Re: My cat doesn't want to live here anymore
I have had some more thoughts about this. Is the cat flap open to him during the daytime when you are out ? If so he might be coming in and out of your house when you are out at work. If you really want to know where he is going buy a GPS tracker, however they are not very cheap see this website htt...

Re: My cat doesn't want to live here anymore
If I have understood what you wrote correctly he is actually in your house for about 4-6 hours to sleep and eat. I'm inclined to think that if he's coming in to do that he sees your house as his 'home' Cats need a lot more sleep than 4-6 hours so he must be snoozing somewhere else. How much is he ea...

Re: Constipation
If he has had an enema it should have left virtually nothing in his large bowel (and you saw what was left come out on Sunday). If he is not passing normally in about 48 hours from the last poop contact the vet again, but until then I wouldn't worry too much. However that does not address the questi...

Re: Homing a kitten with cat flu
You could seek the opinion of a third vet. My 'gut reaction' is that the RSPCA is possibly keen to home all of its cats almost regardless of any problems and that their vet just might be influenced by that. It is so very sad that this kitten has developed cat flu, but right now that is not your prob...

I admire you and commend you for looking after this cats welfare and its needs. Is it with the previous owners agreement ? I say that because there have been few posts on here about cats being enticed away or taken over by other people without their full agreement, and much to the annoyance of the o...

Re: Stopping kitten climbing large computer screen
It may not work instantly as the kitten will have to experience it a few times to discover it is uncomfortable to walk on.
Try crinkling it up a little bit so that it 'crunches' when walked on, this might make it more uncomfortable under it's paws.

Re: Stopping kitten climbing large computer screen
Does your kitten do it when he is using it or just when it is not in use ? If it is the latter cover it in aluminium foil, probably best to turn the monitor off though ! If it is at all times,(I guess the kitten has to walk/climb/jump onto the desktop to get on the monitor) perhaps cover the desktop...

Repellant spray
I love my cats, but there are three places I DON'T want my cats to go. (because one is incontinent)
On my sofa and armchair and on my kitchen worktops.
Can anyone suggest a spray that will keep them off that is safe and effective but not harmful to me or the cats, or smells bad (to me).

Re: repelling cats from mini blinds
You may find that cats and venetian blinds (horizontal slatted ) are just incompatible. Plastic slats they will chew and destroy, metal slats they will chew and leave teeth marks. Vertical blinds might (but only might) be a better answer because they are often made of a thicker plastic material but ...

Re: Oh Help, what do I do !!!
I found out this evening that the vet's couldn't save it and it had passed away.
I went and knocked on a few houses and found the owner and gave her the bad news.
She was saddened but not distraught. She said this kind of thing happens when you have twenty cats !

Oh help, what do I do !!!
Driving home during the early hours of this morning I ran over a cat on a country road a few miles from my house ! It ran across the road and I swerved to avoid it but it ran back under my car and got hit. I stopped immediately and went back and found it. It was still alive but badly injured. I took...

Re: Should I give in ?
Her fidgeting, washing and scratching herself was very irritating but I tolerated it. However the last straw was when she jumped off the headboard on to my stomach. I have recently had abdominal surgery, and that HURT !! So, I have now covered the top of the headboard with aluminium foil and that has...

Re: Should I give in ?
Well, she is an awkward little horror. Aw yes but i luv 'er :D It seems it was the separation that upset her most. When I had lured her out with cat treats she hasn't wanted to be put down and has been very clingy. I'll try the foil on the headboard, I already use that elsewhere in the house for a ...

Should I give in ?
One of my cats regularly changes the place where she sleeps/rests, usually about every three weeks. For about the last ten days she has favoured being on the very top of the headboard of my bed, leaning against the wall to stop herself falling down the back. I found that extremely irritating because...

Well here's a surprise I don't quite understand !! After the really bad situation a week ago he has improved ! I think quality of life is the factor - both his and yours. Can you both stand this, for another ten years or more? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Thanks for all your comments. Would you euthanase a doubly incontinent cat ?
I have raised this before; here is a link if you want to read it again. https://www.catchat.org/felineforum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=7675 My cat Billy (7) has always had loose bowels, it got worse a few months ago and wherever he sat or laid he would leave brown marks and diarrhoea. Very recently it...

Re: Pandemonium
I moved house in June last year. In the old house I had grey and green patterned carpets and I never noticed any "brown marks" even though one of my cats has bowel problems. In my new house I have light fawn plain carpets throughout and I now find marks in every room, so much so I had to b...

Re: Help me name my new cat
Change it, but only slightly, to "FURRY" so the cat won't get confused.
Although I believe cats can get used to a new name (eg lost and found with no idea what the previous name was) I think that might be the easiest option.

Re: Would you eat anything if you were really hungry ?
6 hours later...Half of it is gone ! Not sure which cat (of 2) has eaten it, but they will have to wait until 8pm for any more. On a personal note I can't bear anything in my mouth that has gelatine on it or is extremely slimy. Jellied eels make me puke, I loathe bananas because they go mushy in the...

Would you eat anything if you were really hungry ?
This morning I put my cats down some food but they hardly touched it. They were last fed 12 hours ago so they ought to be hungry, so I can only presume they don't like the brand or flavour I have given them.
It prompts the question, If you were really hungry would you eat something you didn't like ?

Futher changes.
He has become more friendly and affectionate !
Which I suppose makes sense because if I had a constant pain or irritation I wouldn't feel very sociable either.

I started feeding him with James Wellbeloved Grain-free wet and dry three days ago and already there is an improvement !
He brought up a hairball today and it had almost no fluid or stomach contents in it, and his diarrheoa seems to have stopped.

Re: My cat has two problems.
both problems could well be the result of a food allergy - the hair balls from itchy skin causing overgrooming, and the explosive bowels from intestinal irritation as the Hills and Whiskas contain grain, and as grain intolerance is quite common, I'd start there - there are a fair number of grain-fr...

Re: My cat has two problems.
He is very affectionate, loves head rubs and belly tickles but on his terms and only when he feels like it. He hates being handled or picked up. There are times he can be a bit stand-offish and detached which is why I feel he will be less bothered by being shut out of the bedroom. He was born feral ...
