cat Litter
He has been seen by the vet has worm and flea treatment regularly, has been on special diets and medications but no remedy has been found. Re: Worlds Best Cat Litter
As mentioned (sometime ago) on another thread one of my cats has constant diarrhoea and incontinence. I was hoping a a clumping litter would be better at absorbing that. Thankfully he has fewer accidents than he used to, he seems to have learnt that when he gets 'that feeling' he must go straight aw...

Does anyone use Worlds Best Cat Litter ? It's very expensive (twice the price of Catsan) but they predict a usage of 60+ days for 2 cats from a 28 pound bag. Do you think they mean using 1 litter tray or what ? I have just filled up 2 litter trays to less than the depth than they suggest and i have ...

Have I got the kiss of death ?
I'm almost considering stopping posting to new members on this board. Just recently I have made some posts to new members about their cat's problems and given what I hoped were useful suggestions, and that's the last time they have ever been seen !! It seems I've frightened them off. Have I got the ...
