Fingers crossed for her.

Whatever happens, try not to blame yourself, you did all you could, and without you none of them would have stood a chance.

Re: Older owners and Cat care

That is a very good point Mollycat, and one only the OP's Mum can answer. We all grieve differently, I'm the type that wants to fill the hole left when a cat goes quickly, but I know not everyone is the same and rather than saying 'I'm not ready yet' they come up with excuses We can offer all the pr...

Re: Older owners and Cat care

I just get the Amazon Basic ones. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00NABTC8M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 They are stronger than the old pedal bin liners I used to get from Asda, more like black bin bag material, and while a little smaller than I would really like they are ...

Re: Older owners and Cat care

Glad I'm not the only one to use doggy poo bags to clean the litter tray, Asda used to do a really cheap small bin bag, but then they vanished the alternative was twice the size had fancy ties and about 3 times the price, so i changed to Amazon poo bags. As for the original question, while I have ne...

Re: Help with 2 week old foster kittens - 1 won't eat without aspirating

I've no experience with kittens that young, except for watching live streams of them, but I do know that there are problems that kittens can have, anything from their bodies not being fully formed internally, to problems with conflicting blood types between kitten and Mum Cat, to what I've seen refe...

Re: does anyone have any idea what keeps hurting our cats?

It does sound like bite wounds from something, my instinct is to say it is cat bites, but living in the UK, there are far less other animals that could bite a cat. My first question is, are the cats, neutered, an unneutered cat is far more likely to get into a fight with another cat than one that ha...

Re: oily cat/repeated shocking

It does sound like they are picking up static from somewhere, carpets, clothing, bedding can all create it, particularly if it is made from synthetic fabrics, nylon being almost legendary for it. However the oily coat doesn't sound quite normal for most cats, so it wouldn't hurt to get them booked i...

Re: Coco and Chanel dilemma

I remember when I got Saturn and Freyja. I had been set to view another pair of cats, nice girls, nothing to say good or bad, just a pair of cats needing a home together. Then the day or so before I went, I saw Freyja advertised, and read about her story, and my heart just went out to her, so I aske...

Re: Coco and Chanel dilemma

Congratulation, I think it is a big step. I've recently had one myself with Freyja. I thought after finally getting her to the vets it would be a long time before she would trust me again, but no, with a couple of days she was back to her normal self. Then a few weeks ago I was sat on the bed, legs ...

Re: Chronic FLUTD/FIC due to physical trauma?

I have to agree with the others, the original cause is likely from the RTA injury, I've heard of several cats in RTAs that end up in rescue and the biggest question is always whether they will be able to eliminate waste by themselves afterwards. The attitude is always that bones can mend, legs can b...

Re: Cat food

if you are in the UK then all cat food has to meet a certain standard, so there is no really bad food, like you can get in some places, that said there is definitely some foods that are better than others. Firstly any wet food is better than dry. Cats naturally get most of their water from the prey ...

Re: Kitty Invasion Chaos

If I could get the chip reader part out then I might have a chance. I'll see how things go for now, but if I have to a chip reader flap might actually be an option. For now the camera is working at letting me know when he comes in, and blocking the cat flap at night prevents any over night incursion...

The the chip reader could be set in the learning mode and then just sat beside me for an hour or 3 then I might have a chance to get it near her, but if it will only stay in learning mode for a few minutes or less then the chances are it would takes months to try and get it near here at the right po...

Re: Kitty Invasion Chaos

The 'get someone to hold the cat' is the problem part. It took me 5 attempts to get hold of Freyja to get her in a carrier to have her booster jabs, if she works out there is something strange going on then she takes off. Even when it comes to defleaing her, it is a very hit and miss operation. i ha...

I did wonder about Russian Blue or British Blue due to the colour, but at the same time have the attitude that with out paperwork it is just a grey cat. Hopefully someone hasn't just thrown him out because he is 'Russian' (I hear some shows are banning Russian breeds' or possibly just cats that were...

Now I'm trying something new. This is (if it works) the video i got of Grey this morning. He definitely doesn't look to be skin and bones to me, or scruffy like a stray. Please accept my apologies for the amount of fluff about and the litter tray in the background. https://1drv.ms/v/s!At93xplCLvL_jD...

Re: Kitty Invasion Chaos

@fjm, thank you for the offer, but I think it is best, if we do decided to get a microchip cat flap, we try and make sure it will fit the cut out already in the door. The hole was cut when we first had the double glazing put in, and was done by the fitter as my OH is very reluctant to try and do any...

Re: Kitty Invasion Chaos

When it comes to microchip cat flaps I'm not entirely sure how they work and how long it takes for one to learn the chips, Saturn and Tiggy wouldn't be a problem, but then there is Freyja, I would have to leave it in learning mode and hope she went through it before Grey did, or i would have to chas...

Kitty Invasion Chaos

While nothing on the scale of what is happening East of here, we have been having to deal with our own little invasion problem. After years or peace, we suddenly have three invaders coming here, craftily sneaking in through the cat flap when we aren't looking. I have nothing against them coming in p...

Re: Boy or girl??

You best bet is a trip to the vets, i've known experienced fosterers that have seen hundreds of kittens get it wrong, so if you are unsure, then asking a professional is the best option. it will also mean you can have your kitten health checked which will give you peace of mind knowing you have a he...

Re: Help! Can fit change this much? Could these cat be the same cat?

I have to agree that black marking on the nose and on the front paws looks different to me as well. I know it is hard when a cat goes missing and how much you want them back, but I really don't think that one is yours, so it might be that someone else is missing them. I would suggest getting either ...

I'm on the receiving end on this at the moment, we have two possibly 3 cats that keep trying to get in. When it was one just coming in for the left over food and a bit of a warm up and wasn't upsetting mine I was happy enough to leave well alone, better the food went in a hungry semi stray than in t...

It definitely sounds to me like either she doesn't like the litter you are using, and you have mentioned you tried different types, but it might be worth trying more, even as far as putting down several trays each filled with a different type of litter, to see if there is one she obviously prefers. ...

Re: Why does my cat KEEP pooping on the carpet?

If she always goes in the same corner of the room, would it be possible to put a litter tray in that corner for her to see if she would use one there. Another thought is, I am assuming they are not allowed out from the way you talk, could it be that she is seeing another cat outside and feeling the ...

I too have been fairly lucky with cats and food. Dried food it is Purina One, and only Purina One, to the extent that the times we tried other types and mixed them together we would find the floor around the bowl cover with the non Purina cat food and all the Purina gone, as they had picked through ...

Re: Ehlers Danlos Syndrome in Cats

It doesn't seem like the sores occur under the wing flaps, so I think i is just from knocks and small tears. As mentioned in the article, sometimes the flaps will fall off naturally with no bleeding or wound so i guess the skin just slowly dies off, which might prevent the sores occurring, or it cou...

Rather than clog up Mollycats thread where this topic had cropped up as a side note, i thought it best to start my own here. I am really sorry you lost Ziggy in such a way but if your vet cant' tell you why he left you, no one hear really can either, sometimes these are mysteries that have no answer. An autopsy might have revealed something, but would likely have also been inconclusive. in the end all I can really say is ...

You are getting Tiggy and Freyja mixed up. Tiggy is my golden oldie at 19, and hence why she has a lot of the problems she does, it is just a matter of getting old. Freyja on the other hand is about 7 years old (it seems only a couple of years ago when we got her at 6 months old), she likes to go ou...
