Bowels
Apologies before I start I know it's not the nicest of subjects. After his bladder blockage at the beginning of the year Bilbo has had to go onto prescription food, a battle in itself which is a whole other story suffice to say even now 6 weeks later he still isn't eating properly. He has lost about...

Is there anyone in your family who could look after him for you ? A similar thing happened to my daughter which is how I ended up with Bilbo living here

Re: Yowlee missing
How frightening,Bilbo has a habit of hiding, but in the house, I once spent an hour looking for him turned the place upside down searched everywhere. I knew he had to be in the house because the windows were closed and he is a house cat so tends to run away from open doors. Got myself in a right sta...

Litter trays
Right I have always followed the advice one tray per cat and one spare so with one cat I have one tray upstairs and one downstairs so why does he refuse to use the upstairs one ? He will be up there playing and come down to use the tray. Is it common for cats to have a favourite tray and totally ign...

Re: Pink slightly swollen anus in male neutered cat
Well as strange as this sounds - and there is a very good reason I promise- I have had a very clear view of Bilbo's rear end in the last couple of weeks ! The picture looks very similar to his but is defiantly slightly pinker but I don't know if that could just be down to individual cats The reason ...

Re: Talking like a person

Re: Update on Bilbo the blocked cat
This cat will be the death of me  He is or seems to be getting back to normal with one exception he does not like the urinary food, well actually I'm not convinced that he doesn't like it he just doesn't want it because he thinks his old food is better !! He is using the litter tray and weeing ...

Re: Getting a cat to the vets
Neither cat I have had has ever gone easily into the box, unless they were really poorly and having gone through all the stress of getting them on once we get to the vets they won't come out ! I always leave the box out for at least a week with the door off before any routine appointments and put on...

Re: Cat surgery
Sorry I can't help about vets costs in your area hope the poor little thing is OK, the only advice I could give is to try ringing around a few local vets to compare costs. The other option is does your vet offer a payment plan I know mine does for uninsured pets needing expensive treatment there is ...

Grooming advice
Me again the neurotic one !! Bilbo seems to be doing an awful lot of grooming specifically around his rear end, tail and front paws all the areas he had shaved. I am assuming this is partly because the fur isn't starting to grow back and it's maybe a bit "itchy" but being the worrywart tha...

Has anyone ever used this with thier cat ? The vet prescribed it him to try and relieve some of his stress as he is still suffering with urethral spasm which thy are sure is stress related. Re: Update on Bilbo the blocked cat
Here's we go again, this morning Bilbo was heaving as if he was going to be sick and licking his lips which he always does before he vomits - not that he vomits that much. I rang the vet and they said to bring him in for a check up so of we go again. Get there different vet than usual but she was lo...

Re: Update on Bilbo the blocked cat
Well the vet rang me before we left this morning to see how he was, as he had weed overnight and was playing and eating (reluctantly because he doesn't like his new food as much as his old) and drinking she said that rather than stress him out and potentially cause even more problems it may be bette...

Re: Update on Bilbo the blocked cat
Well he did one of his tiny little Wees overnight back to the vet this morning for a blood test then take it from there, as awful as it sounds I sort of hope it is pain related and not that his kidneys are not producing urine.

Re: Update on Bilbo the blocked cat
Well we have just been back to the vet, he still hasn't weed properly he goes to the tray but passses hardly anything, I think I am becoming unhealthily obsessed with his toilet habits! She felt his bladder and said it was fine and she agreed with me that it was a big coincidence that the problems r...

Thanks for the reply I'm not 100% convinced it is the cystitis again he isn't going backwards and forwards to the litter tray as he was 2 weeks ago he just isn't going and then when he does it's a pitiful amount, I'm wondering if his urethra is partially blocked either with crystals is because of sp...

Update on Bilbo the blocked cat

Ironically he also looks to be incredibly fat ! His tummy is still covered in fur which is just a couple of inches of the ground but because his rear is now all but bald it accentuates this and makes him look as if he has the biggest tummy in the world !!

Re: Why my bed ?
I wonder how long trousers would last on him ?? I suspect not very long :D He has found that the chair in one of the other bedrooms is very close to the radiator so once the heating comes on he lies on there warming his bare bottom, he does look a bit of a mess at the moment bare patches on both his...

Re: Painting with cat
I use quick drying satin on the wood work and just keep Bilbo out of the room for a couple of hours up until last week he had a very bushy tail, more like a fox than a cat so if I am painting I have to keep him away as he does like to swish his tail around. Although last time I painted he decided to...

Re: Please help! Does my cat have a skin condition or just stress? Is losing fur : (
My sadly missed boy Milo was a very nervous cat and if something upset him he would groom his chest till it was bald, a couple of times he managed to get the area infected. Now it may be a Different initial cause but what I found helped wasa twice daily wash with some cat shampoo with honey in it an...

Well the little blighter is not having it !! I have a quilt I made folded up as a runner at the bottom he has always lay on that but wasn't keen on the duvet -until now :D mind you as soon as the heating came on he was on the chair next to the radiator so I can only assume he has a cold bottom ! Must be strange after having fur that covered ri...

Why my bed ?
Bilbo my 4 year old is getting over a blocked urethra - slowly it seems to me- he is a semi long haired domestic who has always had a very furry rear end. This had to be shaved of when the vet was unblocking him and then washing out his bladder to prevent mats so now he is home he has taken to sleep...

I'm no expert but has she been wormed I know that they can cause diarrhoea the fur balls I do know a bit about Bilbo is a long haired cat and was a **** for hairballs he has been on a cat food for his coat and that with daily brushing with a furminator has all but eliminated them, however he now has...

Re: Dantrolene
Thank you, Bilbo is a nightmare to pill and as the advice is to keep his stress levels down until he gets over this it's not really what I want to do so I asked about crushing them and vet said it was ok he didn't say anything about the taste though so thank you he also said that putting them inside...
