Re: Abandoned tomcats - RSPCA not doing anything!
The RSPCA inspector who visited is giving you their verdict on the situation judged within the legal guidelines and I am afraid they can do no more a bit skinny and unkemp is not cause for RSPCA action they would need to be very thin and begining to loose muscle for energy and have no access to shel...

Re: Abandoned tomcats - RSPCA not doing anything!
One thing I forgot please please do not put anything in writing like a note saying the cats are with you through the owners door and if you take them to the vet say they are two cats living in your street you think they are strays and would like them checked as you're prepared to adopt them if no ow...

Re: Abandoned tomcats - RSPCA not doing anything!
Hi a very experienced rescuer here and my advice is if your willing to take the two tomcats do so but take them to your vet asap for a microchip scan and full health check make sure the vet accurately records the details of the health check and any advice he gives regarding treatment and general con...

Re: Cat put down answers please
A red blood cell count of 7% is very very low and he would I am afraid barely be alive the trauma of a journey or treatment where he was if it was available would very likely have been too much for his body to stand you made the kindest choice in my opinion I would have had to do the same as hard as...

Re: Neighbours complaining.
Some previous neighbours of mine used to put. one of their cats litter trays out in the corner of the patio whenever the cats were let out they had 3 who were mainly indoor but allowed out in nice weather when the owners were home and more often than not the cats returned to use the tray it may be w...

Re: Cat Peeing on puppy pad?
Hi just wondering how many litter trays your sons cats have its generally a good idea to have one per cat and one spare and always clean the tray as soon as you see its been used and also bear in mind your sons wife hasn't just left him she's left the cats too so a major life change for them in.many...

Re: Possible strays in my garden. Need advice
Here's an example of why rescues are cautious with lending traps many years ago as a new rescue worker someone convinced me they had a stray borrowed a trap caught the cat and dumped it in a forest miles away and a week later returned the trap saying the cat had disappeared long story cut short the ...

Re: Possible strays in my garden. Need advice
Just a thought have you tried general animal rescues not just cat ones and be sure to say its for neuter and return so any rescue you ask is not refusing you traps as they can't accommodate the cats if you say you are unsure if the cats are owned or not it will also put some rescues off as its no on...

Just a thought if it might work for you and you could set one up a bird feeder or severely near a window keeps mine entertained for hours I am lucky though as none of them when out bother to try and catch the birds so it works OK just depends on the cat it would be wrong of course to encourage the b...

Re: Help introducing dog to cat
One thing I always do when introducing a new dog which may work for you at some point is to use one or more baby gates so that the cats can have safe rooms but access the same room as the dog at their own pace that way they're not feeling shut away from each other and the cat can still be in a separ...

Re: Neighbours aggressive cat
Firstly I would bring him home and keep him in next I would install a microchip flap if you don't already have one I assume he doesn't feel safe indoors as he's choosing to relocate rather than be inside iif he feels safe inside he may work out a strategy for himself given a little more confidence

If you are going to try the rehoming route I would only do so if you are willing and able to do it yourself all on condition he comes back to you if it fails once you sign him over to rescue his future is out of your hands I have known numerous cases of cats as habitual lifetime sprayers in one pet ...

Re: Neighbour complaint about my noisy cat
Noise nuisance issues I believe are usually assessed from indoors as thàt is where it would have most impact on someone's life I doubt even a Siamese that is outdoors and a distance away would produce noise enough to disturb you neighbour inside their house and have enough impact for any council to ...

Re: Heat cycles and spaying (paradox, please help1)
I have had several cats spayed during heat for the same reason and never any problems have also dealt with numerous feral colonies as TNR where some females were probably in heat and no issues there either personally I would rather risk spay than leave her unspayed and in constant cycle I totally di...

Re: Drooling cat with tongue out sneezing
People seem to put a lot of emphasis on bloodworm and very often its an almost pointless excersise a sick cat test within normal range one day and serious organ failure the next I would go for another opinion and probably x ray of the face before he gets too I'll and weak and you loose him anyway

Re: New pup to two cats
Just because the cats don't get on doesn't mean either of them won't be fine with a dog just give the cats safe indoor space using a dog crate or baby gates never let a puppy chase the cats or intimidate them and keep feeding times safe and peaceful and above all don't let the cats vote with their f...

So rather than turning her over to the spay and release programme, would the same programme not help with neutering her and returning to you the cost would be the same to them or less if you contributed what you could, short or long term meds is not going to be the answer due to the meds used and he...

I understand you want to protect your puppy and especially his eyesight which is why I suggested a dog crate or baby gates so they can both be indoors getting used to each others presence without physical confrontation
