Re: Urgent advice please - Polly at emergency vet - PKD/kidn
TBH I find Tanya's forum quite hard to follow, they all seem to know what they're talking about and are quoting stuff I know nothing about plus it seems to move really quick and I couldn't keep up! I would at least speak to your normal vet if you trust and have a good relationship with them, hopeful...

Re: Tig Has PKD
Thanks Helen, I'll take a look at that. Tig is doing ok thanks, I'm going to try a different food as he's going off this one and I want to see if I can get him eating a bit better than he is. He's been sick a few times too, just fur or bile but I know this is to be expected. He's his normal mischiev...

Re: Urgent advice please - Polly at emergency vet - PKD/kidn
I'm sorry to hear this Suze and sorry I can't be of more help, I just don't understand enough about this condition at the moment. Have you found Tanya's CRF site yet? They have a forum, perhaps someone on there will be able to give some advice. Keeping everything crossed for Polly x

Re: Possible IBD?
IBD is notoriously difficult to diagnose, I had a biopsy done on Hector and it was still inconclusive. It can be a battle to find the the right combination of diet/medication but it is controllable. I found the best combination Purina HA with a low dose of Prednisalone and this kept him stable for a...

Re: Tig Has PKD
Hi Suze, I didn't think to ask about the size of the cysts, they did say they would just keep growing until they overcome the kidneys. His left kidney is the worst with the right a little way behind. They're still functioning at 100%, the vet said they have to lose 70% function before they go into r...

Re: Tig Has PKD
From what I understand from the vet we manage with diet until he goes into renal failure and at that point we start on medication, pleased to hear differently if anyone knows anything. There's nothing they can do to make the cysts go away, if they drain them they'll just refill again. Already you co...

Tig Has PKD
Been an awful week, having had his third bout of cystitis since June we were at the vets again this week and the vet felt one of Tig's kidneys was enlarged so he had an ultrasound done and it showed he has PKD (polycystic kidney disease), it's a genetic disease and there was nothing we could have do...

Re: Renal Food Recommendations
Tig does definitely have PKD so we're in the process of switching him over, we're starting on the RC and so far he likes the dry but isn't so keen on the wet, even mixed with his normal food it will be that left at the bottom of the dish! There are two other RC wet to try but they're not as low as t...

Renal Food Recommendations
Tig has his second ultrasound scan today but it's looking very much like he has PKD. If that's confirmed he'll have to move onto a renal diet and I want to prepared as I know it can be a battle to get them to eat renal food. Does anyone have any recommendations? Any brands better than others? Any ot...

Have you tried adding more litter trays and bowls? Given his age I'd also get him checked by the vet to rule out any underlying health conditions.

Poor Frankie sounds very traumatised by the fight. A couple of things, try some positive reinforcement and help Frankie associate Oscar with good things, I would try playing with them together, feed them together and reward positive interaction between the two of them with treats or fusses. Also hav...

Hi and welcome, your boys are beautiful.. I hope you don't mind me mentioning but you should consider changing your collars to safety release collars (Kitty Collars do a good range), that way if they get caught they be able get away.

I'm pleased to find someone in a similar position, I have 4 year old deaf Tig, and two females Pip and Noodle, although not quite as extreme he terrorises Noodle, if she's around he's on her case. Pip handles him much better, she just jumps up out of the way but Noodle stays on the floor so he chase...

Given her age and changes in behaviour I think she needs to be checked out by the vet, hard as it may be to catch her you need to rule out any health issues.
