Re: Frequent diarrhoea issues

why did you switch diets so soon? and to something untried? hills is extortionate I know, but plain boiled chicken breast for a week can do wonders, so long as you do it all GRADUALLY. This cat needs a plain diet for a decent amount of time (at least a week) to see if the problem is food related. if...

and keep a CLOSE eye on her weight..... if she loses weight from this (even if it is behavioural) then she needs a vet. a GOOD VET!

Re: Anybody familiar with this kind of odd cat snorting?

has she lost weight? THAT is the real question. Dysphagia just means difficulty eating and can have many causes. But it seems like she can eat just fine, and this is a behavioural issue? if she hasn't lost weight and eats during the night, then I think that the stress of the vet trip might not be wa...

Re: Cats and Christmas trees

i know of two cats strangled in Christmas tree lights so far this year....... i know none of you would be that silly as to leave them alone with the tree, but just spreading the warning out there! our tree goes up on X-mas Eve if it is lucky, and is 3 foot tall lol.

i think your approach is sensible! the second guy being neutered is helping, as if he wasn't sparks would fly! I have 29 neutered, a mix of feral and tame, plus ONE rover who comes for winter who I have been unable to catch so far. there is no fighting except for mealtimes, when some of the rescues ...

Mammy Muffin was euthanised on Monday. she just went downhill very fast on Sunday. On Saturday she had a very good day and ate loads of boiled chicken breast. Sunday she was wobbly on her legs and I stayed with her through the night. Monday she was worse and could barely stand. I had to help her to ...

Re: Problems with neighbours

that episode was a subject of great discussion in my nursing class! yes, you would imagine that the average vet practice would have ethanol on hand, BUT..... Fitzpatrick's referrals is NOT a general practice. They dont get ordinary animals and ONLY work from referrals. and No vet will refer an antif...

Re: Problems with neighbours

Also....... If you let the cats out even for minutes (I know some cats will literally open windows!) be aware of the signs of the various types of poisoning. At least then the vet has an idea to work on. My 2 boys died of rat poison and they only show signs when it is too late. Antifreeze can be fix...

Re: Problems with neighbours

This man CLEARLY has psychiatric issues. Your concern in not him (I know you are helpful and a good neighbour, but you cannot sort that). Your concern for and responsibility to, is your cats. There HAS to be some way you can cat proof your garden. This man cannot stop you from doing things on your o...

Mainly because she drives like a lunatic. That doesn't affect us as we are at the top of the lane. Our cats rarely go as far as hers, or at least rarely go far enough for her to pick up speed. Lovely beef farmer...... Lives downstream of her. She didn't lie here when we bought the house either. If I...

She is just a bad minded weapon of a yoke...... Other neighbours are actually tracking her movements down to the minute..... She is THAT hated! It is like an episode of neighbours from hell! But at least I am not the only one eh? Everyone has an issue with here for different reasons.

Thank you all. I made my ðecision on that night trusting myself and my relationship with and knowledge of Locky. Re: First time kitten owner!

you are likely to have a few issues because this kitten was removed from its mother far far too early. it is damage prevention at this stage. what life do you want for this infant? decide and expose it to that. gradually.

a twonk he is! but i agree that cat proofing the garden will help. it sounds like a small garden which is a feasable project. i have had 2 cats poisoned recently and have no way to fence off our land short of a lottery win and huge planning permission. if I could, I would.

I am no expert on this by any means, but have studied it in college..it scared the daylights out of me to be honest! I would say to. Re: Please help - cat with respiratory distress at our vet

I think it boils down to trust...... And that is where client communication comes in. I will ALWAYS, as a nurse, want the best outcome for my patients. I might come across as rude or dismissive at some stage if I need to help the patient, but I will always tell the client afterwards exactly WHY that...

Re: Please help - cat with respiratory distress at our vet

Nothing beats a cat-friendly practice. Would LOOOOVE to work in one someday, and we had a talk on it in college recently where my lecturer said it would be the only thing that coild possibly tempt her out of teaching, which she loves! My point was only that, in an emergency situation, your LAST thou...

I have one cat who can no longer eat raw chicken without getting diarrhoea. She is 18 and FIV negative. She is on the most expensive blooming food I have ever seen and is gonna be switched to taste of the wild once the current bag is finished!

Re: Raw diet for FIV cats? Yea or neh?

I have 30 rescues who are a mix of FIV and not FIV. Most love a chicken wing but the odd one doesn't or cannot eat it (lack of teeth again!). I pretty much do what crewella does. A mix of wet and dry and premium and cheap brands. I buy stuff that is on offer and feed the best I can afford. I rarely ...

I have posted about Locky here before and need to update. He passed away peacefully at home at 11.10pm last night. Friday night he ate, but wasn't as enthusiastic abut dinner as usual. Saturday morning he refused breakfast so I popped him int the bathroom to keep an eye on what was going in and comi...

Anticoagulant poisoning

2 cats here are now dead cats thanks to rat poison. I am a bit flummoxed and am trying to find out all legalities and so on. Both cats seemed a bit off colour. The first I said sure I'll bring him to the vet tomorrow. It looked like he had flu symptoms. Next morning he had crashed and by the time we...

Re: Cats in kennels.

cats are NOT small dogs. i have never even heard of anyone contemplating putting a cat in a kennel/crate overnight. unless it is a feral cat to work on taming or administer medication. even then it is a necessary evil as stress raises cortisol levels which reduce immunity.
