Re: Needing a home for my 2 old Male cat- Stockport
Hey there Avana, Has Mickey been neutered? It sounds like he's trying to prove his dominance around the house. Is he also getting enough attention? The cats that are most ignored tend to be the ones that make the biggest bullies. I'd make a fuss of your boy each time you come home. Give him chin rub...

I echo what Hannah so wonderfully put. We're always here if you need to talk Joanna. It's hard when you lose something dear to you, but even more so when it's unexpected. The only thing I can recommend is to keep going as best you can and keep remembering. At the moment it's hard but soon that pain ...

Re: Discharge from eye
My local pet shop round the corner actually sells all that kind of stuff, of which I am grateful. I buy the wipes and washing up liquid for when I need to clean out my cats bowls and wipe down the desk and dining room table as she likes to lay on them to get her daily dose of sun. They are expensive...

Re: Never knew it was so bad!
my mother was allowed to adopt a cat when she was 86, because I was around to help out, and it made a huge difference to her wellbeing, as well as the cat's, and I and surely other catlovers would be delighted to help an old person enjoy the company of an otherwise unwanted cat desperate times some...

Re: Never knew it was so bad!
You mentioned this is a bad time of year. In your experience is it likely that as autumn and winter arrive the situation might ease and there will be places or is it semi permanent situation now (I guess the recession is still ongoing for many people)? I also wondered what the main problem is with ...

Sorry there's been no response Deako, I'm sure if something comes up as an adoption here you'll be the first to know. Have you contacted your local centres to let them know you're looking for a blind cat to rescue? I'm sure they'll put you on their special attention list if you do! After all, most p...

It's such a pity they can't go on some kind of virtual reality training before they consider buying a pet. It's a shame their aren't stricter licences for owning and breeding animals. At the moment it seems to be: "You have money? There's your pet." Experience a few worst case scenarios s...

My brother in law got a dog years ago and brought him home and cuddled him as a puppy, then took no responsibility. Luckily the other family members are more sensible and compassionate! Blackie is unsocialosed but has a happy life. Sme people eh? Sadly we're still in the "throw away" era ...

I love this! My Sofi is vocal, but perhaps not as vocal as your cats Lilith. She does tend to get a little more vocal at night, especially if I'm in the kitchen. But if we stroke her when she's dozing she tends to make this little purr/meow which sounds to me like "eehh, why are you distu...

Seems to be working so far! She's tried to move onto cables but we've managed to keep her away from them. Masaru's suggestion has helped a bit so I'm grateful so that. Sofi is leaving splinters everywhere... Do you think she'd have big problems with bits of twig in her teeth? I haven't noticed any s...

Well this story has basically drawn to a close and I'm pleased to say it's a good one. Luna is off back to her breeder at the end of July. There was an incident on Thursday night involving Luna, other roommate, the kitchen and a lot of poop. Other roommate called up Luna owning roommate who was out ...

Re: Cat chew toy ideas for an annoyed teacher
Hello :) Have you tried to give her wooden sticks? Just check online which wood is not poisonous for cats... I am sure there are a lot of trees and bushes in Spain :) Though I think dry wood or dead wood would be better than fresh one. I hadn't thought of that! Thanks Masaru! :D I once had a cat ( ...

Re: Urgent. Foster home needed for 4 cats for about 4 month
WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE GUMTREE. It is frequently used by people looking to offer cats a 'free' home, the cats are then used as bait to train fighting dogs. This isn't just a scare story, Celia Hammond can tell you it's a very real problem. One of my cats came from her rescue and he lost a leg ...

Re: Scratching Cats
Hey Craig, Your cat is probably scratching to mark their territory in their new place. If possible make sure your scratching posts and beds are located very near the chairs to try and prevent bad behaviour from them. If you haven't seen your cat using the scraching posts then try and encourage them ...

Re: How much do your cats eat?
Ours is the same. You'd think we were starving her from the way she eats half the time! We've had to be careful as she's getting a real ponch on her and she also tends to start pushing her tray around the hall if she feels she's hungry! We also feed her morning, noon and night. (We tried all at once...

We used to hose our local tom when he attacked my uncles cat, but he had a large garden and a 10 foot garden hose so I'm guessing that's not an option for you. (And he only let her out when he was home, reading books on the patio, she was a very timid cat and would not let my uncle out of her sight)...

Re: Urgent. Foster home needed for 4 cats for about 4 month
How long do they need to be housed for? Have you considered a local foster or cattery if you know it's going to be short term? Or if it's very very short and you're keeping your house have you considered a cat sitter? If a close friend or family member is available I'm hoping they'd cat sit for you ...

Re: Is it wrong to keep a cat indoors?
the quality of the cattery matters more than that it is a cattery, if you know what I mean - try asking around expats, Embassy staff etc for a recommendation, as some of them are likely to have used one, and finding one which keeps its standards way up because they don't want to lose valuable busin...

I'm guessing there's no 'no pets' clause in the lease that can be invoked? Even if there isn't, I wonder if a quiet 'phone call to the landlord or managing agent might stir things up a bit ....... it would need to be judged carefully as, obviously, your sister doesn't want to lose her home over thi...

I admit, I'd never heard a cat grumble before I met Sofi. She grumbles in the mornings. ONLY in the mornings mind you. If she's snuggled up in the bed and I move away from her or get up a hear a little grumble. I like to think of it as "Hey now, where's my warm person gone?"

Re: Two cats need rehoming quite urgently.
If you can afford it, and are able in the place you are moving, cat passports are a viable option if you want to keep them with you. Failing that have you tried advertising in local pets stores? I would ring round every shelter in your area to confirm they can't take them as a precaution. You can fi...
