Re: Extreme flea infestation - please help.
You need to go to your vets and get the cats advocate or stronghold, and whilst there get their household treatment spray ( indorex or rip flea), then treat cats (you will also need to worm them as fleas cause tapeworm) and all of you need to leave the house for a few hours spraying every nook and c...

Re: Basil not eating
That's the worst bit, nothing happens now..... There is no treatment and no cure, all they can do is drip and painkillers when she gets a flare up, but that's what's unknown at the moment, could be weekly or once every few years, no one knows! She has to have low cal bland food but she was already o...

Re: Basil not eating

Re: Basil not eating
Thanks for asking crewella, Meg is a conundrum! We have to wait 2 weeks for bloods to come back from the states for confirmation, she is now home on morphine 3 times a day and is eating and pottering about for fuss, but isn't right still and doesn't seem to be fully mobile on her back end, sort of '...

Re: Basil not eating
Thank you, they have sent bloods off to lab for confirmation with the 'real' pancreatitis test but he seems quite sure it's what she has and said it was a 'guarded prognosis' as not all recover :( It's really shocked me as it was so far from what I was expecting, she is in on a drip and vetergesic f...

Re: Basil not eating
I lost my miffy aged 17 last year and she had 3 pancreatitis flare ups in her last 5 years of life, just like basil just went off food and became weak and ended up on a drip each time, each flare up took about a week for her to start to improve and eat, she was so weak and thin normally bless her an...

Re: Pregnancy suspicions and change in behaviour
Have you checked her nipples? If she is pregnant they get swollen and pink teats before the weight gain. A cat that isn't pregnant will have nipples the size of pin heads, if they have had litters in the past they will be a bit bigger than this tho, but if preg will be prominent and pink with a noti...

Re: Kittens home alone
As a rescue we never home single kittens where they will be home alone all day, the average person does and 8 hour working day with travelling time before and after added to that, that is a really long time for a kitten that is missing it's mum and litter mates to be alone. If you really only wanted...

Re: New kitten after FIP in home
The fip itself is not contagious and it's highly likely your cat contracted the coronavirus long before symptoms of fip appeared, and the corona virus is spread in their feaces so not likely to be around the home. I would highly recommend to be on the safe side you purchase some virkon from e bay or...

Re: Hand rear kitten with diarhoea
Thank you hunnybunny, I did wonder about diluting the formula down a bit, my vet is great and will try anything we discuss but like you say it's so hard and always a bit of a 'what if' guessing game. Far too early to say but he slept 3 hours following the meds, then just took 10 mil (a lot for him) ...
